Why was Mikey's Nunchucks replaced in the Classic Cartoon?

I own the 4th Season of the Cartoon on DVD, I noticed that they replaced Michelangelo's Nunchucks with that Grappling Hook of sorts. Why did they replace them? Something happen to them Storywise? Or did parents complain about how dangerous they were or some crap? Sorry if this has been asked, just kind of curious, lol.
