Now that FF is almost done will TMNT return or end?
 

Hi I think I heard theirs only going to be 15 eps or something of FF have you guys heard anything if TMNT will continue or will it end here? Will 4kids bring it back or will there be a ending? Or better yet go back to the old way or do a power rangers and have a theme every year to re-invent TMNT.

I think by the time FF wraps up completely, we'll be near enough to the movie that it probably won't matter. I have a feeling it may all come to an end somewhere around the movie, but the movie will spark it's own spin-off (none of that is official, just speculating of course!).

Right now FF is two seasons of 13. Not one.

Here's what I think;

4Kids split Fast Forward and pulled Lost Season from the DVD release schedule so they could air the Ninja Tribunal episodes early next year when the movie gets released. Probably just wishful thinking but it does make some sort of sense. A 13 episode DVD set (Ninja Tribunal + 12 "Lost" episodes) would then be released around the time of the movie DVD. It's the best way for them to cash in on the LS episodes.

Next season will be the remaining 12 FF episodes. I believe they will end with the TMNT returning home. FF was always said to be 26 stand alone episodes and I don't think the ratings or sales have had the jump they expected so there's no reason to keep them in the future.

After that the show could go back to normal (possibley exploring some of the ideas put forward in "The Journal") or come to a close.

If it comes to a close I would expect a CGI series (Peter Laird has always wanted to do CGI TMNT) to replace it. This could be stand alone or related to the new movie but I doubt it would relate to the current show.

Hey Chris, if they were to experiment with a CGI TMNT television show, you think they'll stick it with 4Kids, or try to strike up another contract with another broadcasting company?

I personally would love it if they stuck the Turtles in primetime!

If 4kids cancels TMNT after FF than obviously they've done with the franchise.

Mirage would have to look for a new partner for a new series.

Surely if the movie does well, Warner Bros would be an obvious choice as a partner for a TV show.
Imagi have already done TV with Father Of The Pride, but they'll be doing the TMNT sequel and will probably be too busy to do a TV version.
It should interesting anyway, to see how it all unfolds.

And have a re-launch of those pre-2001 WB TMNT designs on the official site?

Eh...no thanks. I hated the way Splinter, April, Baxter and Shredder looked in those designs. TMNT weren't my cup of tea either.

I agree Warner Bros would seem the natural partner for many reasons;

• They were interested in purchasing a TMNT show before
• They're involved with the movie
• For a new show to start the 4Kids one would end so a new network would be needed, CW would be as good a place as any

I don't think you need to worry about the old designs. If it comes back as a CGI show and the movie does well I think WB would stick to those designs and the characters from the movie rather than redesign them all. With the models already done it would make the TV series cheaper.

Three questions:
1. Do you guys want the current show to end after FF and a new CGI one to start? Or would you rather more of the 2K3 show once the TMNT return to the present?
2. If they did a CGI show would you want it tied to the new movies or would you want it stand alone?
3. If you linked it to the movie would you want to to be set after the movie (between this film and the potential sequel), or would you want it to be set before the movie (redoing the in-continuity parts of the old movies and adding new adventures whilst avoiding tying the hands of the sequel)?

I personally would be very happy to see 2K3 continue. But I'm not sure I trust 4Kids anymore (after what happened with the Lost Season). I think I'd be equally happy with a good return to 2K3 or to just end the series well and move on to a new show.

If they did it CGI I think it would be good to link it to the new film. Though I'll be honest and say I'd be happy with any series.

If it's linked to the film I think I'd want the first season or two to be set before the new movie. They could retell the original movie and do a new "canon" version of "Secret of the Ooze" as well as add to the Turtles adventures before they drifted apart. Kevin Munroe has said there are loads of references to the old movies and the comics and TV show for the fans. As a prequel this series could show the adventures that these Turtles had that are hinted at in the movie. As a prequel it would also avoid stepping on the toes of any potential sequel.

Here's how I'd see it;

2007 - TMNT movie and final season of FF
2008 - TMNT Season 1 (starts with events similar to first movie, goes on to have other adventures, learn origin and ends with the defeat of the Shredder)
2009 - TMNT Season 2 (shows TMNT break apart as a family, how they go off on their own, and builds to a lead up to TMNT 2007 - covers events in the prequel comics but expands on them)

After that it would depend on what the movie plans were and how often the movies come out. I'd love it if Seasons 3+ could actually follow the movie or (even better) lead up to the next movie coming out.

I have honestly already made peace with the likely reality that whenever they end up airing the last of Fast Forward, that will be the end of the TMNT on TV for the forseeable future.

In general the entire franchise is on the downward slope. The movie will lift it slightly, but only temporarily. My best hope is that the movie does well enough to warrant a sequel. It seems like there are tentative plot ideas in mind if they are given the opportunity, so I'd be all for that.

I would NOT want a half-assed CGI TV series. And the nature of any CGI series means you have to put up with sub-par CGI. No thank you.

I just made a long-winded rant along these lines on my personal blog, which I won't go into here. But basically if the movie gives me a solid story and is the last hurrah for the franchise for several years or even longer, I will be content.

If a new TMNT CGI series were to happen I'd want it to be kind of like the Spider-Man CGI series that came out after the first movie. A small number of one-shot episodes that could possibly be set between the new movie and a sequel but not necessarily in-continuity so that you don't have continuity errors with later movies.

I say a small number (like 13) because if you have a production team work on a small number of episodes a lot of quality and care can go into them. It's kind of in the same vein as the first five episodes of the old toon. That was some quality stuff that is just now starting to obviously show it's age.

That, and it wouldn't be freakishly expensive for me to get the whole series on DVD, either.

I agree with 13 episode seasons. That way more care and attention could be given to each episode.

I think that if they use the models created for the movie (characters and environments) then they could save a lot of money and might not have to cheap out as much on the CGI.

To answer your question about if I would rather see cgi or 2k3 version. For now, I prefer the 2k3 version. I kind of got attatched to the way the characters are portrayed, and there are still doors they could open.

I say leave the CGI for the big screen, it would have it's utmost impact to the human eye on there.:D

The Spider-Man CGI series was god awful mostly because of that reason

Seriously... That's the first time I heard anyone diss Spidey CGI. I still haven't seen it myself, but I guess I ought to make an opinion someday.

As for a CGI series based on the TMNT, I'd like it if they kept the seasons small to give themselves the chance to be perfectionists. But, I'm not too keen on the idea of it following the movies continuity. I really hoped that John Woo CGI project from 2001 would happen, so maybe he could show us his what he had in mind.

I just don't want the TMNT to have to reinvent themselves again. I don't want to have to the start from scratch. I don't need another how april and the turtles meet storyline. With all that being said, I'd take a new show over FF any day.

If a new show took place after the new movie you wouldn't need an episode like that.

I loved the 2k3 series, but I wouldn't mind a new series either, if Warner Bros made a TMNT cartoon like Batman animated from the early 90's that would be cool.

Um. ...OK. I love the old show and all, but the animation is very "mass-produced '80s" in quality (except for Red Sky, which was decent). Barely any sense of weight at all. The dialogue animation sucks in the new show, but everything else is pretty dang good - especially seasons 3-4. A few slips here and there, obviously, but good overall.

I'd rather see 2k3 return (in its original style, plzkthx... none of this FF crud) but it doesn't seem likely to return to its former glory due to our friendly 4Kids censorship board. :dead: I'd only like a CG series if it were a) well-done, and b) had the same kind of feel as 2k3, or at least matched the new movie to be a proper spin-off, and c) doesn't insult my intelligence when I watch it.

I dunno... Fast Forward sucks. A lot. It'll probably kill off hopes of continuing this era of TMNT unless the idiots at 4Kids realize what they had.

Sorry to ask but, are you blind, or just animation-ignorrant.

Only three things could help bring back the old 2K3 version.

1. The new movie must do extremely well, and make ****-loads of money.
2. The Ninja Tribunal DVD, should it ever be released, needs to break sales records
3. Every TMNT fan on Earth must rise up, storm the 4Kids HQ, and tell them straight to their face that Fast Fowards blows hard and we want the orginal 2K3 show back.

Hey, where are the 4kids headquarters? I have a week off for the holidays, and I can get the ball rolling my complaining.

You tell me. Then we could buy some shotguns and some TMNT mask, rent a car, and go raise some hell.

honestly as much as i hate to say it, i would be happy with any ninja turtle cartoon than none, haha as much as i love the ninja turtles, i will learn to except when they give me, like i have the fast forward cartoon (which has actually had a couple good episodes which suprised me)....but as much as i want them to go back to the 2k3 series, i doubt it ever happens, time shall only tell what the TMNT gods have in order ...:tangel:/ :tevil:

I like TMNT:FF. At first I didn't know what to expect, but since it's in the whole continuity (minus Leo mysteriously growing his shell back :P,) I like it much more.

However, in the letter I am going to write to 4kids (or have already just need to mail it,) I mention I cannot move on with FF until I see things resolved with the Ninja Tribunal DVD release. Which better happen, so I can live with FF much better.

One other thing I miss, is the animation style of 2k3. I don't know if Dong Woo still does the animation but FF would look sweet in the 2k3 style.

What was wrong with it. I know alot of people knocked it becuase they thought it was "too anime", but I never saw it.

Oh, I see. You mean the art style itself, not the quality of the animation. I have no preference between the two styles - '80s TMNT is great at being cute and personable. New TMNT is great at looking mean and kickawesome. I can understand how someone would prefer one over the other, though.

Now, if you still mean the quality of the animation... I'll still disagree. :) There are way too many examples in my head alone of '80s turtles jumping or flipping and looking like they're floating. I will admit that the lipsync is probably better, at least in the first season.
