Tatsu,Rahzr,and Tokka-where did they originate?

Were they from the comics or created specifically for the first two films? Let me know if you know, thanks! :)

Jephael 01-28-2003 09:27 PM

As far as I can tell, Tatsu and the two mutants were pretty much loosely based off of Krang, Rocksteady and Bebop.

darthsmozers 01-28-2003 10:04 PM

Heh I remember in grade school kids would say it was really Krang inside of Tatsu, etc LOL.

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-28-2003 10:16 PM

 I never thought of it that way! Thanks, guys! :)

darthsmozers 01-28-2003 10:18 PM

But wait...when was the second movie released in relationship to the first episode of the cartoon? Just wondering...

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-28-2003 10:28 PM

It was released about 3 years after the cartoon began.

darthsmozers 01-28-2003 10:38 PM

AH, OK. And, sicne the TMNT had gained such a large younge audience, having mutants was the way to go.

Now, the question is this: Where did the idea of KRANG come from? The utrons? if so, why changed so drastically? to make shredder more of a "team player" of the baddies rather than a warlord from the first movie?

the fugitoid 01-28-2003 11:04 PM

He was definatley originated from the ideas of the Utroms, but I think he was changed simply as a vehicle for more things to happen in the plot. IOW, a peaceful race of aliens didn't have as many story possibilties as a manial brain creature from Dimension X. As for Shredder, I think they made him "nicer" simply because the movie or comic version of him might have been too scary.

darthsmozers 01-28-2003 11:07 PM

Was Dimension X an original idea for the cartoon? as with the technodrome?

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-28-2003 11:28 PM

I think they were, but I'm not sure. :-? Any help anyone?

darthsmozers 01-28-2003 11:30 PM

well, krang was an idea for the show, and the technodrome is his i guess? so maybe...anyone???

Deathknight 01-28-2003 11:40 PM

Krang was an idea made specifically made for the cartoon as was the technodrome. Dimension X I'm not sure about though.

Karpo_007 01-29-2003 12:10 AM

No dimesnison X in mirage...

I think you're pretty much correct. I remember reading somewhere that the movie producers wanted to use Rocksteady and Bebop in the second movie but Peter and Kevin told them there was no way they were letting them in the movie. So.. Tokka & Rahzar were created.

Mondo_Gecko 01-29-2003 01:15 PM

Aww man is that reason stupid Laird & Eastman,. I Wanted Rocksteady & Bebop!!!!

Karpo_007 01-29-2003 01:16 PM

:sweatdro:

raphael90 01-29-2003 01:20 PM

bebop and rocksteady

I must be clueless to some obvious reason...why wouldn't they want Bebop and Rocksteady in the second movie?! That would have been the greatest!! :D

Karpo_007 01-29-2003 01:30 PM

Well the second movie was so bad that Rocksteady and bebop wouldn't have made it any worse.

Mondo_Gecko 01-29-2003 01:48 PM

The Second movie wasn't that bad Karpo

Sparvid 01-29-2003 01:50 PM

Yes, it was... :P

Karpo_007 01-29-2003 01:56 PM

Depends what you compare it to. If you compare it to the first movie, it's pure crap, but If you compare it to the third one, it is ok.

Neither of them like Rocksteady and Bebop.

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-29-2003 03:45 PM

No,it wasn't. TMNT 3 was the worst. TMNT 2 was actually pretty good{except for Vanilla Ice being in it and Shredder dying}. Laird and Eastman probably didn't want Rocksteady and Bebop in the movie because their costumes would've been time-consuming and expensive to make{not sure :-? }.Also, does anyone know why the Chemicals company that produced the ooze that mutated the turtles is sometimes TGRI and TCRI? Which is correct{comically}? :-?

Kali 01-29-2003 03:54 PM

They changed TCRI to TGRI for the movies because there was/is a company by that name. In the comic, and new cartoon, it is TCRI.

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-29-2003 03:59 PM

Thanks for the help,Kali! :)

Nturtle 01-29-2003 04:01 PM

Tokka and Rahzar were actually originally supposed to be smarter (relatively) like Bebop and Rocksteady, but they decided to make them really dumb later

I heard that too. They were supposed to be even dangerous. Well we all know how the movie turned out.

Nturtle 01-29-2003 05:30 PM

They do trash the turtles for a little part and they are kind of funny like with the donut part!!!!
But I know what you mean Karpo

Mondo_Gecko 01-29-2003 07:08 PM

Where do you guys hear these things about the movie. Lke Tokka & Rahzar being smarter? and is it official Laird & Eastman hated Bebop & Rocksteady and didn't want them in the movie. Because if they did they crushed the dreams of kids going to the theatre to see them and had Wolf and Snapping Turtle instead.

Aztec General 01-29-2003 07:16 PM

Well Tatsu is pretty much based off of the Foot Elite from the Mirage comics. They are Shredder's right hand men who do his dirty work for him.

Oh and just so we all understand: THE SECOND MOVIE SUCKED!

Donatello02 01-29-2003 07:29 PM

I wish the second was about Baxter and the mousers, and then the third about the Utroms. But thanks to the uptight parents that didn't happen, did it? Stupid Vanilla Ice.

darthsmozers 01-29-2003 08:38 PM

Lets not turn this topic into debating whether the movie was good or not.

So, we've pretty mcuh determined Tatsu is just the right hand man, whether based of the elite of the Foot Clan or not. Actually, the description of Hun for the new cartoon seems to fit that mold as well.

For the purposes of creating two mutants, a baby turtle and wolf seem easier (and well within budget) to use rather than a Rhino and a Warthog. Other than that, I think the cartoon mutants were known too much for their silliness, whereas this movie might have needed a more serious approach (more serious than the cartoon so it can fit more with the first movie.)

Karpo_007 01-29-2003 09:17 PM

The whole movie was kiddified, thats why they needed more mutants.

They wanted MORE serious characters so they created T & R? Have you seen these characters in the movie? Do you call them serious? Let alone MORE serious? There was nothing even remotely serious about the second movie, especially those two large children with fur and scales.

darthsmozers 01-29-2003 10:10 PM

yeah, they were pretty dumb, too. But, they didnt have the slapstick humor of bebop and rocksteady...they were meant to be serious, only shredder didnt know they were babies.....

in any case, u know what i mean :goofygri:

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-30-2003 01:37 AM

Yeah, true. That made for the best quote from TMNT 2: "BABIES! They're BABIES!" I guess Tatsu is kinda similar to the Foot Elite, since he had the highest training next to Shredder. Hun's role will probably be similar. I always wished that Tatsu would be in the cartoon or in future movies,he had some great lines{although he was somwhat "sissified" TMNT 2}. "NINJA VANISH!" :)

heretic888 01-30-2003 11:50 AM

hmmmm

where did they come from??

well, tatsu is obviously based on the shredder elite, ther'z no denyin' that.

but as for rhazar and tokka... where did they come from??

the answer is very very simple:

drugs. and lots of them.

OrokuSaki's#1Fan 01-30-2003 01:29 PM
