Anyone else find this disturbing?
 

Here's an unsettling thought... Somewhere, right now, someone is getting paid scads of money rifelling through stock photos of Morbidly obese (400 Lbs+) women and thinking up sick jokes implying said fat women will have sex with the card's recipient for torture. All for a gag greeting card.

Example #1: A huge women, riding a bike, humming.... caption inside: "For your Birthday, I've decided to get you one of those Giant Hummers you were talking about!"

Example #2: 2 Huge Women at a golf course... Caption inside: "For your birthday, I've decided to get you a couple of Big Berthas!" (pretty much the same joke.

Example #3: 4 Huge Women sitting down on a bench.... caption inside: "These girls want to party with you on your Birthday!" (reissued for no apparent reason for Halloween, Birthday party is replaced with Haloween party.)

Now, a jokes a joke, these are mildly amusing at best... but I find it just more disturbing than funny,,, not of course for making fun of fat people (and I'm in horrid shape myself) but the fact someone gets a living making crap like that. And that people buy them.

I find it more disturbing that you took the time to make a post about this. I can guess you put some research into it as well? AMIRITE!? LOL!??!?!!!!

Only the girls, who will become those women. The boys who will be male whales (also known as mhales from now on, thus I command) won't have a problem.

Personally, I think all of those jokes were uninspired. But, the idea of someone getting paid to come up with them is not so much that their creativity or integrity is respected, but that they have the guts to do something so lame for cheap laughs. Think of it this way. Perhaps those pictures were of the authors of the cards. If not, karma (the turtleoid) already plans to make them morbidly obese women in their next life. :evilgrin:

Nahh... you see, me and a friend were talking about this the other day when were were at Target looking at Cards. He planned on getting a card for some relative of his, and we just kept finding either semi-comical political ones, ones with Napoleon Dynamite on them, and the Fat gal ones... and of course, I forgot the "Guess that beer" gag. I suggested a Cookie Monster one, but it said "Congradulations on turning 5" or something.

Not to mention that every time I go to a store that sells Non-Halmark cards they have at least 5 of them, looking all iky over there.

Yeah... I mean, the joke isn't even funny, and they feel, "If they like it once, they'll love it twice." I mean, if you want to make a fat joke, be original. Being in bad shape, the one thing that bothers me about the fat jokes is they aren't even clever. I mean, I LAUGHED at Fat Bastard (I'm definately not that big, BTW... George costanza type build), but because they at least were clever about it... plus I love the stereotype of the angry, disgusting old Scottsman. But "OOh! Look at dem fat women! They wanna have sex with you..heh hoo heh hoo hah!" We get it... we get it.

Though I suppose fettish fans would like these. That's what my friend said.

Not as such. They all look 1950's. Add to the fact they're in black and white. I guess some weird people used them for adverts or gag post cards back then. I guess that's when stupid humor was all the rage.

Yes, because the Hummer was already used by the US-Military in the 50s. Besides, no camera is able to make b/w-pictures anymore.

I meant that the fat women photos are from the 1950s... not the cards. Sort of like stock footage of film. It's uncopywrited, it's up for grabs.

And yeah... I'm gonna use the quotes more often. I'm giving up the >> <<< thing because someone else told me my posts look messy on another site. Sorry bout that.

Anyways, They had to pay those women...if they want to be exploited in that way, it is their choice. *sigh* no one wants to pay perfectly normal average body weight girls to do anything :lol:

The reason for me posting isn't that I'm offended by fat jokes, but rather the fact someone actually makes a living doing this. Sorting through stock gag photos from the 50's and coming up with identical, yet differently worded jokes.
