No thanks, the only thing they were good for is showing who Krang/General Traag were trying to conquer in Dimension X.
However they are more than welcome to bring back General Traag and the Rock Soldiers. They were cool. |
Cmon dudes sombody who like neutrinos?
Kala is good if dony will like April why not mikey like Kala. I read 4kids think to put Kala in fast foward but they dont put it and this is what they want to look. http://th05.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/...Patchminka.jpg |
not a fan, not a fan.
|
Mondo Gecko what are you thinking to put him he is cool.
April and Casey will be teenagers i think neutrinos and Gecko are good for story becouse they are teens too. |
Yeah, my least favorite episodes of the FW series were the ones with the Neutrinos. Not a big fan...at all.
In fact, I agree with CyberCubed. Bring on the Rock Soldiers and Tragg. I swear Tragg was way underused in the FW series. Bring back them, forget the Neutrinos. |
I loved the first neutrino ep. The rest were pretty weak... especially The Grybyx & Four Turtles And A Baby.
|
I didn't mind the Neutrinos as a kid. Looking back, I still don't mind them...just need to update them and ditch the 50s lingo.
|
i think they r cool.
|
I just watched the second episode they were in and I have to admit it was the first episode so far in my watch along that I got a little bored during watching.
Maybe if they updating the characters they would be more interesting?? |

Don't really want em'
Then again, all I really remember from them is they had flying cars, Mikey had a crush on one of them, and the quote, "Daddy-O, we are frowsin'!" |
I thought I was in the minority in not liking them, well I wouldn't mind seeing them in the new show but there is a huge list of others I'd like to see first. I mostly never liked them since I thought of Krang as this powerful overlord fighting bloody wars in Dimension X and then we see they fight the freaking Neutrinos who just want to have fun, I mean that literally takes away all the threat that Krang had. Obviously they would be re-tooled, I mean the Neutrinos reek of the late 80s.

I also think it's cool that not everyone was completely controlled by Krang or whatever. Just think of them as rebels going against Krang's regime. Or maybe set them up like Sonic and his friends in Sonic the Hedgehog where they were a rebel group in hiding against Robotnic's ways and refusing to conform to it (or be roboticized). It could work, I feel. |
I don't think they brought much to the plate in the original series, but the idea of "hipster" rebels opposed to Krang's tyranny is a good one, just fine tune it with modern sensibilities and a more "serious" look to them and they could go over well...thier midget-like apperance and, worse, midget attitudes, sold the idea terribly in the original series.

HOW DARE YOU ALL POST SUCH BLASPHEMY! LONG LIVE THE NEUTRINOS!
In my opinion, the Neutrino children were fun in the OT because they were portrayed as party kids. The audience, made up mostly of children saw the neutrinos differently than us dromers do these days. However, for the new cartoon, I think there is some potential for interesting stories based around the neutrinos if: 1) The designs are changed completely 2) They stop talking and acting childish. Perhaps writers could take some inspiration from say, John Conner. The Neutrinos as a sort of rebel group fighting the Krang... |
I've always liked the Neutrinos but I honestly don't think they should be used for the new series.

All super villains need rebels (sorta). That's pretty much what the Neutrinos were. I personally feel that they would work well if updated right. Ditch the 50s slang and we'd be all set. Threatening rebels against Krang's regime. |

I liked them in the first episode they appeared in. I agree that if they were to appear in the new series, they would need to be revamped (e.g. their hairstyles). If we get more backstory on the Kraangs, it would be cool to see the people the Kraangs encountered prior to their appearance in the series (that's if the Kraangs are warlords like Krang was, but we'll have to wait and see if they happens).
It would be great to see Rock Soldiers! General Traag and Lt. Granitor were one of my favorite parts of Hot Rodding Teenagers from Dimension X. |
I really have nothing against them. Their introduction made Dimension X into something other than a plot device. The beatnik personas made sense at the time because it was an image that carried great nostalgia in the 1980s, but I really don't think they need a revamp for modern audiences--at least not in that area. Besides, they piloted flying 1950s pimp-mobiles! If you don't think that's cool, I question you. I like the idea of the turtles falling in love, Kala actually is pretty cute, and it makes sense that the most quintessential teenager in the foursome falls for another stereotypical teenager.
The real problem with them, the way I see it, was that they didn't really come off as anything but rebels without a cause in the OT because it was too dedicated to comedy at the expense of adventure, and it was mostly set in New York with little views of Dimension X given. Had there been more depth to the conflict between Krang's faction and the Neutrinos, and we actually seen the results of Krang's tyranny, the characters could have come off legitimite heroes; immature ones, but identifiable to children in being so, and not so immature they don't have a sense of justice. So often is the case, I love the old cartoon for its extensive zaniness, but I feel that it didn't really live up to much of its potential as an action-adventure series; its attention span was just too short and its cave-ins to censors just too much. We got a lot of characters who could have been interesting had there just been more development, and a lot of situations that could have been exciting had there been better action and continuity. I could write an excursion into Dimension X that was as exciting as the "Turtles in Space" arc of the 2003 show. Renet was at least as ditzy and naive as the Neutrinos were; to the point of actually damaging the space-time continuum, but she was obviously a sweet character with her heart in the right place, and the episodes with her took good advantage of her unique abilities to set up a good story arc. You could do the same with the Neutrinos. However, I can't say they'd fit into the Nick show because we don't even know if Dimension X will be in it. There's been hopeful posts about the Krang being led by the Krang, but from the info released I'd say it sounds like their leader is Shredder. I don't see much reason for the Neutrinos to be there if their enemies aren't. |

As far as I know they haven't even confirmed a Dimension X, which means no Dimension X no use for them. I would kind of like to see the Nick Toon stick close to the new IDW TMNT origins but that doesn't sound like the case. So in the event that they are quite a bit different, I would like to see Rock Soldiers and Tragg show up in some form, whether they are from Dimension X or simply golems, rocks/statues brought to life with advanced technology or magic. If Dimension X is in it, then I guess I wouldn't mind featuring some of the oppressed people from it, but they would need a huge update. |
It would tricky incorporating them just like it is trying to bring back Bebop and Rocksteady. They would need to be perhaps rebels of The Federation and get mixed up in another version of the Fugitiod debacle. Their 50s' era slang and attempt to emulate needs to be thrown out and perhaps updated. Maybe a teen wardrobe from the late 80s/earl 90s as a tribute to the OT or contemporary look just with their wild hair?
I would like to see a way for either Nick or IDW to bring back General Traag. The problem in IDW is Krang is the general so why not his direct suborinate such as Brigadier Traag? |
If they decide to put them in the show they should update them at least and make them sound like how teenagers act like today. They should also make Kala mikey's age.

I hope for subatomic particles as well... though I doubt we'll see them... without really powerful microscopes. :shifty:

Har de har har.
I must ask, why do people object to the 1950s motif? Is it just because it isn't nostalgic to people now the way it was to people in the 1980s? It's fair to say that the 1980s themselves are the nostalgic decade for most of this board. |
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but for me personally, I can't stand them. When ever I rewatch my season one DVD, I always skip over that episode. Can't pinpoint exactly why I don't like them, they just aggravate me.
:tgrumble: |
I'm kind of indifferent to the Neutrinos. As its already been stated, the OT was more of a comedy than an adventure cartoon, so they weren't able to be utilized to their full potential as characters. If there's a Dimension X or an equivalent to it in this show, then I think they should be brought back, as long as they're retooled and given more purpose in the plot.
I thought the 1950s vibe they had about them was cool. If they make an appearance in the new toon, perhaps they can replace it with a 1980s motif instead. |

Then again, this generation has the Fallout series, which blends 1950s culture with futuristic technology. Still, those games are rated M; kids don't play them and the adults who do might not remember the 1950s, but many at least have parents that did. Now many people who were children of the 1980s, including the original TMNT show or even the comics, have children of their own. Perhaps even a few who grew up with the 2003 show now have (much younger) children. So yeah; the 1950s are dated.
Keep in mind, though, that if this show is too insistent on being current, then "bodacious," "dude," "babe," and other iconic OT lexicon will be outdated too. Modern younguns say "sick," "dawg," and "shawty" instead, and the stupidity of it all makes me so sick that I long to order an attack dawg to maul one of those people and use a double-barreled shawty to take out another. I may be biased because I hate this modern slang, but I feel that TMNT shouldn't follow trends; it should set them. Yeah; the Old Toon did that more than the 2003 show, but I still say "What the shell" all the time when discussing the whole franchise, and this new show is going to dial the "teenage" aspect up, so I think it's time to start spamming totally radical slang again. I think "cowabunga" was already outdated when the OT started, but Michelangelo brought it back into style. Also, the Neutrinos are aliens, so it matters less that they have weird attire and mannerisms compared to the norm. Given that their clothes were a mixture of 1950s and alien, and some 1950s styles came back in the 1980s, I feel the Neutrinos also look just about as 1980s as they do 1950s. I also think the 1950s make a great deal of sense as the decade to ape when doing weird-but-humanoid alien culture, because that was the heyday of hokey science fiction; it was something of a national obsession. I think at least the 1950s cars need to come back; that sort of thing never goes out of style and these cars were originally designed to look like rocketships. |
Recently, it was discovered that neurtrino particles move faster than the speed of light, so perhaps that could be referenced with some new sci-fi concepts that travel between dimensions. But I'd say they're as likely to come back as the Channel 6 crew. Perhaps a new name could also suffice that are Occupiers or Tea Partiers (the most recent rebellious movements) could give it a more current and fresh viewpoint.
But there is still something about the 1950s (with some 1980s thrown in) that I still enjoy, even if it will be considered the grandparent's generation of the new series. 3D movies actually were initially popular in the '50s, and predictions of flying cars continue to fascinate many people. Lots of furniture and decorative art stuff are now considered pure antiques from that era, as opposed to simply being vintage back in the '80s. The Jetsons from the tail end of that era still continues to be rerun on Boomerang, and has some similar plotlines that gave way to the Neutrinos. There is still a place for Neutrinos in the TMNT world, especially against the Kraang! |

Dimension X
As it is not in Mirage (what I know), who, if any, is credited with the Dimension X concept. Where did it comes from? Wikipedia says it was a 1950-1951 science fiction radio show?

Did they ever return in Archie? Can't recall, even if the TMNT visited Dimension X some times.
