Defense of Ninja Turtles 2014

So we had Kevin Eastman, Megan Fox and Michael Bay all defending the new Ninja Turtles Reboot while the fans are blindly despising this Film!

Now we have Alan Ritchsons Defense and response to all this Mayhem: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hea...-mutant-439723

Check it out, and get hype. :)

Or hate, if you're still skeptical...;)

chrisdude 04-15-2013 01:16 PM

Lots of other important details in there. Everyone needs to watch it.

We really need a News Thread relating to the Ninja Turtles Reboot!

There is absolutely no important details or info in that video.

Unless people didn't know that motion capture one sucky feature is that the actor don't get an costume:roll:

Not really sure what important details are in here. The whole video is of him saying it's going to be great without any actual details.

Bob 04-15-2013 01:48 PM

Just bloody announce who's playing Splinter already.

ObiWanFan4life 04-15-2013 02:09 PM

Who is Will Arnett Playing

chrisdude 04-15-2013 02:09 PM

  • Even if it's not surprising, Ritchson gave the first description of the mocap tech with any detail.
  • He confirmed that the actors are doing at least some of their own fight and stunt work.
  • He said everything on the internet is wrong, indirectly denying the alien rumors. No one has denied the alien rumors.
But, maybe none of that is important?

Tazi 04-15-2013 02:13 PM

It's not the alien part what worries me. It's the fact that a bad director (Michael Bay) will direct it, and a bad actress (Megan Fox) will play one of the main characters.
They've got a lot to prove...

The video itself doesn't really tell anything new. Mocap with CGI, sure, dunno if it was said before, but seriously, are there anyone who expected something else?

Wow, there are idiots who still think Bay is directing? I thought we were past that.

He didn't say a thing about the aliens....

chrisdude 04-15-2013 02:22 PM

If we didn't talk about things like this, there wouldn't be anything to talk about. There hasn't been 'news' in Movie Discussion since Will Arnett signed on.

There isn't anything to talk about, everything he said we practically already knew!

CyberCubed 04-15-2013 02:23 PM

I've gotten past the point of fearing about this movie and am willing to let it crash and burn.

The only reason I hoped it would be good is it would theoretically extend the life of the Nick cartoon because they'd keep the show around for the period of movie sequels.

So, after checking the facts, Jonathan Liebesman as a director is even worse than Bay.

oh yes, stated that he was in a mocap suit. A spandex with ping pong balls attached to it, that's mocapping for ya, big news!

own stunt work, isn't that given when at least the actor playing Raph is athletic enough to do the safer stunts?

He denied nothing and confirmed nothing, it might as well been a comment about people screaming that Michal Bay is raping their childhood and that people are early predicting the movie to suck.

There was still the occasional post by people who thought these guys were just voice actors...

I've been saying that since the day his name came out, but people didn't wanna believe it.

I think claiming everything on the internet is wrong counts as denying 'something.' You may not put much stock in it, and I don't blame you. I still expect alien turtles, myself. But he did say it. We've got a big long thread about Eastman saying less than this.

Okay. Well let's add a couple more pages to 'How old were you when you saw Ninja Turtles the movie?'
It's better than nothing.

Geez. I didn't even star this thread... :trolleye:

Just to throw more fuel on the fire,
it was the same case with the new Evil Dead with the original guys saying "It's gonna be good" and the fans saying "NO!"
However this is Michael Bay now and so far I haven't seen one of his movies I did like lol
Plus: Megan Fox who's only movie I been able to watch is Jennifer's Body and in it she's disgusting and possessed lol

I'm trying not to pass judgement until the movie has something to be seen from (trailers, etc) but, so far, there is nothing about this project (aside form the name) that has caught me.

sdp 04-15-2013 03:15 PM

Fans are over-reacting. I'll wait until I see the trailer to really judge.

Ramboraph4life aka Matt 04-15-2013 04:43 PM

Not to sound rude but why wouldn't he defend the film? It's the biggest movie the guy has ever been involved with...

I've heard that whole "trust us, just wait for the film, trust us" mantra when films like Nightmare on Elm Street remake, Total Recall remake, Fright Night remake, The Thing prequel, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and such were being made.

I had a gut feeling, saw them/gave them a chance, and my gut was right. So I think some people do have legitimate reasons to doubt what Hollywood puts out, and have reasons to have very, very low expectations. Especially when none of the news is really anything to go jumping for joy about.

And I don't know why but this part stuck with me (yes I'm sure I'm looking too much into it. But i tend to do that from time to time):

"We're running around Manhattan, me and Megan Fox, her looking wonderful and me looking like some kind of ant with cameras all over my face."

So Raphael and April running around Manhattan? Hmm. From the sound of it, it was just the two of them instead of "all of us running around Manhattan" aka the other actors playing the other turtles.

I'm sure I'm looking too much into it though.

chrisdude 04-15-2013 04:55 PM

He also mentioned wearing the mocap suit 'in public.' Couldn't have been too public...

Slade 04-15-2013 05:16 PM

I just wanna know who is the chick that popped up behind him!:D

If this doesn't calm the angry fanboys down, then nothing will (Until we see the trailer) Alan Ritchson is very honest, and he even said that he empathises with all these crazy fanboys. Clearly he's one of us and had his own doubts, but hes seen things that we haven't seen yet, so lets give this movie some chance!

Come on, it's not like they got EVERYTHING wrong, they have WETA doing the Mo-Cap stuff...which is guaranteed to be amazing. :)

jenna 04-16-2013 03:27 PM

It’s good that anyone working on the project has the passion to defend it and aspects of it sound awesome.

But it’s all very well saying that the comments on the internet are wrong, but if it weren't for the leaked script and comments made by Michael Bay himself then there wouldn't be an issue. The speculation is going to continue until someone with authority comes clean with us about whether the concepts behind the leaked script have been shelved / modified. And gives a definitive answer rather than tip-toeing around the point with sales-speak and waffle.

They are dealing with a subject that has been close to some people’s hearts for nearly thirty years. As a fan-base we have seen a lot of ‘reboots’, some great and some disappointing. No-one can say we haven't dealt with change. Every turtles incarnation has had its own angle. Knowing that many fans have read or read about the leaked script how could anyone expect us to sit back and wait for the film without an ounce of apprehension? We all care about the integrity of the franchise and want to see them make the best of a really awesome opportunity.

If the turtles are aliens (and everything else that goes with it) then I for one would rather know now. That way I can get used to the idea and go into the cinema prepared and just be entertained. :D

Couldn't agree more. Except - if they are aliens, well, I certainly won't watch this in the theaters, and probably would only rent just to see how bad it is. It took me 8 years to build up the courage to watch "Batman and Robin", and only was able to after watching Batman Begins, because I knew we were past that ridiculousness and finally got to see Batman portrayed on film the way I thought he should be.

When it comes down to it everyone needs to just chill and be happy and support the new film. Quit the bitching pissing and moaning. I mean now someones complaining cause he's filming alone on the streets with Megan Fox instead of with the other 3 turtles. uhh you don't know what the films about so how do you judge a film based off of a part being filmed? unreal people... unreal! It's so aggravating to listen to people nit pick about the dumbest stuff. So far just to name a few I have heard... "Oh it better have a Asian actor in it" "ugh splinter is going to be to short" all that crap I read on this board. Who cares if splinter is shorter then usual. Does his height bother people that much? To complain about some of the dumb crap I have seen and read is just insane. I can't wait for the new movie. 2014 couldn't come fast enough.

Slade 04-16-2013 04:24 PM

Dude not everybody is going to be supportive. You're excited, that's great. I'm not just yet. No big deal. If people don't complain what is there to even really talk about?

Complaining about complaining is that much better, huh? People are passionate. If you want to sit there and blindly accept everything without questioning the reasoning behind it, in a productive discussion starting way as everyone else has, then just keep it moving...

Yeah really...

Anywho, I'm not sure personally how to react to the whole thing without knowing more details. Theoretically speaking, if it does involve 'aliens' as I've often heard and read about I'm not exactly looking forward to it. I'll watch it, yeah, but there's no guarantees I'll like it.

On the plus side, 2014 is still a long time away and there are still many details that could be revealed between now and then, so patience might be key :trolleye:
