The Disappointment

The video game could have been 10x better...

they had the right idea but they didnt correctly take it into action...

THINGS THEY DID WRONG
_________________________

1. Kept the old game-style (brawler)
2. No Blocking move
3. No original Jumping attacks (Flying Kick)
4. Lame overhead 3D effects
5. Annoying repeated comments
6. The inability to punch or kick without weapons
7. The inability to use only 1 or No weapons...(x-clude Don)
8. The inability to switch Weapons w/ Casey Jones.
9. The inability to have 4 players on screen.
10. The inability to choose Casey or Splinter during story mode(along w/ the TMNT)
11. The fact that the only 2 real episodes in the game was the Pilot & "Nano"
12. They didnt stick to the story of the show...
13. They didnt have important events of the show in the Game.
14. Fighting mode is NOT 2 wins out of 3.
15. Could have been able to play every episode from the Pilot to "Return to New York part.3" (But they DID'NT)

I Could go on and on, but Ill stop for Now and see
what everybody else thinks...

Brandatello 03-15-2004 06:09 PM

Read it again... I said (along w/ the TMNT)

that means ...

EX.
1P=Leo 2P=Casey 3P=Raph 4P=Splinter

Thats what I meant...

Brandatello 03-15-2004 06:20 PM

oh XD

Kid Icarus 03-15-2004 06:28 PM

Augh, this has already been covered quite a bit. I wasn't happy with the game. Granted, it could have been MUCH worse though...

Why they didn't have 4 player support is totally beyond me. You'd think, given the power that the current machines have and the fact that there are FOUR TMNT, it would have clicked. Guess not though. And who the hell cares of the PS2 would have lost a feature? That'd be Sony's fault for not putting the (now) standard 4 controller inputs on their machine.

The game play got boring because A) The levels were bland, and B) the thugs in the levels were WAY too weak/stupid. The AI was too weak. I could stand next to an enemy and not get hit, they'd rarely seek me out in a level, and they didn't deal that much damage untill the final stage. Not to mention getting stuck behind objects.

Hopefully they fix this in the next one, or else I won't even waste my time with a rental.

jeff the cheff 03-15-2004 06:43 PM

I got a ps2, a multi-tap and four controllers, but I never get to use them. I really wish this game was 4 player.

jestergoblin 03-15-2004 08:08 PM

Gwgtrunks, you KNOW you'll rent it either way :P

Demented Utrom 03-19-2004 03:11 PM

Not having 4 Players was Konami's fault.

KONAMI RUINED THE GAME!!!

Raven 03-23-2004 05:46 PM

this game is fun, but its not worth 50 bucks, a rental yes.

it could have been a lot better, but its nice to have a tmnt game on the ps2, but other wise this is a game best forgoten.

i still think they should do a turtle game based off of stealth instead of pure fighting, i mean they are ninjas after all.

Peanut 03-24-2004 10:53 AM

The games framerate took some nasty hits in areas of the game with only TWO players, so four looks like it would have been horrific and unplayable. They must not have felt like putting much effort into getting a steady framerate going in order to have 4 players.

Gremlin 03-24-2004 01:27 PM

It's a cel-shaded game (the cartoony graphics) and for some odd reason, cel-shading uses much more of the hardware that "regular" graphics. In the state that we got this game, No console and barely the most powerful PCs would have been able to handle 4p-mode... Since the cel-shading still is pretty new, developers haven't really got the hang of it and how to optimize it.

Since TMNT is just another game based on a license (which is bad in 99% of the cases today), any attempts to optimize cel-shading just won't happen on this game-series. When a big game (like Zelda) have better cel-shading that's been optimized and doesn't use as much hardware, other developers will begin to use the same methods and smaller releases that the companies doesn't really care about (like TMNT) can start to use improved cel-shading techniques and with that, ability to play four player modes.

PizzaPower 03-24-2004 05:42 PM

i wish it was 4 playrs as well, and stop complaing at lease they are making tmnt stuff again!

Taloniss 03-24-2004 06:33 PM

But if we don't complain, they'll keep pumping out crap products, and no one wants that.

Psycho Andy 03-24-2004 07:53 PM

That's assuming they're reading our complaints, of course. If it hasn't happened already, some of us should make sure to email Konami, and list what we would like to see changed with the game.

redsai4lex 03-30-2004 01:11 PM

All the things I listed are perfect examples
that Konami should learn from...

Ill try to e-mail Konami...

There should be a big disclaimer at the beginning of this post that says "Mileage will vary". I love the game, and the friends I have introduced the game to really like it too. Its not the best game I have ever played, and yes, it could be better, but that doesn't mean it isnt enjoyable. Give it a rental first if you can, and then decide.

Mobius One 04-01-2004 02:48 PM

Does anyone else think that the new Turtles game should be like GTA with a big city that you could prowl around in and street crimes would randomly happen like in True Crime, and you could go on the streets, rooftops, and into the sewers. But also, I think that you could sneak around in the shadows like in Splinter Cell, because the TMNT are ninjas. I mean, they have already done all of these things in other games so I thik that it is definitly possible. The only thing is that if they made it like that, thn there would most definitly be no four or even two player support. :(

But still, wouldn't that be an amazing game?

Psycho Raph 04-10-2004 03:14 AM

Personally, I think if stealth was brought into it that it should be an option. For example, there could be an "Arcade Mode" where you're given linear paths and hordes of enemies and bosses to defeat ala the old TMNT games as well as a "Stealth Mode" which has more free-roaming mission-style stages that are similar to Tenchu 3 or something.

Krangfan 04-12-2004 08:59 PM

Personally, I'm happy with the game. Although I am stuck at the part with the monsters (from when they go underground). Grrr, stupid evil monsters!

Tigershard 04-12-2004 09:01 PM

If you are stuck on Notes from the Underground, you will have an even harder time on the final level. I finished it with a friend, but I can't seem to do it myself. Those elite guards and the double giant mousers are really tough!

If you know how to hit and run really well you might get lucky and beat the stage alone like I did.

If all else fails, get the Mikey code for "Infinite Exploding Shuriken and All Recovery Items are Pizza" and go to town with him.

Jonatello 04-13-2004 01:22 AM

I'm quite fond with this game

Krangfan 04-14-2004 05:48 PM

:D :D :D :D :D

I just beat the game! The ending was alright, but I got a new costume for Mikey!

Hehe, I beat it with Michelangelo first, now I'm working on Leo.

I beat it with Mikey first too! I was playing with a friend though. I'm having trouble getting through the final stage alone. I have both Raph and Leo up to there, and Don is at Notes from the Underground.

redsai4lex 04-22-2004 07:12 PM

it was pretty easy to beat this game by myself...

i'd rather play alongside my brothers...
