Considering Casey is legally an adult in the Nick version, unless NYC changed age of consent I'm not aware of, the writers wouldn't be in a hurry for him to date a minor.
So I'm not really expecting a huge romance drama. Maybe this could be a huge plot point to a Spanish telenovela, but not to a cartoon. TBH, while I do ship April/Don and admit it probably won't get anywhere, I'll appreciate if April's love life is not what drives her character arc. I'm not against April/Casey btw. They were just... there. I also don't understand why the fans seem to cringe with the Turtles finding love. I mean... didn't Leo end up with a human (granted, she's a superhero and got fridged later down the road, but still)?

Some also see the TMNT as just an action/adventure franchise that neednt bother with such tropes and that the Turtles are all about their teachings and ethics than about mushy crushes. |

You should add a "Meh" or a "Neutral" option in the poll.

Now, in regards to the situation with Donnie and April, I didn't mind it so much at first, but Donnie has just gotten a bit too obsessed as the show has gone on. Had it been more subtle, I wouldn't have cared if Donnie/April had actually happened, but now I can't help but hope that maybe Casey's introduction will be the start of not only Donnie getting over his crush but April actually interacting with more characters.

It only happened in 4kids since it happened off-panel in Mirage (between Vol. 2 and 3). If it was a casual relationship, fine, but a younger April in a culture where people get married at a later age (especially in a place like NYC where its uncommon to marry under 25), April/Casey both look to just be nice friends. But if April x Casey happens, I just hope its a dynamic relationship that is a key component in the Turtles' adventures.

My problem with romance especially in Western media and especially when we already have 20 min episodes where we are trying to squeeze in way too much plot that it already seems rushed it that when characters start falling in love for some reason it seems like the romance then takes over the ENTIRE freaking plot of the story and that nothing else matters. It's what irks me the most about media in the USA as we seem to be one of the worst offenders in it within the concepts of our writing.
Don't get me wrong I will love a good romantic story and ship at times as much as the next female out there. But I usually start a show because I know it has romantic elements and I am looking forward to seeing that development. I would mind romance if I didn't feel like it would then take over everything else. Even Donnie with April in this cartoon, his crush on her has been more then 75% of his character and his development in this series. People keep complaining we don't see enough of Don interacting with his other brothers well when they need to fit in some kind of Don with April or Don obsessing over April scene into each 22 min episode it's hard to also fit in a Don with brother scene. I don't want romance because I don't want it taking over the plot of the show. That was part of the reason I liked the way they handled April and Casey in 4Kids. You knew how much the two of them meant to one other, but it never over shadowed the guys and the insanity they are often dealing with. I feel like the last few weeks the show has been more about Don and April or Leo and Karai and less about well, anything else the Turtles have been doing. It's not that I want the guys alone but I want to see something developed that it doesn't have to completely change the background and spirit of the franchise and show just so they can have girlfriends. Turtles has always been first and foremost about the brotherhood between the characters if we have to loose that so we can have luv then no I am not interested.

I definitely agree with you on that FearlessLeader.
If the action/adventure and family themes starting taking a backseat to the romance aspects, then it will lose a tremendous amount of viewers because romance is NOT what viewers tune into when watching or reading TMNT. Quote:

I agree with FearlessLeader
I like Don's character more when it isn't surrounded by his crush on April and I like April's character more when it isn't surrounded by Don's crush I need a breather from the crush thing to even begin appreciating it.

But I think April is younger in this show. Then Casey should be younger too. So I don't think that's going to happen.,
Something like this: :p
