Apropos of absolutely nothing, I'm going to share a recent-ish PC fail on my part - I was talking to a new neighbour who is legally blind. I'm a socially awkward creature at the best of times, and as I was trying to wrap the conversation up so I could scurry back inside and resume my favourite pastime (namely, not having to talk to people), instead of saying "goodbye" to her, I said "see you later". I then spent the rest of the night kicking myself over it.

Which, I suppose, just goes to show that no matter how much time you spend reading Tumblr posts, there are times when you will always put your foot in it no matter what. And that no matter how much of a good game you talk online about trying to use correct language so as not to hurt anyone's feelings, you're probably still going to be no better than anyone else in casual conversation! Ah well, at least I can lulz about it...

Oh, you mean this guy that was mentioned about 4 or so times during the discussion? It's 4 pages, it's not that hard to go back and read Enscripture.

There is no fat shaming with him either. He was most likely fat because he stayed inside all day all the time and played board games.

He was never treated badly and never because he was fat (or an amputee for that matter) The turtles thought he was bad, because well...they didn't know he was playing. When they figured it out, their attitude completely changed towards him. He was never bad. In fact, I think he was probably one of the most sweetest human turned mutant so far.

He's also not a loser. Just because his pass time is different than yours. Which honestly is about the same level of nerdiness considering you're on a TMNT forum.

And why the hell are you dragging Murakami into this? He runs a freakin' noodle shop, and I wouldn't call him overly obese at all. He's also blind and yet that doesn't make him less of a fighter when he has to defend his shop or less of a friend to the Turtles. He's one of my favorite characters and I would hardly call him lazy or even obnoxious.

Penny, saying "See you later" to a blind person really isn't offensive depending on how they take it. I say it to my BF all the time after we see each other, and he doesn't care. He's not offended by it because he knows what I mean by it.
