Considering the health risks and other issues linked to it, I will never understand why dental care is not treated as an equal necessity and is something that has frustrated me for years. I'm surprised other countries apparently see it no different than mine does.I feel like the people who decide this must have perfect, strong teeth, never a single filling, and think everyone is like them. Medicaid in some states in this country has had some okay-ish dental coverage for adults, but not here. My state has had it for kids for a long time, but up until recently (and still for the moat part) if you're an adult... hahahaha, no, screw you. Locally, they finally in later 2015 started offering an extremely minimal amount of dental to adults, which consists of one cleaning/exam per year and they'll cover the cost of x-rays once every two or three years, that's it. Far from great, but I guess it's something. But nothing big is covered and dental here, at least in my area, is disgustingly expensive. I don't know what the transfer rate is on that "$200-$300,", but here those numbers would be per tooth. (I think my last round of fillings, two at a time, cost about $500 each visit and my mom helped with that.) I'm not sure if it's simply the state doesn't want to, its funds not being enough, OR if it's what I've hard before that it has been the dental practices that have refused to participate. Either way, I don't understand why it won't at least cover a co-pay to help cut the cost and help someone get the care they need, esp if you're in pain and need it now. I could deal with a co-pay system. I'm not expecting this tiny bit of coverage to last long though, esp not with Trump ruling the land now. I had eye care via Medicaid once back in 2008 (it's back but I had to choose that OR dental...I need both Last edited by IndigoErth; 02-03-2017 at 09:33 PM. |
