So don't see the new movie then if you don't trust me. Opinions change over time. At the time, yes, I was excited to see a new turtles film and I accepted it because I just assumed they were going for something different and that it wasn't meant for my generation. After repeated viewings and discussions, I grew to dislike it more and more. I still think it's better than Ninja Turtles 3 or maybe even the 2007 one. I just watched SOTO again the other day for the first time in like ten years so I would probably rank that one higher.

So when does the review embargo get lifted? Cause I can't wait to see these critics tear this thing apart.

Probably like a day before the movie comes out.

I didn't mean to start a pile on one user here. Seth's opinion is accurate to how he feels now and it's good he enjoyed it. That being said I think the Reddit user's opinion will sync up better with what most fans and critics will view this based on the trailers.

April and Casey are in the movie throughout, but it's not like the last movie where there are big long scenes with just April (with the entire first 20 minutes devoted to her.) the guy I met did tell me he hated Megan Fox so maybe for him it felt like she was in the movie too much. April spends a majority of the third act running around with Vernon trying to stop Karai while Casey fights Bebop and Rocksteady. So yes they are in the movie, but most of their scenes feature the turtles or villains. They don't have a lot of scenes where it's only the two of them.
A few More Questions;

-Does Baxter already know shredder? Because he was there with Sachs and April's dad working on 'Project: Renaissance"

-Was that shredder being broken out of the Prison Truck at the beginning of the movie?

-Were there any unmentioned Easter eggs for fans you saw?

-And what happens to Rocksteady and bebop? What are their final fates??

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

Baxter and Shredder are working together when the film begins.

Yes. Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady are in that truck.

There are some, but I'm not going to reveal them here. The scene where they go over the waterfall ends with something cool.

Is there some sort of friendly relationship between Raph and Casey in the end?

Every ninja turtles movie ever released even the first was slammed by critics. Also, this guy never slammed the movie. He said he didn't feel it was very good but there was a lot of fanboy service and those parts were awesome. I don't know exactly which parts he's referring to.

Also, I don't know how anything I've said has turned into ultimate praise for the movie. If you go back and read everything I posted, I not once said that the movie was brilliant, amazing, a masterpiece, or anything like that. I said I was impressed. And that's true. I went in neutral and was expecting something closer to what we got last time, and it impressed me that it seems they put a little more thought and care into this one. I defy anyone to say that this movie isn't better than the last.

In fact, I never really gave a solid opinion on it. I said I'm still processing it. But when it comes to these movies, this forum always seems to be so polarizing. People want to find the one other guy online talking about this movie, pull old posts I made about the 2014 movie, and pull a "see we told you so!" nonsense on me. I just went to see the movie and wanted to share what I saw. I enjoyed watching the movie. Maybe after I see it again I'll enjoy it less, maybe I'll enjoy it more. I don't know. Maybe I went into this movie expecting less and got more and maybe that guy went in expecting more and got less. Maybe the scenes of April and Casey didn't bother me as much as it bothered him. Maybe I felt the movie was more serious than the 80s cartoon and maybe he thought the opposite. It's a movie. You get what you get and people are going to see it differently.

Not like the 2007 movie. They bump heads a bit when they first meet, but not like in the 1990 movie. Raph spends a lot of time with Mikey in this movie.

Indeed, people who hate it will hate it blindly no matter what, and people who love it will love it blindly no matter what. And both sides will think the other insane, stupid, or paid off for not seeing how OBVIOUSLY wrong they are. Me, I'm indifferent towards both films. Worth one watch at the dollar theater, no more.

thanks for the info, by the way. I don't get why people just can't see this movie as an unconnected entity, and in their minds just start Shredder already at war with the tmnt. Put your own origin and first battle with shredder in there your own way, and enjoy the movie as Shredder's revenge.

You could, actually. They only reference the turtles beating the Shredder. They never mention Sacks or the origin from the 2014 movie. It's even a different ooze. This ooze is from Dimension X and hand delivered by Krang to the Shredder. I think people can watch this movie without seeing the 2014 film.

Without revealing the ending, does the ending leave it open for a 3rd film?

It was Tigerclaw who found and posted the link to that guy's AMA before he'd answered any questions presumably thinking he was going to express similar sentiments to you. Rather conveniently he's posted links and quotes of your initial write up elsewhere as "proof" of how great the movie is so I don't think a difference of opinion here just here is bad thing or a "we told you so" kinda deal. Your opinion should be respected and I didn't mean to cause what looked to be developing as a pile on to "prove you wrong".

To me the whole "critics have never liked TMNT" is a flawed argument. Yeah RT scores but they are unreliable about movies that came out way before the internet age, sure it was panned at the time like many films of it's type but some critics did like the 1990 movie - heck even Roger Ebert who trashed the movie and the franchise in his TV review was much kinder in his written review even though you could tell it pained him to do so. I should also point out opinion on it the Steve Barron movie has increased over time.

A big difference now is we're are living in the comic book movie age. Concepts like TMNT have proven their worth to cinema and critics not to mention that a lot of critics are of the age that will remember TMNT fondly. It's no longer a question of whether they "get it" or not. The fact that a lot of reviewers of the 2014 movie started their reviews saying they grew up with the franchise yet still trashed it anyway speaks volumes.

Because it's a sequel. Largely the same cast and crew continuing the same themes. Few sequels ever do anything more than loosely acknowledge what came before but it's viewed as important. If they wanted this to viewed was a separate entity then they would have made more an effort to differentiate it from the previous movie. As it stands it doesn't even look like they've fixed the major complaints from the 2014 movie.

Based on the trailers that statistically have a much higher positive reaction?

Oh, one other question, is krang in other parts of the movie besides where he pops up at the end?

Please ease my curiosity:
Spoiler:
Is Shredder a Robot that Krang repurposes for a new body? Is it kind of Utrom Shredder? (sorry about those Caps earlier! Yeash!)

How low can standards get that we're rewarding studios and filmmakers with money for piss poor attempts at a movie and then patting them on the back for saying "yeah the first one sucked but here's a mediocre second attempt that only kinda sorta fixes SOME problems from the first one!"
