How would you like the Mirage comics collected?
While the Ultimate Collection seems to be near-universally accepted as a great presentation of the Eastman & Laird issues, people seem to be very divided on the other IDW Mirage trades, from the coloring to the issues in each trade. IDW has been collecting (or trying to) chronologically, but with certain issues coming up, this has led to a lot of skipping around and even the first trade "collecting" one issue! If it were up to you, how would you like to see them collected?
I personally am holding out for creator-oriented volumes, and hopefully they will also be in black & white. These reprints apparently cost very little overhead, and IDW is known to double, triple, however-many-it-takes dip, so we may eventually see a more properly collected Mirage eventually. I'd like the creator-oriented volumes to collect full issues and shorts. It more often than not flows better visually and narratively. Something like: TMNT Presents: -Michael Dooney - #13, #27, #46-47, TMNT Attack! Pts 1-4, Junk Man, Meanwhile... 100,000,000 B.C. -Eric Talbot/A.C. Farley (since their contributions may not be quite enough for a full trade) - #17, Ghouls Night Out, Not One Word!, The Howl, It's a Gas, #29, #43, Crack in a Hard Heart, Fiften Years Later... -Rick Veitch - The River Trilogy, #30, Casey Jones #1-2 And so on...

Creator oriented black and white. I dont mind the coloring on the new collections but they collect so little and its going to take years and years for them all to come out.I wish theyd do hardcover collections for everything including image. Itd be faster, cheaper, and more awesome as a whole. The archie and tales stuff will probably still be uncollected by the time the nick show and the idw run are over. Seriously though, I would bust some heads for the image run to be collected hardcover and black and white. Please idw? Take my money

We just need more comics at once. I feel like the ultimate collections aren't fair price-wise, but hey thats just my two-cents

I disagree. You get a lot for your money with those collections. The smaller collections are priced 20 a pop , are paperback, and not even a third of the size of the ultimate collections . Plus they just look gorgeous.

IDW will be almost done collecting all of Volume 1 by the end of this year.
You guys do realize that between the 5 Ultimate Collections, and about 7 Classics Vol. 1 collections....that's all of Volume 1 right? |

And you do realize that's not really relevant to this thread, right?

I would want to see them collected chronologically storyline wise instead of by release date. On a side note why are two of the poll options the same?

D'oh! The intuitive can probably figure out that the 4th option is meant to be "Chronologically, colorized," but yeah, I screwed up. Anyone know how to edit poll options?

Its a shame that you can't edit the poll on this forum like you can on some other forums. But its clear that B&W was the original format that was meant to be read. Unfortunately with numerous re-releases and continuity discussions, its difficult to have a definitive collection. Issues 41-47 have never been released in TPB format, and having the others requires a mix of Classics, Ultimate Collections, Collected Book, and Soul Writer formats making it confusing. If anything, I'd first release Classics Volume 6 and 7 collecting issues #41-#47, and then going back and perhaps releasing a grand "complete collection", with both a standard version and a deluxe version including the Turtles micros, Tales Vol. 1, and other specials such as those found in the tabletop RPG.
But I'd also support a full Vol. 1 in color series that's more attractive to the younger generation. A Vol. 2 collection would also be a good idea since there are now TPB's for that, and perhaps move on to Vol. 4/Tales Vol. 2 collections down the road as that era waxes nostalgic in time.

They mostly are doing that though. All the Ultimate collection issues are in order, and the classics are in order except the Veitch issues which were skipped due to the writer.

In order, hardcover, and however they were originally printed. I don't mind color if they were done that way.

That's true and they are giant hardcover books! But i'd still like more comics for the price and wait time/delays.

"Chronologically, black & white", unless the original artworks were in color, like Volume 2's 13 issues. I hope we'll get Volume 2 in one or two Ultimate Collections books. WITH THE ORIGINAL COLORING!

Volume 2 with the original coloring would be great.
