That's sort of not cool that someone else is taking credit for Lairds work.
Unless they are calling Eastman & Laird Dynamic Forces now lol I do like the original much better though. Very cool covers none the less. |

Pete's is based off of a sketch Kevin did, so I'm assuming the cover in use here is his actual sketch. Just don't know why they called it that.

I agree. And the lasers kinda disrupt a lot of Raph. But it is still nice to see some good old Mirage stuff in current publications. I just hope they give credit if there is need for credit.

Yeah, by 'his actual sketch' I meant Kevins. Good to to get some clarification on the name, though.

Its too bad they couldn't get Peter's permission to use the finished copy, the detail is awesome.

Wooow, cover overload again!
![]() I'm totally loving the Dynamic Forces cover the best - it has a very classic Mirage feel to it (with good reason!).

Published art, yes. That is why Laird got paid $60 million. Random doodles, no.

Man all of those covers are gorgeous, its weird that there are to Retailer Incentive covers, but no 1:4 Cover B cover. I assume the RI covers are at a 1:10 & 1:25 rate, or is it higher?
I really wish they would have had Burnham tackle a cover, don't know if you guys have ever had the pleasure of meeting Erik or seen his art, but it's top notch, I've had the pleasure of meeting him quite a few times & have 14 or 15 sketches from him. I really dig his take on the Turtles & Splinter, I hope we get to see him tackle a cover or two before the series is done.

Purely for sketching purposes. The idea is that you'd either buy the blank and have your favorite TMNT artist sketch on it or you'd buy it "pre-sketched" by Eastman (like the #1 RI D cover). Also, retailers sometimes make these RE blanks for upcoming in-store promotions like signings and planned artist visits.

Those blank covers are such a dilemma for me. I'll probably never have the opportunity for an artist to sketch them, but I'm trying to collect all variants so I still want them. Yet, I find it so hard to justify paying premium prices for a blank cover (like the $100 JP Annuals). Hopefully, since the blank JP cover of SHOTFC is limited to 250 copies instead of just 100, it will at least be 1/2 the price of the annual. But even that still seems way too high for retail price.
The IDW series seems to be holding up pretty well in value while the franchise is hot right now. But I wonder if 10 years from now nobody will care anymore and variants like the Jetpacks will be struggeling to sell on eBay with a $3.00 BIN! |
