I do wonder why this team has two IDW characters. I feel like you should either use Slash or Ninjara and not both. Surely there could have been a different universe to fill in that forth slot

I guess. But I feel like any differences could be addressed with the different between time the characters had as well as just the film not having a realism artstyle.

So I shared that Sophie Campbell said Ninjara will be from another universe, not really IDW universe but still on one of issues covers it was shown that Raph will fight Alopex that means Alopex and Slash will be fighters from IDW universe

Hell, with the whole Shredder manipulating the children and trying to play “father” to said children you still have the father-daughter for that universe.

Hell, the ending of TMNT where they were implying the soon resurrection of the Shredder easily connects to the Last Ronin film if they plan to make it a legacy sequel to the live action

We've been over this a million times. We know that TMNT (2007) is part of the same continuity as the original 1990s movies because they told us it was. Munroe was yelling it from the rooftops when the movie was coming out and this wasn't like some sort of debatable secret. Interviews, press releases, and more.

Where it got a little bit muddy was the idea that it might only be a sequel to the first movie and that 2 and 3 would be ignored, but then we got the movie and there's clearly stuff in there from 2 and 3.

Obviously 2007 doesn't look like the 1990s movies because it's not a live action movie and on no level were they going for realism there. Big shocker!

No, none of this has to have anything to do with a Last Ronin movie and if it decides to be a legacy sequel to the 90s movies. Nothing even particularly noteworthy happened in the 2007 movie so why would it make one iota of difference if it's part of the same chain or not for such a thing? Do you expect Michelangelo to flash back to Winters or catching the magic stone people or whatever? There's no need.

So if Last Ronin movie is legacy sequel to 90s movies it would take place after events of TMNT III movie? Events of Ninja Turtles Next Mutation series and TMNT 2007 movie wouldn't be canon? Also do you consider Ninja Turtles Next Mutation series to take place after TMNT III movie? But TMNT 2007 movie is not canon to this series

And TMNT (2007). Or we can pretend TMNT (2007) never happened. It doesn't matter. I wouldn't expect any of the SPECIFIC events in the movies to be referenced beyond -- maybe -- Shredder dying.

Come to think of it, rather than the adversary of the (VERY hypothetical) Last Ronin movie being an Oroku Saki descendant... why not literally have Oroku Saki himself come back from the dead? Making good finally on what Karai was alluded to in TMNT (2007). And then we get a big rematch with Michelangelo vs. Saki where the loser hopefully doesn't just drown in a puddle.

After TMNT III you have a "Choose Your Own Adventure." You can either go to NT:TNM or you can go to TMNT (2007) but you can't go to both. "Canon"-wise, obviously TMNT (2007) came later and that ignored NT:TNM (though there WAS a time when the fourth movie was very much going to be a NT:TNM continuation), so the most up-to-date appraisal of things would be that strictly TMNT 1, 2, 3, and TMNT (2007) are in-canon.

So both are continuations of 90s movies but are not canon to each other, what I mean is Ninja Turtles Next Mutation series and TMNT 2007 movie are not canon to each other but TMNT 2007 movie might be better continuation

Correct.

And it is the latest "word" in canon. The best way to probably look at it is that TMNT (2007) asserted itself into the TMNT 1-3 continuity while simultaneously removing NT:TNM from it.

Okay and I think Last Ronin movie will still come out and it will be first TMNT movie to be rated R

Is it possible that IDW's Ninjara was never meant to be canon and was only created for this? Like... did we ever get confirmation she was meant to be in the mainline comic, or was that an assumption?

In any case, I guess I should be happy to see Alopex in some fashion, even if it likely won't be a part of the main story.

Ninjara was briefly mentioned during the final arc of the previous run when Donnie and Venus were with Renet and Future Lita.

I will pick this up, but I find it odd they are doing an Alopex Vs. Raph and a lover's quarrel thing. On one hand, they are establishing they wanna keep her as Raph's love interest. On the otherhand, Raph fighting Alopex feels forced. If thins is because of Shredder again...

I was hoping for a Alopex Vs. Ninjara thing, but probably would draw too much attention and be kinda mean-spirited? But I like it enough to pick up a copy.

I don’t know if it’s actually 2025 in the IDWverse, but it just occurred to me that in 4kids the tournament was held every 3 years and the last one we saw was late 2004. So 2025 will be 7 tournaments after “The Big Brawl”.

Doubt that was on purpose, but still amusing.

So do you think this might be same Battle Nexus as in TMNT 2003 cartoon? Could be possible and after all trouble IDW Turtles went though in first 12 issues they to travel there or be summoned there, we will probably find out more later this month when IDW November 2025 solicitations cone out

I would imagine it’s the same one as 4kids. Seems like many things are different, but a lot can change in 21 years.

Yeah, also because Battle Nexus in TMNT 2003 cartoon and Mirage Comics is probably same and Mirage Shredder will be in this Battle Nexus so it might be save to assume that this all is same Battle Nexus

Mirage Shredder isn't black and white. That's "Turtles Forever Shredder." Maybe a pocket dimension that is just like the INTERIOR of Mirage #1, and only as originally published (and not, you know, the many colorizations of it that exist since).

Maybe you are right but do you think this and Battle Nexus from 4Kids cartoon are same?

Event books and crossovers have an uphill battle appealing to my sensibilities but I think this is a pretty great idea for the current TMNT comics. This is the type of book that can make a splash, expand the universe, and even be pretty fun if you get the right talent. I’ll at least give the first issue a chance.

I really think IDW has done a great job with the turtles and I wouldn’t mind if they hold onto the license longer. They have reprinted a healthy amount of previously hard to get material, given Eastman the room to re-energize the franchise with TLR, and even if I don’t love the ongoing series there is no denying it’s one of the most consistent books on the stand.
