THE-X-FLO 02-19-2004 08:17 PM

I don't understand the meaning of education shows? What's the point?

Voltron 02-19-2004 08:26 PM

I loved the no smoking cartoon with Michaelangelo and the Muppet Babies

raphael90 02-19-2004 09:36 PM

education

Lol, I remember watching that anti-drug cartoon with Alf, Garfield, Muppet Babies and the TMNT (was it just Michaelangelo? I really don't remember what part he played). They showed it in like first or second grade...I enjoyed it because all my favorite characters were in it. They can make TMNT educational stuff if they want, doesn't mean I'm gonna wanna watch it or anything. :D

Incidentally remember on the episode (I think it was "New York's Shiniest") where the Turtles drove the van into the water to escape the robot cops? They come up to the surface and start commenting on how water is our natural resource? I found that funny...wonder if the TV network had them squeeze that in so there would be some kind of educational material in the cartoon???

Skeletoncrew 02-19-2004 09:58 PM

I'd love to see a safe sex announcment from the Turtles.

Savanti Romero 02-20-2004 01:50 PM

I want to see some more educational tid bits from the Turtles.

Splinter: "Strike hard and fade away without a trace!" :o

Ugh

I voted yes! But not regarding sex ed TMNT shows...I don't think there are nearly enough shows with positive values for kids today, and I recall that many of my views on goodness, etc., first came to me in simplified form via the cartoons I watched and comics I read (TMNT played a big role here -- particularly the wisdoms of SPLINTA). And of course you had/have characters like Donatello who emphasize learning (but goofy Michelangelo is always the favorite of the kids...). So yeah, I think the kids of today desperately need something like that, with the anime invasion and the dubs being stripped of any thought-provoking content they might've contained in their original form. And the stuff on CBS and Disney just suck for the most part...and the Nicktoons are fun, but they're a little too weird to have anything truly meaningful to say to the youngsters. Give us more speeches from Leonardo on honor! :)

Mikey *holding a cute lamb*: Don't use latex allergies as an excuse! Alternatives are available, though some are less recommended than others. Polyurethane is a safe alternative that prevents pregnancy and disease, and no one has to lose any skin over it! *lamb bleats*

Well, if we're going off of the high school model, its gonna be Splinter with a banana, because the teacher who does that demo is always the one you don't want to see doing it. You think Leo wants to see Splinter do that?

Jo Dawn 02-22-2004 10:56 PM

  Oh the mental image! Just imagine Leo's face. Any of their faces! Too funny.

I never wanted to see those kinds of demos -- but luckily, I can't recall ever having had an in-depth sex-ed course, so I didn't have to!

Tetsu Deinonychus 02-22-2004 11:02 PM

Good thing MY virgin eyes are made of an indestructable glass-like compound.

Skeletoncrew 02-22-2004 11:25 PM

Good thing my eyes lost their virginity LONG ago! :o

I remember our demo...the teacher had a wooden model called "Woody" that was basically a 6" dowel with a rounded end, nailed to a wooden base. He gave the talk, then proceeded to try to roll the condom on inside out.

Splinter *squinting at zucchini*: Ahhh yes. Well, as I said, it is very hard to tell which side goes up. If you start out wrong, as I just did, you must discard the prophylactic, and start with a new one.

Raph *raises hand*

Splinter: Yes my son?

Raph *Challenging voice*: What if you don't have another?

Splinter: Then you figure out a mutually satisfying way to spend the rest of the evening without exchanging body fluids with your partner. *Zucchini breaks as he tries to pull the condom on again.*

Jo Dawn 02-22-2004 11:30 PM

I never had that... "wonderful" experience at school where the teacher explains it using props.

That's too funny, SC... Raph challenging Splinter on that... :)

Skeletoncrew 02-22-2004 11:43 PM

Can't you just see the look of disgust Raph would make at Splinter trying to tell him to be happy holding hands or something? :dead:

You know, I think I can get an adult fanart contest out of this idea...

Wes 02-22-2004 11:53 PM

Oh, Skel, you and your wacky fanart contests.

And yet, sadly, I'd probably whip up an entry if one of your coveted metal medals were a prize. Me like shiny things.

Tetsu Deinonychus 02-23-2004 12:44 AM

I wonder if Splinter ever did have "the talk" with the Turtles.

I see four red faced turtles watching Splinter try and teach them about safe sex....
imagine if there were a few girls in the 'class'.......

i dunno..........

I don't think he figured he'd have to. I mean, he honestly intended for himself and the Turtles to spend their entire lives underground, with no human contact. I also don't think he has the idea that there are human (or at least other sentient beings) out there who would go for it.

If the guys ever showed any interest, I'm sure he would, but it would be more like "Don't."

:D I was hoping someone would do Shredder.

That's like... exactly what I'd want him to say, too!

*stands around looking vulnerable waiting to be kidnapped by Shredder*

Splinter with a banana?? HAW. I was thinkin' April... you know, she could be all like... sexy with it n' stuff. But then, the Splinter idea would be more hilarious.

And scary. :eyemouth:

S&M with Shredder and April!
Tonight we will cover anal sex and what NOT to do.

Like licked his plastic chest?
Snort.

Ya know what bugged me about the Shredder figure? It wasn't anything like the toon shredder. Purple mask? Blue armor? No shirt? He was too sinewy, not bulky enough. Plus he doesn't slouch like that. He's more of a tall standing figure.
