I remember a few of the actors talking up the whole idea that the turtles would feel alienated from the humanity and that was a major theme of the movie. Either they were blowing smoke or it all ended on the cutting room floor.

Quite frankly "relateable" could mean anything. I mean not being in shadow all the time and having more than a handful of lines makes him instantly more relateable than how the character was in the last movie.

Shredder is kind of relatable in the Nick series, Perhaps they are going that route?

The whole relationship he has with his daughter Karai, Perhaps we will see that in the sequel, since we seen set images of the two together.
