Even the packaging is cooler. I wonder how they were able to step it up so much, does Paramount or Viacom give Playmates extra dough for this sort of tie-in?

Agreed. Everything from the package art to the painted wheels on Mikey's skateboard is a step up from the first range.

Anticipating my second set of movie figures today, so as a heads up, here's the completed Drome sans figures.

The fridge is too small an area to display this open, so it is back up there in a closed state 👍

The Technodrome is still a big set for this toy line, most toylines wouldn't release anything this big nowadays unless it was for micro figures and there is still a sewer set coming in this movie line complete to look like the 90's sewer lair crossed with the current movies.

DVD, are you getting the newish movie sewer as well?

I don't want to buy the new layer set, as I have the original.
I got that before I knew a guy who knew guy, so I paid full price from the US and shipping costs doubled that, making it near $300 to own it.

That said, Im a sucker for complete collections. IF the new set has cool movie graphics on the packaging, I might get it - at least I won't be spending $$$ on shipping.

I completed the Technidrome tonight. Fitting the final section in was a pain and I thought it wouldn't connect ... Of course, it did in the end. I think it has great visual presence, and I'm sure, loaded with the movie figures, will look awesome.
It's still, I have to say, quite flimsy. Opening it up, you feel like it'll fall apart.
I think I will just keep it displayed on top of the beer fridge 😄
Must be the same plastic used on the Fugitoid Ship! Thanks for the pics, DVD. The drome looks cool though!

$300 on the original?! Yikes!

It's interesting in today's age that since 2012 until the end of 2016 a TMNT generation will have had a choice in 3 sewer playset repaints, a mini pizza place playset, and a mutating Leonardo Sewer Lair Playset.

It would be cool if there was a Mutating Shredder Playset, in order to give us a badguy playset.

And, I will be getting the movie play set

I'm glad I didn't grab that loud colored lair repaint. The movie one actually has a useful subway entrance. I've been waiting on a nice subway display since I started collecting figures. They're always in the subway, why has there been no subway playset?

DVD, can you post a few angles of Krang outside the android suit?

Man, that Shredder looks terrible. Still, these are pretty cool!

pretty sad... the remake of the super-star play-set of the 90s THE TECHNODROME look so cheap.... It seems that creativity for playmates toys is in the past... the details of the "new Technodrome"....are very poor, hoses, hoses and more hoses... where is the quality control???? this new playset only looks great if you displayed in his box (like the 70% percent of his nick like)....they are trying to save production costs... which could lead to ruin

Great shots! At first, I was wondering why Casey's feet were so huge...then I realized that he had skates on from the other pics

You're really making me want every figure from the new movie along with the Technodrome, DVD! haha I was only planning to get Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady to begin with. Now I am thinking that I may need all of them.
