I'd also point out while I'm sure we all respect Seth's opinion likewise the forum member who saw the early screening of the previous movie had a similar positive reaction and defended a lot of the questionable elements with things "I know it sounds bad but trust me the whole learning from a book thing actually works when you see the movie".

She does in fact fight in the movie



He was good. He's not in the movie as much as you would expect. He doesn't have a big backstory. He becomes a vigilante because of the events that happen in the film. His story isn't nearly as big as April's or Eric Sacks in the last movie.



It is in the movie but it's brief. The ooze needs to be injected to work so it changes his hand briefly and then it goes back to normal. This, however, is a great scene. It sparks a new conflict with the turtles thats explored more deeply.

So they bickering like in the cartoon just less silly? Awesome.

Shredder is always referred to as Shredder. They never state who exactly Karai is. Krang is an Utrom from Dimension X.

Splinter's not in the movie much. Less than last time. He looks better though. There's some scenes where he has heart to heart conversations with Leo. But Leo shines more than he does in those scenes.

The former doesn't really surprise me and neither does the lack of backstory for the character but damn I thought we'd at least get Saki's actual name. What did they do get him to court and try him as 'Mr Shredder'? Not even have a henchmen call him "Master Saki" or something

I knew it. I just knew all that stuff they said about listening to fans and trying to fix problems from the first one was garbage.

They need to kick Michael Bay and the writers to the curb, reboot, and bring in some ACTUAL talent. Screw these people.

It pains me to say this but... It's not very good. I think it's an improvement over the last film but Michael Bays stink is still on this. There is a TON of fanboy service in it and those parts are awesome, especially if you're a fan of the old cartoon. But it goes too much to April and Casey again, and Megan Fox just doesn't have what it takes to pull that off.

It's always interesting how people can see the same movie and see things very differently. In all deference to Seth who has actually seen it I can't help but think this is more likely.

I don't think I'm especially unrealistic. I knew that screen time for the turtles would be improved but still be an issue because...well look how much it costs to fully motion cap the actors. Even though it's something I feel needs to be done I can appreciate trying to fit in a traditional backstory with what they've established would be tricky even for people who know the franchise well but damn this all sounds disappointing like they haven't listened to fans at all.

If you take what this guy says at face value, then either him or seth is lying about seeing it because what he is saying is very Contradicting to what seth is saying. Not about it being good but seth says Casey and April aren't in it that much while this guy says the oppisite, and that the movie is way light in tone while seth says it takes its self more serious. Either way, time will tell I guess.

Nothing about this bloody film screams serious. We got Raph hitting a plane like a freaking Looney Tune, and a realistic Tortoise winking at him.

Just for comparison's sake this was Seth's opinion of the 2014 movie:

Just got back from seeing it. I've been pretty neutral about this movie but still excited to see it.

The action scenes are excellent! The snow mountain scene is great. Also I enjoyed the martial arts. I was fine with the turtles new look. They sounded and acted just like the turtles we grew up with.

I wasn't super thrilled about the new origin and back story. However, I know that they were trying to go with a more "grounded in reality" and less complicated origin so I accept it. Definitely influenced by IDW more so than any other versions. It was a bummer to see the backstory once again told in a flashback. I would have liked to have seen it play out in real time.

Why was Splinter dressed Japanese before he found the ninja book? At first, I didn't like that Splinter taught himself ninjutsu from a book, but now that I think about it, it's not really much different from him teaching himself by mimicking Hamato Yoshi. He teaches himself either way.

Loved Shredder's voice. Hated the character. Don't get me wrong, when Shredder is in the armor he's awesome! However, Shredder unmasked is kind of lame. This is mostly because you don't really know anything about his character. He's just some Japanese guy who wants to destroy New York. Eric Sachs was a much more interesting character. I think it would have been better is he was Shredder.

The biggest problem with this movie is that it's rushed. None of the characters really get the attention they deserve. They are all just there. We learn nothing about Karai, Shredder, The Foot, etc. the movie gets really interesting when they start dipping into the backstory but it's never enough info.

That being said, I actually really enjoyed the film. I think it's the best film since the first! I would have just liked to see more.

I'm not saying the dude isn't credible just that seth has been talking about this for weeks now in advance. Don't really think he'd lie about it. He's on here all the time, why would he just make stuff up when he's gonna get called out on it in here?

Neither of us are lying. i think i might have met this guy in line because i did meet a guy who said he heard about the screening on reddit. April and Casey are in the movie throughout, but it's not like the last movie where there are big long scenes with just April (with the entire first 20 minutes devoted to her.) the guy I met did tell me he hated Megan Fox so maybe for him it felt like she was in the movie too much. April spends a majority of the third act running around with Vernon trying to stop Karai while Casey fights Bebop and Rocksteady. So yes they are in the movie, but most of their scenes feature the turtles or villains. They don't have a lot of scenes where it's only the two of them.
