Oh hey Mirage Splinter... didn't think I'd run into you here.
Seriously though what a great way to start off the episode giving us a glimpse of the not so loving Splinter, but instead the one that found himself mutated with four baby turtles and decided to dedicate their existence to the sole purpose of killing his most hated enemy Oroku Saki. It translated very well onto the screen and it was nice finally seeing that side of Splinter in one of the cartoons. Dogpound has a great design, I especially like that his bones seem to he exposed on his right hand, creepy stuff right there. Plus he's no Bebop or Rocksteady, it took a friggin' explosion to finally send him packing and I think that is how he should have explained it to Shredder, shame he's such a good dog or maybe he would have been more comfortable massaging the truth a little bit. I loved the shot of Fishface just chilling in the pool and that Xever didn't immediately get his Robot legs and Breathing apparatus, it somehow makes this world full of Mutants and Ninjas and Mutant Ninja more realistic to me. Plus having hims stuck in the pool gave us an awesome look of what Dogpound is capable of on his own. I so want the toys of the Patrol Buggies now after seieng them in action. What will definitely clench the deal for me is if they include Turtles with their respective headgear. Seriously Leo in that Baseball helmet looked awesome as did Football Raph and Hockey Don... Though where Mike found an aviator helmet kind of boggles my mind. I like that the first vehicle that we saw Donatello build was something that it would make sense for a Teenager to build as I know I for one had build a crappy little Go-Kart by the time i was fifteen, certainly feel like it will make it more logical when he builds the Shellraiser. Loved the message about not pysching yourself out but still knowing how to maintain caution. Though my favorite part of the episode was when my long held belief that Raphael actually enjoys Space Heroes was confirmed when he was able to quote it back to Leo when he needed it the most. Though like Raph I too am upset that Leo didn't slap himself... In closing how about April's student ID from Roosevelt High School... I'm sure Donnie is glad that she grew into her looks. Oh yeah and the Thermal Charge great throwback to issue numero uno |
