What would a Season 0 "Prequel" be like?

Sure we've discussed about Season 11 possibilities, there very well could be a good story that turned out to be a prequel to the OT if it got its own season/mini-series, and below I have just a few questions for discussion.

How would Hamato Yoshi's friends and students fall by the wayside? (remember that the origin story told in Turtle Tracks was a flashback)
How would Oroku Saki become The Shredder and start his Foot Soldier robots?
How would he encounter Krang?
How did the Technodrome get built in Dimension X and how did Krang get his Rock Soldiers?
How did the baby turtles get born and end up in the pet shop?
How did Shredder decide to create and release the mutagen into the sewers?
How did April O'Neil start her career at Channel 6?
How did Bebop & Rocksteady grow up and start their gang?

Now here's the thing (and I'm sure this has probably been debated before on these forums), I've always been under the assumption that the Technodrome was created on Earth. Cause if Krang already had the Technodrome, what would he need Shredder for? I've always assumed that Drakus created the designs for the Technodrome, and Krang stole them.

Stingray69 01-27-2012 09:22 AM

Even with the drome and shedder. Krang failed to get much accomplished.

Create a body for Krang, as mentioned in season 1.

The Technodrome wasnt 100% ready, as Krang was hessitant to open the Dimensional Portal until he had a body. Shredder also had a crime ring and connections to the underworld, which gave Krang readily availible forces on Earth, and the same connections could attain vital technologies that could maintain The Technodrome and even arm it with defenses. It's one thing to have a battle station, it's a whole other kettle of fish to keep it operational and safe.

CyberCubed 01-27-2012 10:00 AM

We should also see Krang's partnerships with Beserko and Shreeka. In Season 8 Berserko confirms that he designed the Technodrome.

We could also see some "toddler" Turtle stories. I know they mutated into their teenage forms immediately, but eps of them training before they went above ground.

And who built the Technodrome if it was created on Earth? I would say it was built in Dimension X, and Krang was sent away, opening a dimensional portal (not the Technodrome one) from Dimension X to the Milky Wat Galaxy. After drifting through interstellar space, it crashed on the Earth (in some deserted landscape) and Krang qucikly used to burrow it underground to be unnoticed.

Another concept would be if Krang was banished from Dimension X inside a small spacecraft, finally crashing on the Earth. However when arriving, he contacted General Tragg to send the Technodrome, built in Dimension X, to the Earth trhough a dimensional portal.

I actually did write a story, "The Shredder is Born", to answer several of the questions. Okay, maybe Shredder accidentally travelling to Poland may have been overdoing it.

I always thought Shredder invented the mutagen, believing it was deadly, as Krang said it was Shredder who tried to kill Hamato Yoshi using it, but instead he became a rat mutant.

ZariusTwo 01-28-2012 04:57 AM

Shredder didnt invent the Mutagen, Krang had to give him instructions on how to make it in "Invasion of the Punk Frogs"

Ha, I read that story. Shredder grabbing the punks by the umm... private parts to make them listen was a little too much. Otherwise it was a fun story.

Thanks.

The idea was that Shredder did it to humiliate as well as torture the punk. Years ago I heard a British former soldier mention that during World War Two, two soldiers were caught by the Japanese, and they cut the soldiers' genitals off and sew them to the insides of their mouths, and it gave me the idea for the scene.

:o Woah. I heard the Japanese were cruel but I never heard anything like that. Well... I'm glad Shredder didn't do that!

Shredder presumably assumed that this was as far as he dared go if he expected the punk to continue working for him.

I can't remember which episode it was that he gives Shredder the formula...but leaves out an ingredient till the last, but it wasn't Punk Frogs. That mutagen wound up in the swamp via portal malfunction.

Then which one is it that has the mutagen being sent to parts unknown via portal malfunction? I could swear that was Punk Frogs...since it sends it to the Okefenokee Swamp.

That was Invasion of The Punk Frogs. An interdimensional storm caused it to open in the Owkenokee Swamp instead of the abandon warehouse in New York City. In fact there were two episodes in the series and coindicently in back tp bacl episode which portal complications was used as a plot device. Shredder wanted to get more mutagen since the portal mishap occured and so he had the Punk Frogs steal from a chemical company to get the three of the four that makes the mutagen.

In another one which Shredder is mixing the mutagen is in Enter: Mutagen Man. The Bindex-3 was supposed to hold the mutation's body together. That may be one of the four chemical or something else altogether .

The only prequal I can see is maybe a few fight between Yoshi and Shredder when they were in the foot clan or maybe as a team in the clan

Kazou Saki

I would like to see Shredder's brother Kazou Saki, who works as a policeman in Tokyo, chasing his brother, just like in "My Brother, the Bad Guy" and Shredder's mother Miyoko. Oroku Saki and Miyoko would built an empire of crime in Japan (with human Foot soldiers, since Shredder hasn't met Krang yet) and Kazou Saki tries to stop them.

There is definitely enough content for a "season 0", however I can not believe they never revealed or explained exactly how Krang/Shredder met,t his is too big of a plot point to never be explained even with a throw away line.

That wouldn't be possible! Don't you see that they instantly become teenage in this version?

But say if it was a 13-episode season (8 here plus the 5-episode pilot). This is how I would break it down:

1. Rise of Hamato Yoshi: Hamato Yoshi, a young Japanese sensei, trains in Japan to become a respected member of the Foot Clan. Oroku Saki makes an appearance showing how jealous he is of his fighting style, along with the fact that he is being treated unkindly by Yoshi's friends. Meanwhile, April O'Neil, a young woman, upon moving from LA as an intern at a radio station, decides to apply for work at Channel 6, but it won't be easy against a tough staff. Meanwhile on Dimension X, an alien brain named Krang forms a clan of Rock Warriors and forces the Neutrinos to flee after creating a small alien ship.
2. Oroku Strikes: As Saki continues to get more jealous and bitter, he comes up with a plan to take over the clan and become master. It ends with a bitter battle that results in the slicing of Hamato Yoshi. Meanwhile, in the ocean, a tidal wave causes four baby turtles ashore, and must prevent themselves from becoming Turtle stew by first the sea creatures and later the humans upon reaching the shore. Bebop and Rocksteady realize that they are dropping out of college due to poor grades and decide to form a street gang. The police try to arrest them, but not before they flee uncuffed. The blueprints for the Technodrome are laid out and construction begins,
3. The Escape: Realizing that Saki is a lethal threat to Yoshi, he escapes via airplane to New York City. But before leaving, he must ward off an attack by a new creation: The Foot Soldier robot, capable of striking down airplanes. Meanwhile, the baby turtles, now in New York City, must ward off a bunch of steet thugs, including a group led by Bebop and Rocksteady, before a young woman, April O'Neil, still waiting to be accepted at a job, finds them as innocent and safely takes them to a pet shop. Thanks to various dimension X technology, the Technodrome gets built at a fast pace.
4. Rise of the Shredder: Upset that Yoshi has escaped, Oroku Saki becomes the Shredder as he discovered a hi-tech laboratory and creates a mask and body armor that protects him for seemingly everything. This upsets his family and brings them in utter disbelief to the point where Shredder's father tries to calm him down, but unfortunately he is killed, causing his mother and brother to flee forever. Fortunately, a bright portal shines and Shredder manages to escape. Meanwhile, the turtles inside Tom's Pet Shop continue to wonder if they will ever get a buyer.
5. News near and far: April O'Neil finally gets accepted as a reporter working for Channel 6. She meets Burne Thompson and assigns her to her first story, covering the crime problem. In the middle of her first report meanwhile, a strange sound occurs and forces many to run for cover. It's the Technodrome, now complete! Fortunately, it lands on the edge of land, allowing without too much effort to be sunk into the Hudson River. Before this happens however, Shredder leads a branch of his Foot to capture a midtown skyscraper, the Manhattan Security Services building, and puts all employees under the Foots control.
6. Turtle Trotting: In Tom's Pet Shop, a young blonde boy decides that the turtles feel like they will be his heroes, and decides to purchase them. On the streets, Bebop & Rockstead's gang decide to place their spare parts from the junkyards over storm trains in hopes to attract creatures underground. It causes that boy to trip, and the turtles escape down the storm drain! Shredder, still unaware of who's controlling the Technodrome, learns through Technodrome technology, now burrowing below the city, that Hamato Yoshi still lives when it passes directly under his lair with the baby turtles.
7. Mutagen is invented: Shredder, who still doesn't have privledge to see the entire Technodrome, decides to break into the surface at a scientific laboratory. But, as April tries to warn that top secret chemicals have been stolen, gets captured! She eventually is freed, but not before these materials get sent back to Shredder in the Technodrome. Meanwhile, the baby turtles, although with tiny brains, really seem to follow Yoshi's commands well, and even eat pizza crumbs! He senses that they make great students for him.
8. The Great Mutation: In the Technodrome, Shredder finds an ant that snuck in, now testing his new mutagen. He finds that after touching it with himself, it turned into a giant ant! But given how useless ants are, decides to mutate it back with his retromutagen ray. This gives him a plan to seek revenge on Yoshi, given that an ant or most other insect would make him powerless and that a rematch would be an easy win for him. So, as the Technodrome finds sewer exits underground, Shredder pours mutagen at each tunnel. Meanwhile, Yoshi comes across the mutagen, and it is on his turtles! Then, the turtles mutate and become the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. A moment later, Yoshi shrinks a little and becomes this Rat. First, he faints as if he just died. But Leonardo talks this mutated rat, calling him Splinter, to explain what just happened. On the streets, Bebop & Rocksteadys gangs and the Foot Clan are starting to go ballistic into robberies, burglaries, and causes most of the human public to get a gun to stay safe.

Then, Turtle Tracks happens.

I always figured April started out reporting on fashion shows... since Burne always threatened to bump her back down to that job if she got on his nerves too much.

Retcons are magic.

In all seriousness, I don't really think a Season 0 would be all that interesting. It's a bit like that Bruce Wayne TV show that WB had in the pipeline a while back. Batman's history is certainly interesting, but we want to see a show of Batman, not Bruce Wayne. Any past history could be referenced with a throwaway line or flashbacks. Even a time traveling episode would work.

Type 97 Chi-ha 02-05-2012 11:26 PM

When I saw the Season One episodes, I did get two impressions that I incorporated into the fanfic I wrote:

1) The episode which showed Hamato Yoshi's being framed and being expelled from the Foot Clan gave me the impression that it would have taken more than Oroku Saki's pinning of Hamato's kimono to the wall to cause the two men accompanying the old master to accuse Hamato of treachery, and that they were in league with Oroku Saki in the first place.

2) Krang would certainly be motivated by fear and frustration when he was stuck on Earth with the Technodrome but no body or companions except mutant Stone Soldiers with their limited capabilities, and fear and desperation as well as greed and ambition would certainly have ultimately motivated Oroku Saki to throw in his lot with a space alien.

A season 0 showing Kraangs rule in dimension x, and ending in his defeat and banishment/body loss, could be interesting.

Shredder's armor isn't a hi-tech one, and noone shall notice the Technodrome. I always imagined Krang being banished from Dimension X, with rockets put on the Technodrome sending it away. When all rocket fuel was used, it was slowly drifting through interstellar space (with Krang in hypersleep or whatever) before reaching the Milky Way Galaxy where it finally crashes on the Earth, probably on Canada's northern islands or into the Hudson Bay in Canada (OK, maybe noticed by some Inuit) but unlike "My Brother, the Bad Guy", the Technodrome is not hurt much this time. Krang quickly burrows the Technodrome into the Earth's underground, where he stays and tries to stay in contact with his army from Dimension X via communications.

Another interesting thing would be Shredder's brother working as a policeman in Tokyo, and another thing would be set after season 1 with April meeting Irma.

And when did the Turtles became like "instantly teenagers" in this version? It's just a flashback.

But your ideas sound nice, why don't you write a fanfic about it and publish it on Fanfiction Net (or some other website, tell which).

All I want to see is;

What Shredder did to the original Foot clan members. Did he have them killed, banished, or "fired" (:tlol:) when he decided to replace them with the Foot Soldier robots? Or was that his plan to replace the original members from the beginning?

And Krangs final battle in Dimension X before losing his more powerful reptilian body. Was it ever specified who mutilated him? Part of me hopes it was the Neutrinos because that would be the biggest insult to Krang.

I doubt Shredder killed them off, as the show has ordinary 1970's, 80's and early 1990's cartoon tune, so he would probably just fire them. Remember that the show had Splinter being Hamato Yoshi, probably to avoid Hamato Yoshi being killed off.

There is a fanfic here in this website about Krang in Dimension X.

How Baxter Stockman and Shredder meet is explained in "A Thing About Rats". And with the Purple Dragons, I suppose you mean that old gang where Bebop and Rocksteady are members.

My idea is that the Foot Soldier robots were meant to supplement rather than replace the human Foot Clam members. It's pretty much impossible to bring large numbers of people to the USA from Japan, especially those who are part of a known criminal network.

Foot Soldier Clang 02-06-2012 01:39 PM

Most of the original clan members could have also left of their own free will because of their conflicting views with the Shredder. With only a hand few left to serve his will, Shredder might've just given up trying to find new recruits and just decided to go for something stronger that never questioned him.

I'd be inclined to think that "something" happened to those who opted out. They probably weren't killed, as nobody ever died in the OT, maybe they were framed and imprisoned.
