New Episode Discussion: "The Golden Puck"

Hehehe, and they thought they could get get rid of me..

    THEY WERE WRONG!!!!!

*evil chuckle*
Well, looks like we're going to have an interesting episode.

Super Slam Hockey? Kinda soudns like a mix of the NHL and Smackdown, dontcha think?

Casey: Two minutes for slashing.... two minutes for hooking...and three-Ahh! *suddenly gets grabbed up by the undertaker and piledrived into the ice*

*cringe* Maybe thats the reason why the ice has a pink tinge to it...

ANYWAYS...this golden puck suddenly comes up missing, and Good ol' Casey's gotta go retrieve the precious artifact.

Casey: This doesnt look that hard...
*dressed in Indiana Jones garb, slowly makes his way deeper into the "Temple of Gooooooooaaaaaallll!" Sees the golden puck and picks it up, not replacing the weight with a sack of teeth or ice shavings.*

Casey: Heh, that was easy...
*Turns to leave, but finds himself being chased after by mobs of angry goalies and fish raining down on their heads*

Obviously, the guys kinda figure that he's not gonna be able to do it on his own. You can imagine how that's gonna go...

http://www.kittie.onlinecomics.biz/IJ3_IA_35_R.jpg

Yeah yeah, wrong movie, I know... Just imagine it as Raph and Casey, with a lot of swearing... :goofygri:

Stay Tuned!!!

*hugs Machi's feet* Now THAT'S how you do an episode teaser thread! Don't you EVER leave me alone to do another one of those, you hear me? Do them in advance and e-mail them to me or something.

Machias Banshee 04-09-2004 03:53 PM

woah! *tries not to fall over* I'll try to that, but after may 12, youre mostly on your own til september...

Peanut 04-10-2004 06:38 AM

Is anyone else utterly disturbed by this William Hung stuff. :blanksta: As far as TMNT it actually started out fairly well. Not as cheesy as I thought it'd be.

Geist_2004 04-10-2004 06:45 AM

so far it seems like alot of overkill on the cowpokes part. why all of this for a trophy? hmmm :tcouch:

Peanut 04-10-2004 06:46 AM

That's exactly what I was wondering. There's been a few good lines so far. Where's the pie?

Edit: Well we've got a motive...I dunno...seems like a bit much just to own a team. :|

Geist_2004 04-10-2004 06:51 AM

Time to clot these clowns and get the puck! :tanime:

Peanut 04-10-2004 06:54 AM

"Nu uh! It was Bob what done it!" Well I'm quite glad to know that Mr.Hung doesn't have any pets...I actually laughed at that.

Geist_2004 04-10-2004 06:54 AM

*strangles William Hung and hides him behind the sofa*

geez... this episode is definately not my favorite so far...

Peanut 04-10-2004 06:56 AM

I've actually enjoyed this episode on a comedic level. There's been some great lines.

Geist_2004 04-10-2004 06:59 AM

"slim, we's under attack."
"by some fellas in funny frog suits."
"well... this is new york city boys."
"yeah...."

jestergoblin 04-10-2004 07:02 AM

Mikey's pie comments made this a "good" episode, its also nice to see Casey get some action...

"If this works, I'll eat my shoe..."
"But we don't wear shoes!"

Peanut 04-10-2004 07:03 AM

 Gotta love the Boss Hog line! Great stuff! Overall I liked it. The turtles pulled off some pretty sweet moves in the fight and there were a ton of great jokes. The motive behind the theft of the golden puck was pretty weak. When Don mentioned it was made a long long time ago for a prince I thought it would have something to do with that. Other than that I thought it was a pretty cool episode. Just one more thing. Why are hockey sticks always so poorly drawn in cartoons?

MrPliggins 04-10-2004 07:05 AM

Not one of my favorites, but not one of the worst either. I vote on average. It had some good lines, and was better than last week's ep. I was hoping for a prelude to "Rogue In the House" in the last few minutes, but oh well. I like Casey episodes, there doesn't seem to be many of them. It would have been nice to see April somewhere.
I liked the animation in this episode.. The hockey player animation was cool and it was kind of funny to see all the Turtles wearing hockey masks.

Was this episode anything like "The Unmentionables"? It's been about ten years since I read it, but I'd say very very very loosely. I liked the golden cow better than the golden puck, and Casey had better reason to defend it.

That and guns. they look like laser guns.

This episode was pretty good on a humorous level.

Peanut 04-10-2004 07:11 AM

I think they were meant to look like lasers because they were lasers. At least that's what Casey said in the intro.

Geist_2004 04-10-2004 07:12 AM

rocket maaaan. dadadadadada-da-da-da, rocket maaaan dadadadadada-da-da-da... :tparty: i guess this episode was ok, but it was deffinately a filler. oh well, they can't all be masterpieces.

Not just in this episode. In city at war part 1, The mobsters' and Purple Dragons' guns also looked like lasers

Jo Dawn 04-10-2004 07:16 AM

I liked it... I thought it was funny. Though, one of my favorite parts was Don reading at the game... And then correcting Casey on his hockey puck history.

There were actually alot of parts I liked in it. Them making Casey "sweat it" a bit... And I just loved how Leo said: "Yes, it's time to get the puck back"... Or whatever that line was.

But geez, what was up with Casey 'hiding' in the hotel room? He did an "If I can't see you, you can't see me" thing. Oh well. I liked alot more about it, but I'm sure others will mention the parts I can't think of right now.

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw that guy. And when Casey said that, I cracked up.

Phandral 04-10-2004 07:26 AM

Well I missed the first 15 minutes of the episode, but from what I saw, the action was SUPERB!!! A far cry better than last week episode. Damn, those turtles are awesome! :o I like how the new fight scenes look like choreographed Hong Kong action movies as opposed to the drab confrontations of the the original when Mikey always tied the villians up with the grappling hook, or Don would throw the bo staff at the lever that would conveniently drop the net on the villians who happens to be standing on the X-mark. SHEESH! We all thought that was cool back in the day, too. :P

Speaking of which: How come the censors wanted to get rid of Mikey's nunchakus, when according their logic, ALL the turtles should have not have their respective weapons?

Overall, I was highly entertained. GrantediIt wasn't as good as other episodes, but I think this should be the status quo when making the filler eps. You know you've got a hit when your worst episode is better than anything else you can see on Saturday morning! Good job, Dong Woo!

Anarchistguy 04-10-2004 07:31 AM

I gotta agree, the action REALLY made up for last week's episode.

Kane 04-10-2004 07:32 AM

And the "Stupid Villian" award goes to...

Dude, you're stealing the trophy to get your own team? Do you think the police will just forgive and forget? Ever hear of 'receiving stolen property'? You're gonna be managing your team back in jail, Tex. I think his hat is on too tight.

The Turtles should have just given Casey some Valium and gone home. The police could have handled this one by themselves.

Oh well. At least watching Casey's wacky antics was more entertaining than listening to William Hung. Why is this guy famous? Did he sell his soul to the devil in exchange for fame like Tiger Woods? Come on, *I* can sing better than him.

And where's the pie!?

Oh, I cringed when he did that... Sorry to any William Hung fans out there... But... *shudder*

Anarchistguy 04-10-2004 07:39 AM

Is that Hung guy going to appear again next week? He can't ruin "Rogue in the house" HE JUST CAN'T!!! I WON'T ALLOW IT!!

creativerealms82 04-10-2004 07:44 AM

Much better episode then I expected. It was not great but it was enjoyable and above average. Much better then last weeks even though that is not saying much.

Here is how I look at guns in TMNT if the blasts are yellow/orange, look like plasma bursts, sound like bullets when fired, and act like bullets when they hit something ther are reall bullets. Now if the blast are any other color, are look like a strait line, sound more like lasers when fired, and blow up a car in one shot whey are lasers.

Phandral 04-10-2004 07:54 AM

I think the guns looking like lasers is some sort of censorship contingency...kinda like what I asked before about Ol' Skool Mikey not having his nunchakus anymore. I assume the good ol' FCC requires guns in "animation for children" to not look like the real thing, in fear of curiousity leading toward fatal reprocussions...

jeff the cheff 04-10-2004 08:02 AM

I thought this episode was awesome! They could do such great moves with ice, so we saw a lot of new moves we hadn't seen before. It seems like all their moves are getting old and repetitive now.

Wes 04-10-2004 08:23 AM

My thoughts on the episode: Eh.

That's it. Eh.

And for some reason I was expecting Silver from Next Mutation to be the big boss...but I have no idea why.

Weren't William Hung's thoughts on pets really profound?!?!? And I can thank them later for putting him on, eh??? I certainly will.

WITH PAIN. :x

Leonardo_Warrior_Turtle 04-10-2004 08:25 AM

After last week's worst episode, we got a pretty average one here. Being a Casey filler episode (the first since 'Angel' I might add) it was nice to see him going after something he belived in. I liked how we again saw the Turtles without their bandanas, and we got to see their pupils. I hope they do that more often! The action wasn't great but hey, it's SO much better than last week's debacle. ewwwww. Anyway, I can't wait for next week's Rogue in the House Part I. I just hope William Hung isn't there to ruin it. Where is my pump action shotgun when I need it anyway?

Episode rating: 3 out of 5

I'll lend you mine if you want.

Orochi Chimera 04-10-2004 08:35 AM

This episode was a lot better than I thought it would be. It's just very disturbing with William Hung. And it made me sick when they had the turtles basicly support him.

Especially when he was singing 'Rocketman' and we see Mikey in that space ship flying away. I wonder if Eastman and Laird are throwing up right about now to that.

Taloniss 04-10-2004 08:44 AM

I thought the dialogue was a little cheesy in this episode. Like: (paraphrased, but close enough) "Looks like some varmits don't want to give up their box seats." I cringed at that one.

Mikey's obsession with pie, and moving mouth mask were both funny. Good stuff there. As was posing as housekeeping and sliding around the back of the truck trying to protect the puck. Mikey's carrying these filler episodes with his antics.

Action was really good this week, nice to see that the animators can keep coming up with new stuff. I loved Leo putting his swords in the ice and springing up to kick the goons, same with Raph doing a 360 spin by jamming his sais down. I wonder if they study old martial arts movies, or if they have a consultant, or if they just make up stuff as they go along.

One thing I didn't get, maybe I missed it; if the guy was so rich that he could afford to hire goons to steal the puck, pay extra, and not complain, why did he need the puck to get a team? He could have afforded to just buy a team or make his own.

Overall, an average episode, but alot better then last weeks.

Hung is really annoying. It's funny that he can't get on any network but Fox. I wonder how long before he fades into obscurity and is forgotten.

Anyone else think of Tommy Boy at that part?? :)

rayfillet101 04-10-2004 08:55 AM

When I saw the preview of Raph in a hokey mask I at first thought Sid? But I was a little dissapointed. I liked the housekeeping line, seeing how me and my friend always do that when we go to hotel! But when did it start to snow in New York? Was it even winter? They were just at Cooney Island and swimming in the harbor!

Hopefully very soon. I can't believe that anyone would buy his crap.

Nturtle 04-10-2004 09:08 AM

Hey, this episode was a lot better than I expected!! It had some really funny moments, namely with the pie! The action was much better than the last episode, this was probably in fact one of the better fillers so far.

The Texas Yahoos weren't all that bad villans except for the laser guns and of course the corney end scene with the turtles and the hockey sticks.

Jo Dawn 04-10-2004 09:46 AM

I just watched a part of this again, and noticed something I didn't the first time through...

"Donnie-Bear"?? Hehe... cute. :)

Orochi Chimera 04-10-2004 09:57 AM

The first part of this episode remided me of that movie The Warriors. In the movie there are gangs with different themes. When I saw the turtles in hockey masks and the hi-tech cowboys(as well as the surroundings), that's the first thing I thought of for some reason.
