Considering the health risks and other issues linked to it, I will never understand why dental care is not treated as an equal necessity and is something that has frustrated me for years. I'm surprised other countries apparently see it no different than mine does.

I feel like the people who decide this must have perfect, strong teeth, never a single filling, and think everyone is like them.

Medicaid in some states in this country has had some okay-ish dental coverage for adults, but not here. My state has had it for kids for a long time, but up until recently (and still for the moat part) if you're an adult... hahahaha, no, screw you.

Locally, they finally in later 2015 started offering an extremely minimal amount of dental to adults, which consists of one cleaning/exam per year and they'll cover the cost of x-rays once every two or three years, that's it. Far from great, but I guess it's something. But nothing big is covered and dental here, at least in my area, is disgustingly expensive. I don't know what the transfer rate is on that "$200-$300,", but here those numbers would be per tooth. (I think my last round of fillings, two at a time, cost about $500 each visit and my mom helped with that.)

I'm not sure if it's simply the state doesn't want to, its funds not being enough, OR if it's what I've hard before that it has been the dental practices that have refused to participate. Either way, I don't understand why it won't at least cover a co-pay to help cut the cost and help someone get the care they need, esp if you're in pain and need it now. I could deal with a co-pay system.

I'm not expecting this tiny bit of coverage to last long though, esp not with Trump ruling the land now. I had eye care via Medicaid once back in 2008 (it's back but I had to choose that OR dental...I need both ), but it was gone again after just a year or so.

Yeah. Medicare covers hubby's dialysis (200$ per treatment session) through AHCA, but if Trump gets his way.... He would be screwed.

My mom just called me. She told me that Scooter's really bad off, and that we're not winning the fight to get him better. His swelling has gotten worse, he barely walks - and when he does his gait is bad. She sent me a "final picture" and the bridge of his nose is badly swelled.

She and my dad determined that he's just not going to survive at this point. She told me that they were taking him to the vet to put him down; from his behavior, it seemed like he was trying to die on his own. He's done.

I feel a little hollow, since he's not even a full year old yet, and I'm the one that rescued him off the road last year.

So sorry to hear. Poor thing... Life is just so unfair sometimes. But you guys did what you could to give him a chance, and taking him in the way you did I'm sure he's probably always been grateful. I've never known a stray that wasn't. At least in his short life he found people who cared and won't leave him to suffer, on some road or from illness. Sending mental hugs.

It's a little harder to deal with at the moment, since I'm alone at my house in Waco and my dad's with my mom.

By now, he's good and gone. My mom told me that dad pretty much lost his composure at the vet, and that she came close to it.

Aw that's so sad. I remember we had a golden retriever once who ran off and when he came back he was in bad shape. We never knew if he was struck by a car or attacked by some wild animal.

Heartbreaking to have to lose one so young. One of ours will have (somehow) been 20 years ago in Sept, but that one can still make me tear up. In comparison it was fortunate he lived to about age 6, but still way too young and having likewise had a rough start as a stray (then turned into the most awesome cat I've ever known - heck, even non-cat people loved him) only to develop some kind of cancer they couldn't do anything about... life is just so cruel sometimes.

He was in horrible condition by the end and was basically suffering.
We hoped that he'd get better after a lymph node was removed, but he just got worse. For some reason, it bugs me that he didn't even fully heal from it, probably still having a shaved patch on his neck.

I just had a violent outburst over a silly mistake I made while ordering from Papa John's. Fortunately, I was able to call up the store and cancel the order, and get a full refund, but the hole I put in my bedroom wall is a different matter. The stress of trying to find a new job is definitely one of the things that've been driving me to act out in such ways, though loosing my sh*t this intensely can be so scary. I'm just glad my niece and nephew weren't around to witness it.

Sorry you're going thru such rough times. I know how if feels though to loose your job - sometimes you feel you can't think about anything else but finding a new job and it's rather stressful!

Catch yourself before you lose your cool and remind yourself that it isn't worth the trouble it will cause. Maybe easier said than done, but the more you allow yourself to give in to those impulses, the easier it will get to fly off the handle and you'll find yourself doing it all the time. I've seen it; I was raised by people who couldn't control their temper and it did lasting damage to everyone.

Sorry to hear that. Thankfully in my upbringing I never had to deal with anybody in my immediate family like that, though sadly my second cousins had a very toxic upbringing, especially since their father had a major drinking problem.

Yeah, trying to retrain yourself to redirect such frustration/anger, or shove it aside and put your mind on other things before it gets to that point, might be wise...

Grind... So, Nick.com, where is the newest episode?? Had hoped it would be online early, but no such luck. Instead it's late. Of course. (And hoping it even gets added!) Already sucks that we had to wait this long, through massive siege of internet spoilers and unfair that I could not see it yesterday because some of us have to work on Sundays and god forbid this show get any repeats during the week! and now I still wait... Well, I hope everyone else liked it... I'll just wait over here...

When you buy a clothing item/accessory (in this case, a hat) over the internet only to find once it arrives that it doesn't fit you. Major bummer.

So I was laid off in November and I haven't been able to find work since. I've had only about four-five phone interviews and one of them lead to a in person interview that I thought went incredibly well. It's been over a week since the interview happened and they told me the next step would be a culture/personality quiz to get to know me more. I sent a thank you e-mail the following morning last week just to be in their good graces, but the HR lady I've been speaking with hasn't sent the quiz or even a follow up e-mail. I tried to get in touch with her via e-mail yesterday just to check up on the status of the quiz and to let her know I wanted to possibly follow up. I figured that now I'll back off a bit and let them get in touch with me, but I really was pumped on the possibility of this position and it's kind of a bummer that I haven't been sent anything yet. I have another phone interview on Friday, which is nice...but I'm a little worried that looking more into the position that it's going to be something more sales driven than creative. I work in marketing and advertising and generally it's always a more sales driven approach, but my last position was more in the content creation department and I really loved what I did. Last summer I starting working as a social media specialist for them for a month and few weeks but the position was so micromanaged by the CEO and heavily under developed that it just brought horrible anxiety to me and I asked to move away from the position back to what I was doing originally.

So what grinds my gears? Well, my old company laid off 70+ people when some a major account was paused until the new year and I was on PTO when my boss's boss called me to tell me my position was terminated. Just now I see that my old company is hiring for a social media specialist position that was the one I dropped away from last summer. They laid off two other people in those rolls last year and kept a few, but holy hell is all of this incredibly shady and demoralizing. I really hope I find something I love soon.

And I just got the rejection e-mail from the place I interviewed with last week. Things aren't really working out for me.

I fell on the ice on my way to work, hit the back of my head really badly and it's been hurting since, that was 10 hours ago. most of the nausea is gone and I don't feel like I have to throw up, but the headache is still there and loud sounds are really upsetting. I was hoping for some rest when I got home, but the dog is extra whiny today due to the heavy snow outside and the wind is causing some noise he reacts to.

I have a feeling it's going to hurt for a couple of days.

Ouch! My sympathy, I pretty much have a fear of ice at this point. Hope you get it checked out if need be, if other symptoms happen or worsen, just to make sure there isn't a brain bleed or anything.

Aw that sucks, sorry to hear that. If this is the place you got two interviews with, hopefully they'll keep you on record. You never know if the one they chose might not work out.

Side note, I despise those "personality" style quizzes and hate that they are becoming more common for employers. In a extrovert biased society that really worries me that the strengths introverts can bring are going to be automatically rejected by those quizzes, and possibly never even included, and block people from even meeting a hiring manager in person to have half a chance to actually show them who they are. Pretty scary what that could lead to if that became the norm.

On Monday we got a call from the medical company who supplied the bed and Hoyer lift and said they wanted to take the bed and Hoyer from us. So Mom called the insurance company and it turns out the medical company was billing insurance way too early and so they were being denied. Thankfully it was straightened out but it was frustrating.

Yikes! You should probably see if you have a concussion.
