To be honest Im not too fond of the tokka-esque design, it leaves out the chance of tokka appearing.

Anyone else having trouble caring about the Savate ninjas? They've pretty much been nothing but lame so far.

Only thing I'm really digging about them is the chance that they bring in the IDW version of Mr. Touch and Mr. Go.

Yeah I haven't cared for them at all, personally. I think the savate ninja had a cool design, but that's about the extent of my interest.

I don't really have an opinion on them because we have only seen them appear twice and only know so much about them as its a nw character set no seen in TMNT before. If given more panel time I could develop an opinion on them. Its just two and too few appearances to really judge at this point so I am nuetral on them.

I don't know why people feel the need to over stylize them. It works fine for a pin up but not a whole book. I'll give the series till the end of this arc to impress me and then it's getting dropped. I've been pretty patient with it so far and it hasn't done anything for me.
Sad to hear you might drop the book. The longer it goes, the more I like it and am preferring it to the Mirage run (hard to believe).

Santolouco's take on Slash! That's gonna be awesome.

I hope they regroup and come back stronger than ever. I would like them to return with a Kingpin-type character who could single-handedly manhandle the turtles.

My only complaint is that Santolouco will inevitably leave us. The details on the turtles shells, the way he includes pouches on their belts, Casey's hockey mask looking like a real hockey mask and things like the sleeve on Dons back for holding his bo-staff are details that will be missed. I also love the masks, in most panels the stylized features are subtle enough to still look like the tmnt.

True, true and true. I love the level of detail he includes in his work! I wonder if he takes longer to finish up his work than the other artists.

Btw new covers are out:

Daaaaaamn, dat Splinter cover. I don't mean to disrespect the Mirage guys, it's blasphemy to, but nobody draws Splinter like these new IDW dudes. He always used to look like a dog, now these new guys are killin' it, and he's totally a rat.

I'm gonna have to get A and B covers for this arch. These are all too awesome to say no to.

I'm really, really looking forward to this story. It's not 'City at war', but a nice homage/story in the same vein that could give up some nice, gritty ninja action!

That being said, I really, really hope this is the point we get back to Rocksteady and Bebop. That plot thread has been dangling for a really long time now, and I'd like to see a follow up soon (at least show them in the background with the foot clan or something.)

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

I can see this being considered IDW's most popular story arc for years to come. Between the, "Secret history of the Foot Clan" mini, the Krang war arc, and this, IDW really is hitting their stride.

The series has moved passed the "growing pains" of Year One and is now getting really good.

I agree. I liked his appearence in the April micro better. However, I had assumed that it was just artist interpretation in the ongoing series.

Well we get to see Hun, that's one cool thing. We get to see modern Kitsune, that's another. We'll get a taste of just how threatening Shredder based on his actions and not just splinter saying so, we get a new mystery opponent(in the prelude) and several new mutants, likely bebop and rocksteady. In one of the ninja notes they said "we'll see those two again" referring to bopsteady. If It's not here, I don't know when. I think after this arch the story ll start moving faster and get more intense. I'm stoked.

Okay I predict that Leo turning is a result of magic/ foot mind control which will probably be Kitsune's power (The fox witch from Secret History)

I have a feeling that the secondary character fighting for their life will be from the hands of Old Hob and Slash.

I'm just using spoiler tags to be safe but

Spoiler:
My guess is secret history of the foot clan will end with Shredder getting that book thing and then somehow use it to get in touch with Kitsune in order to turn Leo, if you didn't notice on the A cover she's holding Leos mask

I just came across this randomly, and found it interesting (though perhaps it's just interesting to me to hear what was going on with Mateus when I first contacted him!)
