Does anyone know why Casey wasn't in TMNT 2?

I know that Keno sort of "replaced" him,but I would've like his sarcastic humor to be in TMNT 2. He was in TMNT 3,but I never understood that whole
"Whit is Casey's ancestor" thing. Kinda corny. I've got one more question-why is April played by a different actress in TMNT 2 and 3 than in TMNT 1?
Was Judith Hoag not interested in TMNT 2? I'd be interested to know why TMNT 2's cast was slighly different.

Karpo_007 01-25-2003 06:30 PM

Judith Hoag said that he wasn't quite happy ewith outcome of the first movie... And I think Elias Koteas didn't want to do TMNT 2 either.

Jephael 01-25-2003 09:41 PM

From what I understand, they thought the Casey Jones character was deemed too scary. It was reported that he reminded people too much of Jason from Friday the 13th.

raphael90 01-26-2003 12:31 AM

tmnt

Judith Hoag was a good actor and played a good April. The other April I didn't mind I guess, but now that I think about it, some continuity with actors would have been nice. Yeah, Casey would probably have made good in Keno's role...(no diss to Keno's actor, he was good).

Casey scary? I never saw the Friday the 13th movie, but please...I thought he was if anything funny. A perfect rival for Raph.

casey and raph were more like friends than rivals

mabe at first they clashed abit but they made a good team

xZAOx 01-26-2003 12:43 AM

i agree with japheal. i mean, the whole reason tmnt 2 was the way it was, was b/c of parents bitching about the first one being to violent and what-not. and casey is the most violent character there is, more so than raph if ya ask me.

c'mon, the guy likes to beat the living hell out of purse-stealers with a hockey stick! if they got rid of the turtle's weapons, of course they are just gonna get rid of casey altogether.

when they brought him back in the third one, he was such a tool. all cleaned up and happy. bleh!

Eye of Sarnath 01-26-2003 12:54 AM

Casey was really lame in TMNT 3, such a great character wasted on such a small part.

Come on, everybody likes Casey Jones. He's the coolest TMNT character that isn't a mutant! And he's really cool in the new 'toon, good to see he's playing a larger part.

In fact, I was disscussing with another TMNT fan the other day just how incredibly cool Casey is. Then we complined that he wasn't in the old cartoon enough, which he wasn't, only three eps I can remeber...

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-26-2003 01:24 AM

Thanks,guys/ Yeah,I did notice that the Turtles are "weaponsless" in TMNT 2 for the most part{except the opening scene}. Casey was a "tool" in TMNT 3! He did almost nothing of note whatsoever! I mean,c'mon! They brought Tastu back, and he remained almost the same. While we're on the subject of "axed" characters, having Shredder die in TMNT 2 kinda killed TMNT 3 for me. I knew from minute 1 that he would be non-existent{except maybe as a ghost}. But then came that whole "Back To The Future" plot :-? :x Whoever thought of that idea totally missed the point.
Oh well. Here's to hoping for a TMNT 4! :tsmile:

That Matt Guy 01-26-2003 02:06 AM

Have you seen the actor that played Casey now? He has a tremendously large forehead due to his receding hairline!

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-26-2003 02:27 AM

lol

If that is true, The parents are to blame for that to.

Nturtle 01-26-2003 09:15 AM

Yeah the parents made TMNT 2 into a more cartoony movie than TMNT 1 was, which bugs me a bit. Also Shredder was played by somebody else too

cable04 01-26-2003 09:48 AM

donny could use his bo-staff in TMNT 2, so they weren't ALL weapon-less

casey was cool in the first movie, and should have been in the second one.
i hate actors who think they're too cool to play parts anymore

keno was cool too, though.

i hate the third movie. it's such a waste of turtlemania. "let's make them go back in time!"

a fourth movie, done properly, would be awesome

Deathknight 01-26-2003 11:21 AM

I liked all 3 tmnt movies no matter how they changed them because of stupid parents. Although, tmnt 1 will always be my favorite. But I really think they went a little overboard saying that the tmnt watched too much tv in the 3rd movie. Michelangelo: "Clint.... Eastwood?" -TMNT 3

Jephael 01-26-2003 11:23 AM

I thought Don's baseball and pinball game references were great though.

xZAOx 01-26-2003 01:05 PM

the time travel idea is actually related to the original comic book. they travel in time in a number of issues. that basics of the plot didnt bother, just the horrible execution of the idea....

Yhea, If well executed it could have been great! They should have had Renet and perhaps the ancestors of what would become the foot, and also (this would've been realy cool) a feudal Japan version of the Shredder.

And oh, It would be inspired by the Seven Samurai, with the Foot and Shredder substituting the bandits, and the four Turtles, April, Casey, and Renet substituting for the samurai.

Man, I wish I could go back in time and fix TMNT 3.

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-26-2003 04:11 PM

Yeah,a Feudal Japan Shredder would've OWNED. :o A different guy played Shredder in TMNT 2? They looked alike, same voice?

Karpo_007 01-26-2003 04:26 PM

I guess that Shredder's voice wasn't that hard to imitate.

That makes at least 4 :P :P :P

"4! Count 'em, 4 Turtles!"
Donatello from "Cowabunga, Shredhead"

Karpo_007 01-26-2003 04:35 PM

Night of the Rogues has casey too.

Reznorite420 01-26-2003 04:37 PM

OK, that makes 5 :D

Deathknight 01-26-2003 07:52 PM

And those are the only 5 he is in, Casey owns though. He was awesome in all the tmnt universes except the 3rd tmnt movie. Although when the honor guards first come through time he was gonna fight them until Kenshin came in. "Alright boys, who's first in line?!" *Kenshin enters and honor guards drop their weapons* "Ah.... ancient wusses" -TMNT 3

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-26-2003 09:32 PM

Yeah,he wasn't all bad in TMNT 3. At least he was in there{unlike TMNT 2}.

xZAOx 01-27-2003 12:21 AM

i just watched outlaw heros. hes hilarous, haha. that voice kills me!

on a side note, i just got done repainting my casey jones' duffel bag and weapons. after i finish up the golf club, im gonna post my pics in the customs thread (of which i seem to be the only one adding stuff hehe)

anyways, i really like how the duffel bag turned out! altho it doesnt take much to beat solid green haha

raphael90 01-27-2003 12:33 AM

casey

I just wanted to comment on the side, that I agree that the whole Casey's ancestor in movie 3 was pretty strange. He was a weird character. He was all sullen and silent for a time, then he starts trying get to know April, then he betrays everyone.... I mean was it really an elaborate plan to put him in the dungeon with April, have him escape, follow them to the rebel's town, then kidnap the woman? They didn't even know the Turtles were going to show up and rescue April from the dungeon. The story of that movie sure got weak in places...and the new look the Turtles and Splinter had...ick :dead:

Now the Casey back in New York was funny however...

*pathogenic out*

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-27-2003 02:42 AM

True. "NY Casey" should've had a bigger role.

Reznorite420 01-27-2003 10:58 AM

Was he really a relative of Casey? As far as I know it was just Elias Koteas playing him because he was the only guy who could be found to play him.

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-27-2003 12:11 PM

Yeah,i think it says that he's Casey's relative. I'm not sure,I havent watched it in a while. :(

Karpo_007 01-27-2003 12:13 PM

I think that because they paid for Elias Koteas, they wanted him to have more than a small role.

If you watch the part where the Rebels take the turtles to their villiage, Raph walks up to Whit and says "Hey pal, you got a relative in Brooklyn? Nah!"

Deathknight 01-27-2003 04:13 PM

I don't remember that part...

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-27-2003 07:37 PM

That sucks. I always assumed that Whit and Casey were related. I mean,c'mon! Playmates released a Whit figure that came with a catapult and could "transform" into Casey. I assumed this was due to them being related. Oh well. :(

Kali 01-27-2003 10:42 PM

Well, while they don't really say for sure that they're related (although distantly) it's implied, since they resemble each other so closely. So if you want to think they are, go ahead! It's not gonna hurt anything.

the fugitoid 01-27-2003 11:19 PM

Heh. I've been on the board less than 10 minutes and already I find another fan from SA, TX. 8)

All I remember from TMNT 3 was horrible jokes along with cheap production. In retrospect, I really think pt.3 was lame. Too bad. As it was said earlier, the idea was solid, but the execution just wasn't there.

raphael90 01-28-2003 12:05 AM

casey

April did mistake him or at least saw the resemblance...but I guess that doesn't pull alot of weight.

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-28-2003 11:05 AM

yeah,It would've been better if they worked on it longer. It seemed like a rushed attempt to breathe some life into the TMNT movie franchise, and it showed. The animatronics and lip-synching is pretty bad in TMNT 3-you couldnt tell they were animatronic/guys in suits for the most part in TMNT and TMNT 2. It's kinda obvious in TMNT 3{at least I think so}. :(

cable04 01-29-2003 02:59 PM

i think the 3rd movie was just lame. it probably could have been cool, but it just wasn't there

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-29-2003 03:09 PM

true.

That as the first thing I thought of when I saw the first couple of scenes. In the third movie the don't look like mutated turtles, they look like guys in costumes... :(
