J.R. Ventimilia is now Jennifer Ventimilia

J.R Venitmilia was co writer with Joshua Sternin of season 1 of Nick's Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles had recently underwent gender reassignment.

Woah, that is pretty cool. I had no idea that he was going through the process of being transgender. Just wow.

I wonder why so many people are doing this late in their life. Aren't these fully grown adults? I thought most people do this when they're young in their 20's not when they've already lived a full adult life as a gender. Either way hope she's doing well.

And here I thought it was the tired excuse of "Boys won't read/watch something written by a woman"

I doubt the surgery is cheap.

I really don't care about this and IMO people shouldn't make a big deal out of it.

This is pretty old news.

I greatly miss them both on the show. A lot of the authentic Japanese stuff in season one came from her being an avid student of ninjitsu.

My guesses: cost, maybe not an easy decision to go for it, and perhaps such surgery is just better and more widely available now than when a person was much younger. (Though I haven't a clue how old this individual is.)

People transition when they feel ready, safe, and supported enough to do so. Sometimes that's when they're children, sometimes it's when they're well into adulthood.

It doesn't always involve surgery or hormone therapy.

Congrats and welcome Jennifer!
