I was soooo looking forward to this. Then it comes out, and I'm so annoyed - I didn't get it. (Or #15. Don't feel up for a 5th Turtle, even if he is evil.)

The price, really, was a big factor. I get why it's $9 -- Batman Inc Leviathan was in similar format. But I was really looking forward to an actual comic - not a mini-Trade Paperback.

Biggest problem though, that it was done in Black and white. I'm a fan of the Black and white comics - but this really just... jeez - I do not appreciate a $9 price-tag, and not even a colorist is present. I understand it - trying be classic, and all that - but I don't recall it being solicited as being in black and white. Was it? (And Eastman's colored variant covers looked so good)

Just disappointed. I'm sure its good - but it simply wasn't in any format I was expecting.

You probably should have. Was worth every penny.

Well i think this is a book you would regret not getting later, so i would be getting it, if i were you.
If you like B&W, then the price tag being high should not be such a problem imo. ( tho its ofc ok, if it is economic reasons )
But imo, this is a book too good to pass if you are just basing the pass on cosmetic problems, such as being an issue or a thin TPB, or such.

Btw, i have not read it yet...

Economic reasons definitely factored into it. If I had more money, yeah I might have gotten over it. If I ever really want to read it - then whatever TPB of Hardcover it will be printed in is the obvious solution.

I loved it, its a great read, has some nice nods to 2 of the greatest comic story tellers of all time in Frank Miller & Richard Corben. It's a very fun read, and has a lot of re-readability to it. I really dug the multiple flashbacks to tell the story from multiple vantage points. The rising tensions between the Savate & Foot is interesting and I hope we see more of it in the future, we really haven't seen anything on the Savate vs. Foot since that one issue way back (the issue # currently escapes me), what's it been 6 months or so since that scene?

Wow....and $40 for the other 2 Jetpack variants? Unreal. I hope they don't sell any and lose a ton of money. Their variants are so over-priced its ridiculous. If someone was to get all 4 that would run you $280!!

I get that Jetpack has a long storied history with the TMNT franchise and a strong personal relationship with Kevin & Peter, but holy crap those Jetpack Variants are getting ridiculous. I sucked it up and picked up the first few Jetpack Retro variants, but at $20 a piece I thought that was ridiculous when I was also getting the A cover, B cover, RI A and RI B as well. But man it has gotten out of hand when you also have Jetpack variants for the color classics. Its too really too bad, you'd think if they had set these blanks somewhere at $15-20 they would have sold a ton of them, but I really don't see them moving too many of them at $100 a pop except with the wealthiest of fans and scalpers. Heck at $100 for the blank annual with no sketch on it, you might as well pass, pick up a Red Label at $140 shipped, that comes with 3 signatures and an original sketch from Dan Duncan instead.

Honestly? It was kind of a pain in the ass to read. The art was kinda muggy, and the story just drug on forever. Kinda disappointed.

I quite liked it as well. Not sure where I'd rank it among other Eastman stories though.

Anybody else who's read it like the potential for more amped up tensions between the Savate & Foot. I wonder if this is something we may see more of in Secret History of the Foot Clan. Maybe I'm grasping at straws but I don't think it'd be too big of a stretch to maybe have a past history between these two. French imperialists & traders encounter the Foot clan hundreds of years ago, a man studies the way of the foot, brings it back to France, and there is a tribute system back to the Foot set up all the way back then, that would kind of set this tribute of diamonds to the Shredder in tradition and add bigger implications to the Savate failing to complete this lasting tribute tradition.

Looking forward to reading this as well. Had to pick it up from ebay, but got it for $7 and some change.

I was interesting in picking up a Jetpack variant, but I'm not sure I will pay $40 or more for it. $20, sure I'd buy it, two even. But those blank covers? insane...

It was very interesting the way all the converging stories were weaved together. That was a lot of stuff going on at the same time.

The only part that I didn't care for was reading Raph and Casey's detailed explanation of the incident to Angel's dad and company almost immediately after it happened. They could have skipped to another part of the story and then came back there instead of dragging it out. Minor gripe though.

The battle at the end with all those bodies flying around after a briefcase full of valuables reminded me of the climax to "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World."

Agreed, really hope it works for Kevin to do issue #21.

Agreed. $100 yikes, better off spending the extra $40 to get the Red Label if you don't have one ordered already, and get 3 signatures plus some Duncan Original Art. $100 just for essentially a substrate to get a sketch on is ridiculous. That turns a $100 sketch into a $200 investment.

Definitely, I've been showing everybody.

I don't blame your anger at all man, and not just because I know how much you've been campaigning for blank covers. On a basic economic level I don't understand how they justify an almost 1200% percent price increase to get this book with a blank cover. If they are intending to have some art already done when purchase that's one thing, but based on what I've seen that $100 is just for a copy of the book, that you then would need to get into the hands of someone to personalize

i dont beleive in collecting comic art for investment sake, but the likelyhood of anyone making their money back on a resell, let alone a profit, is pretty much out of the question. i'd much rather spend the full $200 on a regular commission.

It was Halloween. :p Probably a lot of partying being done.

Read the issue yesterday morning and loved it. Honestly, that it was B&W didn't even strike me as curious; I always expected an Eastman-drawn comic with genuine DuoShade tones to be B&W.

Some of the art seemed a little rushed, but Eastman made up for that with super awesome splash pages. I hope he draws full issues again soon, not just TMNT but more stuff of his own. Roninbebop is one of my favorite books sitting on my shelf.
