I love that scene as well. Leo has always been my favorite but this version is really awesome.

So I guess Dr. Falco literally had his flesh burned. Makes you wonder how he survived such nasty scarring.

Minus the obviously superior animation in the 2k3 show i am enjoying the nick show a hell of a lot more. I'm watching them simultaneously and this show is more entertaining for me. The nick version of splinter just gets better and better. Loved the rat king.

Lmao, superior animation? You should be a comedian.

Geez, it felt good to see a new episode, and damn did they deliver. The creative team behind this show continue to blow me away. Falco being the Rat King not only gives him some sort of depth from the onset, but all the more interesting in my opinion, too.

Rat King's design is great, his attack on Splinter reminded me of "City at War" - you could tell the Mirage influence there.

Well done, yet again!

Awesome episode! Totally worth the wait.

I loved Rat King's origin, although it's kind of weird that both he and Shredder are villainous burn victims. Although it created an interesting parallel between him and Splinter, as his life was also destroyed by fire, even if in a different way. The cgi flames looked really neat too.

It's really cool to see the guys slowly progressing in their training, but it was cool that the episode didn't cop out and have them actually defeat Splinter. The lead up to that fight had a total "boss battle" feel too. And the setting for the climax was pretty amazing

I laughed so hard at Mikey popping out Don's nagi blade on Splinter. Probably the funniest moment of the series so far, at least upon first viewing.

Lastly, neat touch having multiple different models for the rats.

Russ Carney, writer of the episode, posted this one twitter tonight.

[ep 112 - Leatherhead] LEONARDO: "Where the heck are we?" DONATELLO: "According to my calculations...(SNIFFS THE AIR) New Jersey?"

[ep 112 - Leatherhead] MICHELANGELO: "It's as beautiful as they say!" Donnie's cut joke now sounds like a plot point. It's not.

"Leatherhead", aka "It Came From the Deep" is a one-part episode. They aren't trapped in a sewage plant.

Awesome episode! I am very glad that they are re-using characters and just making up new ones every week, even if it just small quick clips, like Mr Murakami, and Carlos Chang O'Brian Gambe, I feel it gives them more depth when we see something tragic happen to them. After I watched this ep I watched "Monkey Brains" and then re watched "I, Monster" and I gotta say it makes for a cool 2 part-ish episode! I recommend it!

since the styles of the 03 and Nick series are so different i can't say one is superior to the other. though, i will admit i prefer traditional animation over CGI. that being said, i really like the CGI of this series.

The writing on this Episode surpassed ALL Previous Episodes IMO! One of the best Episodes so far for sure

Loved the one on one Ninja Battle between Leo & Splinter, I'm glad Leo is getting more spotlights in Episodes! Absolutely amazing way to start the second half of the 1st Season can't wait for Karai.

9.3/10

Man, the Rat King was awesome. You can tell the serie's actually got some character development and the writing is extremely well delivered, and thanks to that the stories just keep getting better. I hope they make the Rat King into a recurring character, he's just too cool.

The only part of this episode that I didn't like was Splinters attack on April. It didn't seem believable. I think Splinter would have chopped her to pieces. There's no way a teenage girl in training could dodge his blade that many times.

But other than that it was great.

'Lower level CG'?

Okay then... I thought the animation in the 2K3 series was pretty choppy, but different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I for one love the CGI in this show. As much as I love Green Lantern TAS, TMNT is the far better show on a visual level. Then again, GLTAS is pretty much Bruce Timm style put into 3D (and he has a deliberately streamlined/simplistic/art deco-y style), so that might be an unfair comparison. Either way, I find each episode is a visual treat and this episode was no exception, imo.

Anyhow!

I suspect the Rat King will probably be a 'once (maybe twice) per season' character, akin to Cad Bane from 'The Clone Wars'. Simply because he's already proven to be scarily competent: he managed to succeed further than both the Shredder's lackeys and the Kraang in terms of hitting the Turtles the hardest. Not to mention his mind control powers (I suspect Splinter will have probably developed some sort of 'mental wall' for the next time they inevitably encounter the Rat King) as well. And to be honest, I think I'd kinda prefer it to be that way. Overuse would diminish further impact, but that's just me.
