We just got served by Nintendo
I think NIntendo just proved their point about the visuals in gaming.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Wii's at E3 were FAKES. The consoles sitting on the demo platforms were shells. Let me state this for the record..... ALL GAMES YOU SAW AT E3 WERE RUNNING ON GAMECUBE HARDWARE WITH THE WII CONTROLLER HARDWIRED TO THEM FOR DEMO PURPOSES. The final kits aren't even out yet, and won't be sent out until late June. You know what this means? We all though tat was next-gen software, and it was running on Gamecube in 16:9 Progressive Scan the whole time. We have not seen the real visual power of the console at this time, and all assumption of the visual prowess is worthless at this point. Yes, Nintendo just proved their point. Who gives a fu*k about graphics? WE WERE ALL PLAYING GAMECUBES!!!1!!1111!! Best goddamn news of the show. Don't believe me? Here's the underside of the demo units... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ftwareatE3.jpg and again, right under our noses... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...esentation.jpg So anybody b*tching about the graphics, stop. You've been looking at Gamecubes. And to anybody who thinks those were some georgious visuals at the show (like myself), you were looking at Gamecube's rigged to Wii controllers. The little purple box that could :D We ain't seen nothing yet folks :D :D I think Nintendo just proved their point about visuals after that stunt. |
Yeah, I heard about this earlier today. I guess Smash Bros was the real deal though since it looked so much better than everything else (except Zelda). If all Wii games will look like that I'm more than satisfied.
|
Um, wow. Nintendo is amazing. That's really awesome.
And yeah, I agree with Barkworm on this. I think SSB:B was the real Wii deal. |
I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that they used Wii hardware stored in 'Cube cases, as they are more roomy and they did not have production units yet. I doubt Super Mario Galaxy could run on a regular Gamecube.

-=wags finger=- Oh that Nintendo! What a trickster! =D
|
Who'da thunk they could trick us like this? Well, this is something you don't see too often. I just hope they're able to explain themselves one of these days if their scheme gets revealed to more people.
|
That's pretty damn cool.

My name is Benvenuto... and I just got Punk'd.

I do think I can live with everything look like Smash Bros.
Yeah... yeah, I think that'll work damn fine. |
Explains why some old games look better then newer ones. Hell I've seen Playstation games that could almost pass off as PS2 games. ZOE 2 and The Bouncer are some of the best looking PS2 games*Looking better then alot of the new ones* So I guess this proves that the true power of our systems hasn't even been tapped.
|
Nope, which is why jumping into a new, expensive, generation is just damn silly.
Oh well. |
It appears that Smash Bros was running on further along kits, but not the final ones. They don't have the final GPU's from ATI yet. Keep in mind, Nintendo spent just as much on these GPU's as Microsoft spent on their's. The final machine
It's also been confirmed that the modded Gamecubes we were playing at E3 were unmodified. If you'll notice, everything but Sonic, Mario, and Metroid Prime 3 were running at 30FPS rather than 60. This seemed off considering this was supposed to be next-gen, but now it makes sense. Games like Necro-Nesia (which was sh*t btw) looked like late-gen N64 in widescreen. Again, the Gamecubes were unmodded outside of the hardwired controller. Gamecube could already do 480p and widescreen in it's sleep. Ladies and gentlemen, we're been pwned. Gameplay is what matters. Graphics are a tool to deliver the gameplay. I think that's been proven. Expect better looking games by TGS. |

The machine isn't finished. That's more than next-gen enough for me. |
Yea, that does look pretty sweet...
I think regardless of what was actually running at E3, we can expect cleaner graphics come Nov..but you're right- gameplay hands down is THE most important aspect... |

Look again, there's tons of detials and highlights on his shoes.
And they've always been brown blobs anyway. |
How realistic can Mario get, really?
But seriously though, forget Gamecube or Wii. If you want the most realistic version of Mario ever presented, you won't find it in no video game. Enter: Super Mario Bros. The Movie. |
 Un-called for! I don't believe there was a need to bring such a travesty up.
What upsets me about the movie is that the premise was good. They came up with a legit way to get Mario and Luigi into the Mushroom Kingdom. It just totally sucked at that point! I understand they couldn't have turtles and mushroom people running around everywhere, but why did they make them a bunch of gang-banging biker punks? Sad. The one cool thing about that movie...the bob-omb scene. "LOOK OUT! HE'S GOT A BOB-OMB!" And Yoshi totally chewing the legs off that lady. Hardcore. |
