Wow, I really really really hope this is legit! I always loved Mona...and it's always great to get another female character, let alone a female mutant!

TurtleTitan97 06-02-2014 02:11 PM

Ehh, I don't know. I do have some questions if this is legit or not. I mean, it says she's the daughter of Baxter Stockman. And I can't really picture this version of Baxter being a father.

Candy Kappa 06-02-2014 02:13 PM

It's fan art.

Done by this artist, who's tumblr I found at first go googling the name in the picture of the T-Pose CG model

http://ishouldgetsomestuffdone.tumbl...s-for-the-tmnt

http://ishouldgetsomestuffdone.tumbl...t-mona-lisa-3d

Donatello19 06-02-2014 02:14 PM

So maybe this isn't real...I googled "Cree Summer Mona Lisa" and found this link to a tumblr post...which was made back in February:
http://darthempress.tumblr.com/post/...e-what-i-found

Here's the whole synopsis of her without the Rapunzel picture blocking it:

Quote:

MONA LISA

Carmelita Stockman/Mona Lisa (voiced by Cree Summer)- April O’Neil’s best friend and sounding board for her thoughts. Like her 1987 counterpart Raphael has a crush on her. Carmelita Stockman is the daughter of Baxter Stockman one of the Turtles’ enemies. Despite this the Turtles treat her like a good ally. Mikey Donnie and Leo enjoy teasing Raph about his crush on her. She is shown to be intelligent and smart. Her weapon of choice is a Chigiriki. She and Raph are known to bicker and take delight in teasing each other for their failures. Raph is known to make fun of her for being smart and geeky. She is mutated into a lizard/salamander/chameleon hybrid by her father as punishment for helping the Turtles. Despite her and Raph’s constant bickering, he is genuinely sweet to her usually when no one’s looking. She is also known to get along with Casey and Irma. She likes pranks, pizza, videogames, comics, monster movies and Space Heroes. This incarnation of Mona Lisa is missing one of her teeth, wears a pink hoodie black stockings and pink boots with her feet sticking out of them.
If this was made back in February, why would we only be hearing about it now? Seems fishy.

I don't think it's real. Did some digging and discovered that it has actually already been discussed here on the forums: http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/sho...t=46159&page=3

Too bad, I would've really liked to see Mona. Hopefully they'll put her in this series eventually.

Candy Kappa 06-02-2014 02:23 PM

No need for research before posting...

Powder 06-02-2014 02:48 PM

Gross. Do not want.

Candy Kappa 06-02-2014 03:09 PM

It's not a bad take on how Mona would look like designed with the Nick cartoon esthetics, but reading the character information the artists did (on the fan art) I'm not all that interested that she is immediately made as a love interest for Raph, a comforter to his anger, a replacement for Spike.

It makes her feel less of an character and more as just mere eye candy.

Agreed. I had a feeling that it was bogus and just fan art, because unless Baxter adopted, shouldn't she be uh... a bit more darker then that, even if she was biracial?

Plus I don't like Mona Lisa anyway, and I wouldn't want to see her in this show.

Also her backstory sounds a bit Mary Sue-ish and Nick!Baxter just doesn't sound like any sort of father type at all.

The model is a green lizard/amphibian, how would you tell what skin color she had as a human? :ohwell:

OOps, I kept thinking the Rapunzel picture was her. But still, I wouldn't want to have Mona on the show. She just annoys me too much.

This person doesn't do bad work, btw, even if it's Mona Lisa. I wonder if she used Blender?

Shiro Kame 06-02-2014 04:15 PM

Um...I'm kinda hoping it's not...I want Irma and Casey to stay human, and Mona to be her own character like in the OT.

Shark_Blade 06-02-2014 04:19 PM

Doesn't look legit.

But I'm game for more OT references. :tlove:

TigerClaw 06-02-2014 04:33 PM

Good thing that this isn't legit, That design makes Mona Lisa look like a Turtle with a tail without a Shell on.

fridaynightdestination 06-02-2014 04:45 PM

I have not seen the 80's cartoon since I was a little kid (sorry) so I don't know what that is. And I kind of don't want to know.

You can just search on youtube.

Sewer Sirens Podcast 06-02-2014 05:44 PM

It ... um, looks ok? But I don't like the idea of her being related to Baxter, and I agree with her looking too 'turtle', so I'm glad this is fake. Plus, I'm not sure I want her to be a love interest of Raphael.

I find it slightly annoying that she has to be the daughter of someone to have a connection to the turtles. I hope that thing of her being Baxter Stockmen's daughter isn't true.

snake 06-02-2014 06:20 PM

If the design was real, I wouldn't really like it because it's too cartoony. Its probably just the eyes and head shape.

Luckyday 06-02-2014 06:26 PM

Here's another image that shows it better. Concept art.

It looks better in 2d. I'd definitely like a different design for this show.

I have to admit it looks really nice since they opt out using human hair and use lizard markings instead.

Thank god. No disrespect to the fanartist, it's just a little too Sue for what I'd want to see in the show - like other posters have said, I'd like for female characters to have a bit more than "love interest" to them. It was coming across as very... twee. For lack of a better word.

Besides, if Raph's gonna have a g/f, it's gotta be Ninjara! :P j/k

That is really cute concept art though - would be great to see in a fan comic, maybe? I agree that it looks much better in 2d - and the hairless approach is original, I dig it. :)

MCLeo28 06-02-2014 07:30 PM

Too bad, it would have been really interesting if Baxter had to choose between mutating his daughter, or pleasing Shredder for his own survival.

Agreed. I hope if the author does see this that she doesn't think that we are bashing her art or calling it bad, it's that this character would really fit better elsewhere in a different and non- Nick TMNT medium. 8)

like where? In what type of show?

Lou 500 06-03-2014 07:08 AM

I've seen that girl's fanart around and really like her concept for Mona Lisa; she's obviously very talented.

Not a show, a comic book. That kind of medium.

Coola Yagami 06-03-2014 08:03 AM

The nick show can't write females so I assume Mona will be Raph's gf. I just hope they do that til her third episode and not right off the bat. I have nothing against her. I could care less about the fanbase since Mona has no control over that. How can she be annoying if she was only in one episode?

I'm curious how the show would handle her. Irma world be a good candidate since we don't know her that well yet. Karai is a no-no cause it would be weird seeing Mona act like Karai and have all that extra baggage. Miwa and all that jazz.

Curious how it would be seeing raph with a gf. Make it backwards. Don't make Mona fall for him. Make him check her out. It's always cool seeing old characters in new situations. Don can tease him about it too. Lol. I kinda see then doing that scene like the first movie when don teased raph about blushing towards April and him throwing a sai at him to shut him up.

DarthEmpress 06-03-2014 03:31 PM

If they bring Mona in, I'd rather her be older than the turtles and not a teenager. Making her a villain would be interesting, especially since Karai may not be in the Foot much longer, thus bringing our female villain quota down from 1 to 0.

I'd rather see April and Irma's personalities fleshed out before more characters are added, though.

Luigiperps 06-03-2014 03:55 PM

I'd like it is Mona Lisa was April's mom, as a reference to the original voice actor, and if they had the original voice actor.

Definitely - the character design is really, really good - massive props to the fanartist; I just wouldn't want her brought into the Nick show to be Raph's g/f.

Leofan26 06-03-2014 05:13 PM

Oh gosh no, I hope this isn't true, she was one of my least favorite characters of the series :(

drgon78 06-03-2014 05:39 PM

I hope this true to be honest we don't have any female mutants yet and this back story sounds interesting also Baxter Stockman has a child!

I like Mona Lisa a lot better then Venus.

I hope it isn't. Baxter doesn't need a child, he's awesome without some blood relation being tagged onto him. If she has to be there, let her be a non-human based mutant, simply a lizard that gets splashed with goo. That changes her origin quite a bit and makes it interesting, and removes any lame 'Let's give the villain a child' plots.

Ultimately, I hope we don't get any female mutants. Often they inevitably get dumped into a love interest role just for being female, they often never look ugly like the males sometimes are, and 99% of the time are 'hot babe' in mutant clothing.

NitpickingMask 06-03-2014 10:59 PM

Okay, I made account just for one post, but my account was activated two days too late, so I can't anymore point out its fan art... But I can point out two things:

The art and description are by separate people, they aren't connected together. In other words, in artist's version of Mona Lisa's background, SHE ISN'T RELATED TO BAXTER.

Secondly, source of the art is this: http://ishouldgetsomestuffdone.tumblr.com/tagged/my-art Tumblr. The person who did those is pretty good, though she seems rather fangirlish by behaviour.

Here is the original post http://ishouldgetsomestuffdone.tumbl...s-for-the-tmnt with design and description. As you notice, its not same as what original post had.

Though yeah, as you guys did guess(and the fact she is fangilrish), she is love interest to Ralph like in 80s show :P

http://ishouldgetsomestuffdone.tumbl...-yay-slash-i-m Though for all I know, she has shifted to Slash x Mona <_< I don't know, I just knew source of these fanart, I just know that this person wrote those art and her other friend caindoglover writers fanfiction which she comments on occasionally(and gets inspired to draw art, from what I quickly checked that other person started to write Mona x Ralph Nicverse fanfiction, but got sidetracked by making cute scenes between Slash and Mona. I don't know if it changed to Slash x Mona fiction or if its still Mona x Ralph pairing since I didn't actually read the thing, I do my research but I don't really bother to read fanfiction just to make one post)

Phew, I hope remaining confusions are cleared up now

Luckyday 06-03-2014 11:44 PM

Almost a shame because if the writers were very dead set on bringing Mona Lisa, I would really love to see this version as a purely aesthetic standpoint.

I really don't want her to be baxter's daughter. Being a daughter of someone is becoming too common place in this show and at very least I don't want her to have human hair. I know she started as a human but I find hair to be distracting rather then pretty. It's weird to say this but reptiles are beautiful in real life with the bright pigment colors and the bold stripes. You don't need human elements to make them lovely.

Agreed - and there's more than one type of beauty; I think that's something that we need to see more of. So don't worry Lucky, I don't think that's weird at all! :)

Agreed, reptiles/birds/other animals with human hair is just stupid despite it being common thing for artist to do.

Also, this http://ishouldgetsomestuffdone.tumbl...-with-her-hair It makes(or rather lack of it :P) makes a possible source for jokes.
