I fixed it actually. I just don't expect The Expendables 3 to make a whole lot compared to what else is in theaters.

The Giver is only a limited release I think and not many people I know have read the book it's based on so that might do well enough to get 3rd place. Let's Be Cops just won't be able to compete with all the other big releases so that will land it in at least 4th place while The Expendables 3 will probably disappoint ending up in 5th place.

THE GIVER will open in an estimated 2,800 theaters next week. #TheGiver

BoxOffice @BoxOffice · Aug 7
Lionsgate will distribute THE EXPENDABLES 3 in an estimated 3,000 locations on August 15. #TheExpendables3

Didn't mention how many locations Lets Be Cops has

Yeah, those two were the ones I was thinking, Expendables and The Giver looks like it may pull good interest, but if it's limited then that helps.

Come on TMNT, defend your turf, you can do it. lol

I'm guessing positive word of mouth may allow Guardians to sneak back in front of TMNT after the predictable 2nd weekend dip.

Overall, domestically, it should get to at least 135-140 million. You've got the Labour Day weekend in America, so that will help. Overseas, I will be very surprised if it doesn't make at least 250 million. 300 million is not impossible (some would say it’s actually quite likely). All in all Paramount will be quite pleased. They've got another franchise, which is something all studios want. It will never be a Transformers-size franchise (in terms of box-office gross), but it will be strong nonetheless.

Maybe. It depends, actually. If TMNT drops the same 63% as Transformers 4 did in its second weekend, it'd be at $24m for next weekend. If Guardians of the Galaxy drops the same 38% that Captain America: The Winter Soldier did between weekend 2 and weekend 3, it'd be at... $24m for next weekend.

All wild speculation here, mind you. But that'd be interesting.

Guardians might get first place back but I slightly doubt it. TMNT will still be going strong nonetheless. I just don't think that any of the movies releasing this week will dethrone TMNT.

Hard to say. After its huge first weekend, not many people expected TMNT to dethrone Guardians... until it did. This August has been a bit surprising all around for the box office.

Regardless of who's on top and as long as neither drops significantly more or less than the usual this year, we could see the two nearly in a dead heat next weekend.

100% agree dude. TMNT is huge overseas as well. It's a global franchise. Not worried about all these doom and gloom posts lol. This movie, at the end of the day will make plenty of money and that sequel will begin production early next year. And then we can listen for the little updates leak out month after month. Any movie can be compared to other more successful films and be seen as " less successful". It's a weak attempt to take away what this movie has accomplished so far. So.. who cares lol.

I hope Let's Be Cops is number one. The tickets the Wayans family alone will buy should be enough for that.

Interesting... TMNT and GotG's numbers are already getting really tight. Wonder what this weekend will look like.

Even though it doesn't hit our cinemas until October, the box office success on the opening weekend made the British news. Vicky and any other UK bods, there was a feature about its success on BBC3's Entertainment News on Sunday night.

Really! that's pretty cool. I don't watch BBC 3 that much, if i'm flippin channels and Family Guy is on, then I'll watch it.

Possible. TMNT has had one of the worst Monday drops of the year. Insiders are expecting a 60+% drop next weekend.
