Woody --

Spoiler:
lives.

The Issue was a pretty good, but I feel like since we waited so long for this one, it was anti-climatic, especially since the appearance of Slash was not a surprise. (Is #16 on its way yet, LOL?)

i guess it's because we did not have a micro-series issue come out in between like previous months. i too feel it's been too long since the last issue.

Remember the Foot Clan mini-series starts soon. And don't forget the Annual fills in the gaps.

Mostly enjoyable issue and believe it or not, I actually found Slash to be drawn even better here than in the April special. I figured he'd be from an alligator snapper... now he's like a melding of Tokka and Archie Slash and that's fine by me.

One thing, though... it's a little hard for me to take seriously the Killer Turtle when at every turn the story stops and makes sure we know that everyone he hurts is OK. Probably a Nick thing.

i haven't forgotten. i'm psyched. but i meant this past month it felt longer than usual. i'm certain we'll get bombarded with Turtles in the next few months.

side note: i actually like khun's art here (except the Turtles). his humans are quite impressive.

Spoiler:
Not sure if its a nod to Tokka while being Slash due to the difference in depiction in this issue.

Slash ripping that guy's shirt and using it as a mask to mimmick the turtles was clever and gave me a snicker. Also, the media names him Slash. Reminds me of how The Daily Bugle once did that in ASM.

Nice plotpoint of moving the turtles into a hopefully permanent lair. Bomb shelter under a church with access to the sewer? Creative, historical, and cool. I say that as a history buff.

It looks like the whole killing vs no killing policy will come to a head next issue and be in my boy Mikey's hands.

Glad the pizza deliver boy did not get killed, but it would not have been any of loss if he was. I thought for sure he was slashed.

Speculation wise...

So, how many more cages are there in the lab? TMNT,Splinter,Slash, and ?

Could Slash be reincarnated as well and perhaps be Teng Shen and Oroku Saki's illegimate son?

I hope Slash is not re-incarnated in any way. To me the thing I love most about IDW's depiction of Slash is the pure animal he is. He is all instinct, pure carnal animal instinct. He's after the turtles and stalks them & hunts them

Spoiler:
until he finally tracks them back to their new lair and attacks

To me he is everything that Stockman is trying to create for Krang with his experiments. A mindless pure rage war machine soldier who is released to hunt down and bring carnage. I think that's definitely more "realistic" of what a mutated animal would be like if it didn't have any brain enhancement or played part of the re-incarnation theme. So far he is spot on, I hope they leave re-incarnation out of it when it comes to Slash.

Every character in this comic is not going to be reincarnated from someone in ancient Japan. I'm not sure why this keeps getting brought up everytime a new character is brought into the series.

I was only addressing MikeandRaph's statement about the re-incarnation issue, thats the only reason I brought it up in my post. Everyone is going to have differing stances on how deep the reincarnation of characters theme goes, so obviously yes not every character is going to be reincarnated (I hope!) but you can't blame some people for theorizing/hoping for certain main characters to be a part of that theme, thats just going to vary on personal preference. I really don't see the speculation and guessing about if a character has a previous tie to the Turtles going away anytime soon. It may get old, but I think until we have the Shredder origin fully laid out and some idea of why in NYC and why now that all these things from the past are returning, this issue is going to come out after every new character is introduced. I personally hope it stops at the 4 turtles, Splinter, and Shredder. Those have all been well done, but I don't want to see anymore, but that's just my preference and it isn't any more valid than anyone elses.

Good issue, but I have one gripe:
Why, if the police are on the look out for Slash, and the Turtles match his description, does Leonardo have no qualms with Raph going to Casey's, very public, hockey game?

That's a good point, character flaw in a young leader?

I'm going to have to go back and reread it, I don't have it in front of me at this point, I left it at work. At what point does the police description of Slash come into play in the issue? Is it before or after Raph first mentions going to the game? If its after Raph brings up the game, it could just be that they're so focused on finding the new lair that the thought of Raph matching the description of Slash that they heard while on this mini mission never really sinks in until
Spoiler:
he's beating the crap out of them in their new lair?

Spoiler:
The guys save a mugging victim and both he and the muggers flip, assuming they are Slash-s, and right after Raph mentions the game, again.

Ahh that's right, thanks for refreshing my memory. They seemed to both be a little confused at that point why the guy they just saved ran off, you're right a red flag should've been raised in Leo's mind there. I guess it didn't sink in? Maybe this story, like the annual is set around Halloween, and they feel that Raph going to the game with April in a jacket with a hoodie pulled up could be considered a costume? Hockey fans go nuts with face paint and fan get-ups maybe Raph had some sort of plan to use that to blend in. That's kinda weak, I agree with you that Leo should've at least tried to argue with Raph or state that he doesn't want him going.

Actually, we're probably in February on the timeline right now.

Anyways, great issue this month. Kuhn did some cool stuff and the fight with Slash at the end was brilliant in all departments, particularly coloring.

Not sure how I feel about Mikey's whining about Shredder, but he'll easily change his tune if Shredder goes too far.

Raph was obviously going to wear a trench coat to the game! No one would have suspected a thing.

After Woody's talk with Michelangelo in the issue, I really have come to like the character. He's a good soul, and a nice ally to the turtles. As a character who's fully accepting of five foot tall talking turtles, he's a very believable person.

I love, love, LOVE the way Khun drew and Waltz portrayed Slash. More primal and instinct and a mix of Slash and Tokka's strongest design points, this is probably the first time I've really liked this character.
