2K12 Shredder, insane or not?

This thread is just a thread to post what you think if shreds insane or not :)
and say why or why not

TobTurn 05-02-2013 05:57 PM

No, I don't think so, but he's very very stupid. He's blinded by revenge, he's an incompetent leader (has no idea how to handle the Turtles, just look at how the '03 Shredder handled the Turtles and how this one handled them). I still think this Shredder is awesome, mostly because of his voice, but he's a really, really bad villain.

CyberCubed 05-02-2013 05:58 PM

He a bit one dimensional so far, but that's because the writers keep focusing so much on the Kraang and not enough in the Foot Clan.

Bit disappointing, the kids growing up with this series might think the turtles main enemies are the Kraang instead of Shredder and the Foot Clan.

Powder 05-02-2013 06:04 PM

Someone doesn't know what insane means.

So...the guy with the C'hrell avatar and signature thinks he's a better Shredder than the Nick Shredder...

Nope, not at all biased.

It's a good point. Maybe because he does the same tractic over and over, each time expecting to beat the turtles, that qualifies him as insane, by definition.

It's only the first season. And it makes sense that the Kraang are getting more attention since they're the ones who want to mutate the whole planet and wipe out everyone else. The Foot will most likely be getting more attention after the turtles foil the Kraang's invasion plan.

Anyway, Shredder definitely does appear to be alittle nutty in the head, considering he didn't even care about what Karai said to him about the Kraang in "Enemy Of My Enemy" and was just focused on getting the weapons.

Well if you strictly compare Season 1 4kids Shredder to Season 1 Nick Shredder, the 4kids version was much more threatening and calculating.

By this time in the 4kids era the Turtles already had 3 major fights with Shredder.

And the 4Kids series had how many MAJOR threats for the Turtles to deal with. Oh, right, just Shredder. You said it yourself, much more is being made of the Kraang so far. The Foot (for better of worse) is very much on the back burner.

Just because I'm a big fan of Ch'rell doesn't mean I'm biased. It's just the truth. What has the 2012 Shredder done well exactly? He sent his lackeys after them and when that didn't work he just did nothing for a few weeks, just to send his lackeys after them again.

Didn't work either, so then he decided to fight them himself (something Ch'rell did the very first time he had the chance, after he found out he couldn't get them to join him, something the 2012 Shredder never even considered, he could've used them to find Splinter). Well, both Shredders beat the Turtles, but both teams got away.

2012 Shredder's next step was to destroy the Turtles' home with chlorosurfonic acid, it doesn't work, the Turtles beat The Foot again, and AGAIN Shredder does nothing. At all. He just tells Karai to ''destroy them when you have the chance'' and he himself just sits on his ass.

Ch'rell on the other hand sends his ninja into the sewers, causing the Turtles to flee, but he finds them and beats the crap out of them (even WITH Splinter present there this time!). He practically killed them if it wasn't for that secret door in the closet in April's store. What does 2012 Shredder do? Let Baxter Stockman do his dirty work without even knowing anything about his plan or what he's gonna do (the Maze).

This new Shredder is an incompetent idiot.

ObiWanFan4life 05-02-2013 06:40 PM

Yes..and no, while he's driven and obsessed with revenge, it also makes him a huge MORON.

CyberCubed 05-02-2013 06:42 PM

And old toon Shredder is the funny kind of incompetent Shredder. :)

Yup! He was probably insane too :p

Jester 05-02-2013 07:19 PM

I don't necessarily disagree with you TobTurn, but there are some things I think people are missing.
1. This is a much more comedic take on the Turtles than the 4Kids series was. It will make the villains a bit more incompetent and and buffoonish, because the series on the whole is not as serious.
and
2. The 1st season of the 4Kids series was set up to ONE major threat, Shredder. The Nick series is establishing 2 major threats Shredder and the Kraang, and the threat of the Kraang is shown as a bit more eminent. That and April's plot ties more to it than the Shredder plot. Sadly this Shredder's role is lessened for the sake of the Kraang.

oldmanwinters 05-02-2013 07:21 PM

Well, a guy who dresses up like a tin can opener CLEARLY has "issues."

Leofan26 05-02-2013 07:29 PM

I'll wait for the second season to decide this, so far we haven't really seen much of the guy :)

Overlordofnobodies 05-02-2013 07:57 PM

I dont think his that insane. Mind you I think all comic book bad guys have to be a bit insane.

He a lot better then the other two Shredders in my book so far but that was not to hard to tell the true. The 80's Shredder was all was a joke but that was how all bad guys act that way. So no big deal to me.

The 2003 one was a lot better bad guy at first but as soon as we find out he was nothing more then a little brain guy in a robot body he become worst then the 80's Shredder in my eyes. I just cant like a bad guy that is zero threat with out there suit or weapon or what ever. All so it did not help they had hald a dozen other Shredder after him.

So far I like the 2012 Shredder. Beside loving his look(I love how he is all scared up) and his voice. I like how it only take to time before he did went to get his hands dirty. First he let his number one man try. After that did not work he let his number two try but unlike other comic bad guys(other would have got some one else or let the third fav try.) He gone out and would have kill them to if not for the plot(the turtles are the main good guys. aka they cant die.)

Why yes I agree he is a bit obsessed and a bit of a moron. All the Shredder are obsessed with killing them and all bad guys are morons. If they where not then the show will not go on for very long now will it.:P

This. The only one I like better is the Shredder from the first two movie. The 2012 Shredder is pretty good.

Avatar Yuffie 05-02-2013 08:48 PM

He's not insane enough IMHO.

The insane Shredder bit goes to 2K3 Karai.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I really want to see more of the foot clan, and less of the Kraang. We wouldn't have this problem if they just teaamed up already  Anyways, I do SOMEWHAT like that they're focusing on the Kraang more because the episodes involving the foot feel fresh and special compared to the Kraang episodes.

Candy Kappa 05-03-2013 01:26 AM

Nick Shredder isn't insane, just obssessed and one track minded about getting his revenge.

We'll see more of Shredder and the Foot when the Kraang is dealt with. The Kraang is much more important to stop sicne they want to terraform the world and take over it, while the Foot is after just the turtles.

BabyTurtles 05-03-2013 02:13 AM

well let's see....

1) he wants to kill his old rival....
2) he wants to kill ninja turtles...
3) he told karai that splinter killed his wife XD.....
4) he'd rather get his revenge than save the world from aliens
5)....he doesn't even ASK how Bradford and Xever got mutated......and he seems even less interested in how the turtles are ninjas!

XD.......he might be a litttle..crazy.

but I thought all villains were.

BubblyShell22 05-03-2013 07:38 AM

I don't think he's straight up insane, but I do think he's too obsessed with revenge on Yoshi and the Turtles. We'll have to wait and see what they have him do in season 2 to see if he's really insane.

Also, I agree that 2K3 Karai lost it when she became Shredder.

Candy Kappa 05-03-2013 08:56 AM

Shredder have shown to let reason give him something to think about, like kidnapping that Kraang and not pursuing the plan of blowing up the whole sewer system of New York.

Vivi 05-03-2013 09:38 AM

Insanely boring, yes. He has a good VA though.

Indeed. I hope they make him DO more in future episodes.

I don't really see how this Shredder is buffoonish though, I mean the Turtles haven't even beaten him in a fight. The first time he was distracted by Bradford and Xever, and the second time he was hit by a Kraang ship.

Not only is the Shredder is an incompetent idiot and he also boring too.

Karai Samurai 07-11-2013 07:39 PM

All villains have to be a wee bit insane to be, well, villainous, but Shredder is not completely off the deep end. He definitely has some sociopathic tendencies, but again, that's just a villain thing.

Totally agree. The Foot (especially the Karai-centric) episodes feel more special to me. It seems like most of the Kraang plot will wrap up this season so I hope we'll get a more Foot focused season two.

JTH 07-11-2013 08:23 PM

It's still too soon to judge, the Pilot was all about The Kraang, the first season should center more around that.

I wouldn't say this Shredder is "insane", he does have a madness, but every villain should that.
