Here to me is an interesting question regarding Mikey's inability to spell the word wrong. Do we suppose Splinter gave the boys proper schooling or do you think it was more just common sense and Ninja training. I mean maybe in some ways the rest of the guys are more proactive in educating themselves then Mikey is? Maybe no one really encouraged him to learn to spell.

Honestly still seems far fetched to me but is still an intriguing idea.

He's a turtle that has spent his entire life in a sewer only being trained in ninjitsu, logically it's a miracle he can speak english.

And also, some people can just be poor spellers. Look around the f*cking forums, for example.

I don't see the problem. When Mikey said, "You're the guy with the cat?!" I honestly laughed quite hard.

Some of this humor seems to be lifted from Simpsons or Family Guy. The scene with the shuriken heading towards Mike's face as he said, "This is so cool," reminded me of something similar happening to Homer once.

I once spelled 'please' with a z - "pleaze."
I was sleep deprived at the time, but still, I stared at the word for like, 15 minutes, switching the e and the a around, trying to figure out why it looked wrong.
Anyways, that's my story and why I don't judge a person on their spelling abilities. Not even Mikey.

I definitely noticed that as well. When Splinter said he would have to meditate on who the leader will be and then slams the door, opens it immediately and says "It's Leonardo." It's seemed very Simpsonian/family guy-esqu.

I know I am late to the party but the episode was great. Mike on the show is so fun. Hope raph becomes less of a bully as the show goes on. Raph is my favorite turtle but not on this cartoon. He's kind of just a jerk here.

Eh, he was definitely a jerk in "Turtle Temper" but I think it's clear he has a softer side and was just acting out. I mean, he has a pet turtle who he's clearly attached to, and his brotherly reassurance to Mikey in this episode balanced out his bullying pretty well. He's definitely not perfect, but as long as he has heart I'm not going to complain that he's an angry bully.

I do really hope he continues to be the best fighter though. To me it's really boring when then the leader also gets to be the best fighter. It's more of an interesting dynamic when there's fights that Leonardo can't win but he knows Raphael can... The things that make someone a good fighter aren't the things that make someone a good leader and all that.

Agreed on most of your points. I love raphael so many I am just thinking too much into it. Leo and raph both can kick equal amounts of faces and I'd be happy but I get where you're coming from. Where is the fun in one turtle being good at everything?

In any team of characters it's important that they all have their strengths. Donny's is the most obvious, he's the tech guy, Leo's is leadership, and Raphael's is being the muscle. Mikey's isn't really determined yet but it's clear that he will grow into it. He's the most naive but has a lot of potential.

I don't know about other incarnations, because the 4kids series is the one I'm watching now, but I feel that the biggest thing lacking is development of characters besides Leonardo. There's a couple of neat episodes about Raphael, like the one about his temper, and "Lone Raph and Cub" but all of the serious story stuff is relegated to Leo and it's kind of lame that in a show about four brothers, only one of them gets the serious storylines and goes toe to toe with The Shredder.

Don't get me wrong, Leo's awesome, but I would like to see Raphael be the one who ultimate faces the Shredder one on one and wins. Bonus points if Leo has to send him to do it for some reason.

I just like to see each turtle shine in their own way.

This was probably my biggest gripe with the 03 show as well. I don't know how far you are into the series, but better buckle down for about 4 and a half seasons of "The Leo Show." Not that it wasn't a good series, it was, but character development for the other three guys was a bit of an Easter egg hunt up until the last half of season 4. Thankfully, that's one thing that Nick seems to have nipped in the bud, and I'm really looking forward to watching all of the turtles have their moments in this series.

Me being a Leo fan loved that aspect of the show, and felt like it was like a compensation because Leo was ignored most of the time in the first series. I really never felt that Leo was the true leader because Donatello was the one with the plans and the solutions in most episodes, I only remember Leonardo saying "Turtles fight with honor" or some other cheese line.

I completely understand. I felt the exact same way for the first 2 seasons. After that, though...it was hard not to roll my eyes every time an episode took a turn for the Leo. It made me rather mad, actually; here was a character that I loved and yet the way the show was handling things was turning me into some sort of anti-Leo.

From the wisdom of Mike himself,"Like isn't Schwarzenegger hard to spell?".

See, I felt differently. I loved season 4 and Leo's angsty mood. It really developed well and was resolved well, too, even if it was a bit rushed. Still, I agree that this show is giving equal focus to all of the Turtles, even if it's centered on a certain character as was shown from this episode with Mikey. The others still got screen time and a chance to shine in one way or another. That's one thing I like about it already. But, hey, who doesn't love a Leo-centric episode?

Yes to all that

I don't want it to be the Leo show either but right now it seems like they are spending a lot of time on Mikey. It really seems like the Mikey Show maybe it's because the last episode I saw was last weekends adventure with Chris Bradford- may have something to do it with it.

Then again in every episode it seems like he's stealing the show IMO.

Wonderful episode.Chris Bradford and Sever are my favorite Shedder henchmen (wonder who'd win if they faced off) I loved the humor, the fight scene in the sewer, and the brotherly fluff.
