TMNT #25 Preview/Discussion

I agree with Plasticplayhouse, but he didn't even had to grow muscles, IDW Hun is not really a brutal giant like he was in 4kids (well at least judging from the covers), and Casey's father was always a huge muscular man.

...and seriously, it's pretty easy to come up with a backstory for that. I think they will go with him being a gang leader/hitman type of thug (of the Purple Dragons) in the past, then Casey's mother came, and he left his criminal life for her. Then the rest is already explained, Dad became a drinker, after Mom died, and his agressive side resurfaced again, shown as him beating up Casey.
In Casey's micro, his mom called his father as "the weak one", and described him as a person that someone should look after, this might also be a nod to his mobster past.

Well, sorry if I repeat myself, but it's all just kinda fits together for me, after I saw that page. If it's really true, I'm happy with it, cuz it's an awesome new take on Hun then.

And the tattoo argument is insane. Most gang members have matching tattoos.

Some people with non-matching tattoos.

Well, they're actually Yakooza.
I'd say matching tattoos are an existing thing, but I don't think it's a criteria in every gang. 4kids Purple Dragons also don't have matching tattoos.

I for one think that Casey's dad IS Hun.
This IDW comic has changed EVERYBODY'S backstory, why not Hun's?
This would make the PD's rivalry much more personal and make a Vader/Luke kind of relationship with Casey.

Also the timing.
That frame was very specific and detailed about the tattoo and we do know that the next micro is Hun's. Maybe the micro is all about the "fall to the dark side" of Casey's dad and transformation to Hun. Maybe the micro's story spreads over the course of a year. We don't know.

I personally would love the twist.

Yep, in this series having Casey's dad be Hun feels more fluid than just introducing him out of the blue. I'm on board.

I think he was called Arnie in Casey micro, so it's still Arnold. In Mirage Casey was Arnold Bernid Jones Jr. and his father was Arnold Bernid Jones Sr. I'm guessing it's still the same.
If he is Hun, it's his "street name".

He cannot be Hun because the bodytypes are completely different. The face is different, the hair is different.

We just damn saw Casey's father in the previous issue hanging out the hospital door, nothing changes!

Alot of the Micro could be told in flashback, which would explain the muscles and hair. I guess that would make Hun a slob with a gut for the present arc, which might be weird. You're right about the face, but the eyes seem similar, and it's a different artist. I see your point, and now that I'm trying to explain it, it does seem to me like a stretch.....but I think there's a decent chance that he's Hun.

Considering that angels dad is a black guy with a strong moral code...no. Uncle, I could see, old friend makes the most sense. I imagine something like all the original dragons have that tat. Brooklyn probably does too. Huns real name should be Hunter Mason, like in mirage.

To be honest, he has indeed a different built in City Fall pt1, with a giant belly, but he is drawn differently on later parts of City Fall.
He also has no belly at all in ongoing #1 and #2. Seems like he changes between artists too.

Man I friggin love this arc. I have to admit that I am not 100% into the way the turtles look (the big foreheads just don't quite do it for me), but all the human characters and other mutants look absolutely stunning! The plot is moving along very nicely, and the tension between Karai and Leo(man he's a dick when he's evil ) really helps us understand Karai's motivation. And like ive said in previous issue discussions, the pages have a great balance to them. I loved the scene where Leo gets a vision of Yoshi and Shen when he looks at Shredder and Kitsune. That type of good/evil reflection within the panels just drives me crazy in a good way, you can tell a lot of thought went into the layout of each page.

Now for the whole Hun thing... here's my two cents: I don't believe Casey's dad is Hun. I don't really think they look similar enough. Plus even though the Dad is a big, muscular dude, he just had his "NO MORE!" breaking point moment in this last issue. That's not enough time to get back into the kind of shape that Hun is pictured having. Also I cant see any noticeable scars on his arms like the Hun cover.

That being said, I think Casey's dad IS going to rejoin the Purple Dragons. Think about it, His son (who he has abused and mistreated for years) has just had a brush with death and he is riddled with guilt. Whats the quickest/ most familiar form of action an ex-gang member can take to rectify the situation? Well he doesn't want to confront Casey because of his guilt plus the fact that Angel pretty much voiced what he feels inside. So the answer is Street Justice. He will turn to Hun (Angel's father or not) and the Purple Dragons and seek vengeance against the Foot for what they did to his son, even if it means his own death.

Of course I'm just speculating, but it seems to me that this is the most likely scenario and Id love to see it happen.

It's not even up for debate whether Hun is angels dad. Read the annual, her dad is already in the comic unless he completely changes his whole personality and turns white he's not gonna be Hun.
