Anyone pre-order a PS4?
Pre-ordered mine back in June and with a release date being announced today for November 15th, I can't wait.
|
No. Preordered an Xbox One instead.
|
Not worth the money yet.
|
It never is. Early adopters are gluttons for punishment. Even though I have no interest in the PS4 right now, I know on launch day I'll be getting itchy. I pray to every god that I don't have the money for one sitting around, because I wouldn't be surprised to find myself hanging around outside a Best Buy at 2 in the morning on the night before.
|
At the current price? Nope.

do all of you wait 3 years for the thing to go down in price? it's 100 bucks cheaper than xbox one and the thing is almost 200 bucks cheaper than the ps3 when it came out |
No, I don't. I just don't give a sh*t about the exclusives Sony is touting for launch day. Money is never an object for me where games are concerned. For better or worse.

All of those titles...LEL

Did you not read the part where I said exclusives?

We are planning on Pre-Ordering the PS4, not sure about the Xbox One with how flippy floppy they've been... I'm not won over on the features enough to justify the extra $100. We will no doubt buy both eventually, but as far as preorders go Sony has their act together way better than Microsoft. Not to mention I prefer the specs on the PS4. As a game reseller, we own 20 systems for testing (and fun) purposes so we don't NEED both right away since for us the resale market on next-gen system games won't pick up for about a year. We still don't have enough demand on the Wii U (but then again, neither does Nintendo, lol).
|
I should also say that I mostly play on PC. I drained hundreds of dollars into my computer because I both enjoy the adventure of upgrading, and to play games with nice graphics. You can judge me all you want, my internet feelings won't be hurt.
So needless to say, I'm going to wait until there's a decent exclusive to warrant the purchase. |
You're a game reseller? Get out.

Oh, the flea market resellers. The one who tries to rip anyone and everyone off to the highest degree possible, or the one that's actually decent? I've got a feeling I already know.

Sheesh! Someone hurt you bad... I'm using my judgment deflector shield left and right here... No worries though |
The used game market is terrible lately. People jack up the price because they know people will pay it. I can understand the mentality, but we can't really afford it in these rough times. That's why Peanut is so upset. I feel for you, my friend.
|
Yep! I pre-ordered both a PS4 and Xbox One back in June when the pre-orders opened. I keep flip flopping as to which I'm more excited for. After seeing the Sony press conference at Gamescom this week though I think the current excitement leader for me is Sony!

Let's say I walk up to your place and ask you how much you want for a copy of something like Mega Man X. What would you sell that at? |
Quote:
I don't sell classics like that at my booth. I only go back as far as PS1 at my booth because of the wear and tear on the cartridges since they aren't a fast seller. When I get something like that I go on ebay or my contact list of people that are looking for something in particular. Right now I would sell Mega Man X for $15.00 to $20.00 depending on condition. Which is on the lower end of the current eBay average. I believe in asking a fair price for items. People return to me because items work, are as described and are at a fair price. I sell a lot of different items at my booth besides video games, they are just a constant. Before any further judgement please keep in mind this is how I make my living which is usually not anything to brag about... Lol. I'm a collector too, I just also get to do what I love... |
I was just wondering, because the majority of resellers I've dealt with are complete scumbags. Not just because they refuse to deal with people like me who won't pay $60 for a $20 game, but because they also put the screws to people who don't know any better, which I find much worse.
I didn't mean to offend you or dump on what you do or anything. Things have just gotten incredibly out of control in the game collecting space and it really sucks, so whenever I hear someone is a reseller I think the worst, despite knowing a few decent people in that business myself. Sorry, if I attacked you, dawg. lawl |
Too many current gen PS3 games to play to even bother with PS4.

A lot of the time my customers spend time chatting about games with me even if they aren't buying. Fine by me, I'm in it for love of the hobby, not for making money at all cost... I'd rather die poor and happy than rich and friendless! |
The launch list for PS4 is horrible. Every single game there is also being released on current gen systems that isn't exclusive. Watch Dogs and Ass Creed IV are coming out on PS3/360, and so are Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty.
Literally the only reason to buy a PS4 at launch is Killzone, but who really cares much about that? I think people will be way too engrossed in GTA V to even care, let alone stuff like Batman: Arkham Origins, Rayman Legends, Gran Turismo 6, etc. |
Someone sounds salty as sh*t.

I have both PS4 and Xbone pre-ordered on amazon. I got both orders in immediately after their E3 events so I'm near the top of the line and should get both on launch day.
I had fantastic luck with my launch PS3 so I'm not too worried about hardware problems. The architecture is a lot simpler this time around too, which hopefully amounts to fewer problems. I'm more worried about my Xbone... I may cancel that pre-order but have yet to decide. I have enough to keep me busy and am mostly early adopting just to have more stuff to mess with while I wait for actual games that interest me But I will say, 'Rime' (happy?) on PS4 looks perfect for me. I'm definitely keeping the PS4 order no matter what. |
What the hell is Rise on the PS4? Do you mean Rime? The game that's suddenly get Sony zealots in a frenzy, despite the fact it comes from the team who made the absolutely worthless Deadlight? A game that was all style and no substance?
Or do you mean Ryse? The XONE exclusive? Wat? |
I pre-ordered both the PS4 and the XONE. It doesn't really make much sense at this point but whatever.
|
I won't get a PS4 until sometime in mid/late 2014. Really see nothing worth getting on it now and the good games won't start hitting till mid/late next year anyway.
Then again I didn't get a PS3 until mid- 2008 either...which was 2 years after it came out. There's far too many PS3 games I still need to play, not to mention a lot coming at the end of this year. And then Wii-U and 3DS games. The new consoles have nothing worthwhile yet. |
yes I meant rime. I said PS4. God no I have no interest in that Xbone game.
Never played Deadlight but I am aware of it; watched some gameplay. It was their first game and wasn't terrible, just middling. Visually Rime appeals to me worlds better. Looks like a fun, beautiful game lots of exploring, which I like. Seems to be channeling ICO with, as many have put it, a touch of zelda, wind waker specifically. Why can't that just be enough? I'll enjoy it for what it is not gripe about what it isn't. Weren't you the one moaning about negativity and how "nobody loves games" anymore? Not every game I come across that looks interesting is going to scratch all the right itches for me. But if it can please me in a few areas, let me enjoy a world other than my own for a few hours in its own unique way, i'm down for that. Sides, I love Team Ico and since I can't be playing The Last Guardian anytime soon, I'm in the market for games like this to tide me over. This one and 'Brothers' come to mind. |
It's because Sony fans are propping this thing up as some kind of insane blockbuster of a game that's going to simultaneously be as engaging as a Team Ico game and full of the wonder and charm of a Nintendo game. They can't be excited that it'll turn out good. Cautiously optimistic about the developer making a large jump quality wise.
Despite my best possible attempts, I can't help but dislike games fanboys cling to like some kind of life preserver. So, it pisses me off the Sony kids are doing that over a game that looks like it had the potential to be really neat. Everything has to be used as ammunition in the fight to prove your choice of console is the correct choice and its tiresome. Also, again, said nothing definitive about Rime, just that its whipping the Sony fans into a frenzy despite its lineage. Also, again, go f*ck yourself for thinking people are making quantitative statements about an entire game because you can't comprehend. |

There's not a single game worth buying for PS4 this fall. Even cross gen games like Battlefield have worse graphics on PS4 according to IGN.
I'll get one in 2014. |

I'll just upgrade my PC instead. Less expensive, and more power.
