Cool, nice to see some new news.

It's under his Filmography on IMDB.

Is he any good.

Yeah, He's done scores for the Transformers movies, Ender's Game, and Lone Survivor.

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy 09-05-2015 01:05 PM

Steve Jablonsky is AMAZING. Not quite as good as Hans Zimmer, but he studied under him and worked with him.

Jablonsky is a FAR better choice than Brian Tyler.

Chalk this up to another executive decision that makes me feel a LITTLE better and LITTLE more optimistic about the sequel...

TheSkeletonMan939 09-05-2015 03:19 PM

I've somehow managed to steer away from anything Jablonsky. But I'm certain that he's waaaay better than Brian Tyler. Actually, there are plenty of composers better than Brian Tyler. He's just really boring....

Foombamaroom 09-05-2015 03:22 PM

OH MY GOD.
THANK YOU.
This movie actually has something good going for it now. The only true good thing about the Transformers movies besides the CGI is the music. Jablonsky is going to create a great score: it's just what he does. At least he won't recycle a bunch of his old themes... *Cough Cough Tyler.*

I hope he can incorporate the classic TMNT theme to the score.

If he can do something like what the 2012 series did, which he probably could, then the score will be fantastic.
Honestly, his Dark of the Moon score was pretty amazing. "It's Our Fight" is one of my favorite movie soundtracks ever.

Even if its just little bits of the melody.

Candy Kappa 09-05-2015 05:17 PM

Dark of the Moon was so boring, I actually can't remeber any musical scores from it. Granted I only saw the movie once.

Maybe I should check out some off Steve's work.

Cure 09-05-2015 05:21 PM

Did he do that bitching track during the Scorponok attack in the first Transformers? Because that was great.

IndigoErth 09-05-2015 05:47 PM

Not a clue... but if it's a choice to add some hope (or lots?), awesome. :)

Good to hear something about it, and not close to last minute like last time.

DioLeo451 09-05-2015 06:03 PM

Thank god!!!

TheSkeletonMan939 09-05-2015 06:09 PM

I think I have a reason to get the Transformers scores now: to get a sense of what the next TMNT film will be like musically.

He's good with themes, Check out the Autobots theme from the 1st Transformers film. That way you can get a sense of what his music is like.

Decepticons Theme

And the Arrival to Earth theme.

Foombamaroom 09-05-2015 06:53 PM

These are my favorite tracks from him. I'm gonna put them under spoiler tag because, well... you figure it out.
Spoiler:

IndigoErth 09-05-2015 07:35 PM

Niiiice. Thanks for the examples, guys. Alright, another mark for the "pro" list of changes made, hope it keeps growing.

Machias Banshee 09-05-2015 08:21 PM

I love Jablonsky - I was saying he should have been used back when they were doing the First movie. :tlove: His use of percussion and choirs is amazing.

Sabacooza 09-05-2015 11:27 PM

I hope the score has more of a Japanese influence this time around.

The Turtle Terminator 09-06-2015 02:46 AM

Never heard of the dude, which is weird since 75% of all the music at own is film scores. Personally I would've liked John Willams, but this guy sounds like a start

I love the Battle score from Dark of the Moon.

bushido 09-06-2015 04:03 AM

Really good news! He worked for video games too.

letscook89 09-06-2015 04:09 AM

It's a great news. I liked the OST of Brian Tyler but Transformers' soundtrack is way better, especially "Arrival to Earth" :tlove:

Foombamaroom 09-06-2015 05:57 AM

Brian Tyler doesn't create any "memorable" soundtracks.
Jablonsky has at least soundtrack per film that I'm absolutely in love with.

That's kind of a huge wish, the man's like 80 years old and has much more important projects to work on right now, like a whole new Star Wars movie.

Jablonsky is fine for this film I think, especially after Tyler's lackluster effort for the first installment.

Admit yesterday I looked for a list of his work to see if he's done any game stuff, WoW in particular... lol No WoW, but that's ok.

TigerClaw 09-06-2015 01:40 PM

Hes a good composer, he can make good themes for movies, and even incorporate melodies from some music into the score too.

For example, one of the themes from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen contains the melody from Linkin Park's New Divide

I would love for him to add the melody from the classic TMNT theme into the score.

Gunstar_Red 09-06-2015 06:52 PM

The main "theme" of the first movie didn't have a mutant-y, ninja-y, or something that has a TMNT feel to it. It just felt so... generic... I hope this new composer could make something memorable or at least something that fits the subject.

This multiplied by one thousand.

That's cause Brian Tyler made a score that more of an adventure score.

Hopefully with Steve Jablonsky, He can create different themes for the Turtles, Splinter, Shredder, Karai, the Foot Clan, and Bebop & Rocksteady.

Powder 09-06-2015 08:39 PM

Adventure score? No way. Indiana Jones has an adventure score. Bayturtles had a bore score.

letscook89 09-07-2015 01:29 AM

Do you think we will have a remix of Shell Shocked for the credits' song, or a brand new song ?

Was kind of wondering. Hearing the samples of this guy's work I'm sort of hoping he'll have a hand in music for a new song that does the Turtles more justice than Shell Shocked bothered to attempt. (A new music genre would also be entirely ok by me... doesn't have to be rap after all.)

Maybe a little bit of dubstep, I'm not into rap.

IndigoErth 09-07-2015 11:41 AM

You 'n me both. (Esp the kind they used last time.)

letscook89 09-07-2015 12:10 PM

Yeah dubstep goes well with tmnt 2014. I would like to hear Bangarang by Skrillex in the sequel's trailer.

Autbot_Benz 09-07-2015 12:13 PM

I hope they don't use dubstep I hate that stuff. Dubstep isn't music its annoying noise.

Foombamaroom 09-07-2015 01:10 PM

I wish they'd do something like this.

Considering that they used the Reptile track from Skrillex in the 2nd trailer for the first film.

I hope they continue the trend by using another dubstep track, maybe for the teaser trailer?

But here's an interesting thing, Skrillex actually worked on some of the sound designs in Transformers: Age of Extinction.

Why do I have a feeling that played a large part in the choice. In the same vein as the film using Happy Together by The Turtles. (To think someone very possibly got paid to gather list of song/music choices that might be "roughly turtle or reptile related"... I hope the creativity goes a little deeper this time.)

Possible that it might be inevitable at some point then? Given these film makers' clear leanings on sometimes/often hiring from existing connections.

I had no idea The Turtles did that song. Groan.

But I DID love the Skrillex song for the trailer. Wouldn't mind another Skrillex song for the sequel trailer.

Although... the Sherlock Holmes trailers both used the same E.G. Posthumous music for bothy movies. I thought it was a little repetitive, but I could see Platinum Dunes reusing "Reptile" again.
