I'm going to go ahead and put it out there
Do you believe in the Illuminati? Simple question.
|
No, not at all.
What a weird thread to make, btw. |
I only made this topic because there is a lot of speculation on the internet that such an organization exists. I'd just like to know if they are real or not. I figured they were not real or no longer around in today's world, but there is enough doubt that it makes me wonder if they are real.
|
I do not believe in it because I see it as impossible to pull off.
|
That's a good point. It would be hard to pull off. It is a complicated world with various types of governments, so the idea that there is a puppet master seems highly unlikely.
When it comes to the Illuminati's existence, I'm agnostic though. They might be real, but my doubt of their existence is not an affirmation that I think they are real. |

I doubt most people actually believe in the Illuminati. The "Illuminati" are simply the rules of the most powerful countries and also owners of the biggest corporations. Who else could possibly be above them? |
IMO, there is no evidence to suggest that they exist at all, so, no I don't believe the Illuminati exists
|
Yeah! I read the official super-secret twitter all the time!

I could be willing to believe some old-time boys club, esp those of affluence and social or political power, might have wanted to think of themselves that way, or conspiracy theorist sorts outside those little groups deciding they're up to something like that. But legitimately...? Nah, really doubt it.
|
So... you're asking if I believe in a... New World Order...?
Spoiler:
......Obviously. :tcool: |
4 Life, bro. 4 Life.
But in all seriousness, I don't believe in the Illuminati as you describe it. However, my advice would be to not let what anyone else says dictate what you believe in. There are people who believe in God and have faith in religion, but I don't and I intend to keep it that way. |
You sure know how to make attention-grabbing titles, I'll give you that.
|
|
Nah. Don't believe in them either. I'm sure there are some shady folk in political circles but I guess that's about it. Maybe such an organization would devour itself if one ever existed. I'd hope there were more people in positions of authority who were willing to better humankind rather than to further the ambitions of themselves and a few of their pals eager to gain wealth and influence for greed's sake. I do believe that there are crooked individuals doing these sorts of things to further their own ends, but you see people like that in all sorts of professions. They're usually out for themselves and that's about it, really. Just look what happens to US government when neither of our parties are able to agree on anything for a while. A whole lot of nothing. I'm thinking of that brief shut down in 2013. I mean, those guys fight like a bunch of siblings but I'd like to think the majority have the people's best interests at heart. US does alright as a nation when we stop being silly and screaming at each other. We really do. That's all I'll say about government because I don't really like talking politics that much and I try to be an optimist most of the time if I can help it. Anyway, if Illuminati does exist, I bet they argue quite a bit longer and don't get anything done if they're in it for themselves. Seems like the inability to listen to the opinions of others and to work together to come up with a solution to such and such a problem often results in quite a bit of stagnation no matter the group. That's what I imagine is going on if such a group does exist. Especially if they're all self-centered old guys. Who knows? Haven't put too much thought into the Illuminati so I might be way off. haha
I do wonder how all these rumors of Illuminati got started, however. Maybe some small group of filthy rich guys started it in the 40's or so to see how a tun of conspiracy theorists would embellish it. Maybe their descendants just sit around reading that stuff and laughing about it every week? My fiancee and I spent a little time trying to find out possible motives of this supposed cabal. Making money? Ruling the world like Saturday morning cartoon villains? Furthering the order of,"Saaaatan?" Just meeting together once a week to have ribs and play pool or cards and waving a bunch of money at each other while arguing about everything and nothing simply for argument's sake? Same as that old-time boys club Indigo spoke of, probably. That's what I've always believed since there's really not any hard evidence to go on. A tun of opinions out there, but not too terribly much in the way of facts. It's just my opinion, but I imagine people make them out to be a lot more powerful than they would be in actuality. I've forgotten what they're supposed to have their sticky fingers into. Everything, if memory serves correctly. A couple profs touched upon them briefly when I was in college but not all that much. I also had an x who was deep into all sorts of conspiracy stuff. Still is from what my mom says. I remember my x saying that They shaped Washington DC's streets like a few of their symbols. Something to that nature anyway. More power to her if that's what she still chooses to believe. I was always afraid that she'd fall in with one of those groups who use scare tactics to make people cough up a bunch of money in order to keep it safe from Illuminati, only to find themselves scammed in the end. The girl I'm now going to marry says that I should just watch 24 because that's more entertaining fiction than the stuff she and I tried wading through online. What can I say? Some of the shows we watch inspire us to do research for curiosity's sake sometimes. Neat topic, Mt. Best of luck to you deciding what to believe here. This is more fun than Christmas shopping. I dread the crowds, hence sitting here and reading everyone's responses. |
Yes, I do, but not the punchline mockery modern pop culture has made of it in recent years. There are facts to support the existence of numerous secret societies who have influence over those who run this country.

The Freemasons exist but I'unno about all that other stuff.
One thing I learned a long time ago watching Garfield cartoons is, no matter how tight any group is, you can completely put them at each other's throats just by asking them what topping they want on their pizza. That said, if that's all it takes to turn people against each other, there is just No Way a group of people could ever maintain any kind of unity, and secret unity on top of that, long enough to manipulate events on a global scale. Plus, people are awful at keeping secrets. More would have leaked out by now. The entire idea of a successful secret society just goes against every fiber of human nature. I could believe one possibly exists but I have a hard time believing they'd ever have the "pull" people think/say they do. Just look what happened to the real New World Order... At first, they did whatever they wanted, but once they started letting guys like Virgil and Big Bubba and Stevie Ray in, they collapsed like a house of cards. |
Yes, there's plenty of evidence to support the existence of the Illuminati, it's been apparent in the entertainment industry for years, in cartoons, music, movies, you name it, all can easily be found without necessarily playing Beyonce videos backwards or something sillier. It has a fairly impressionable stamp that hides in plain sight, which harkens back to what Leo's saying...people aree terrible at keeping secrets, so they find it easier to be public about it, or to advertise it as "cool" and "part of entertainment" (like the wrestling NWO) most of Joe Q Public are so depressingly stupid they'll never piece any of this together anyway
"You were made to be ruled"-Loki, the Avengers |
I'unno man... It's kind of a far hop from, "A bunch of mostly-Jewish folks who took over for their parents, give jobs to their friends and family members, and don't let anyone from 'outside' join the club are the ones who run the entertainment industry" - which is true - to "There's a secret society that runs Everything, including the global economy and starting all the wars". As for those "hidden symbols" and messages and whatnot, that's people seeing what they want to see. Like the supposed hidden messages in songs played backwards. If you're listening for it, of course you're going to hear it. That doesn't mean it's really there.
I think elections are a sham and Presidents and politicians are chosen behind closed doors by corporations based on who will best-serve their interests, and the rest is all a popularity contest/beauty pageant to make people think their opinions really matter, but that's really as far as it goes. That's not exactly the same thing as what you're talking about. |

It's really best to do your own research and draw your own conclusions from there. For my part - I've never done much research on the Illuminati, but subjects like cryptozoology, ghosts and demons are something I'm very interested in. |

I'm starting to think you keep folders of this on your computer.

Nah, I don't have a place online to host 'em. I just search blazingly fast.
I always have very specific ideas in my head for what I want to use, and so far, Google Image hasn't let me down. |

Yeah. It just makes sense that there are secret societies out there who are controlling everything. I used to read about it all the time but I stopped a while back (for the most part).
For those saying it would be too difficult to control...I've heard that said before but I think that's underestimating humanity. Furthermore, that's what they want you to think. |
The longer I live, the more I know for sure that, if anything, people OVER-estimate humanity.
"Ladies and Gentlemen... From the same people who brought you The Edsel, The Challenger Space Shuttle, The 'Ferris Bueller' Live-Action TV Show, New Coke, and most of all, 247 'Fast & Furious' movies, we proudly bring to you... your All-Knowing, All-Powerful Global Conspiracy!!!":lol::lol: Seriously. People simply ain't that bright. |
Cuts both ways, big lad. I could say it came from the same people who invented the telegraph, the internet, penicillin, air travel and - most importantly - the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles :)

If Peter Laird was the head of a global conspiracy we'd all have died of boredom years ago.
And everybody knows those other things were developed from technology given to us by Aliens. ;) |
