Awesommmmme issue. My ramblings, spoilers included:

First of all, Ben Bates draws some sick action scenes. I always loved Dan Duncan's swipe effect he would use during fights, but Bates stuff practically reads like it's moving. Mikey was kicking some ass. Also, Ronda's coloring was at it's best in a while.

Some great reveals, for sure. And I loved how the sequence of Fugitoid filling the turtles (and us) in didn't bore even though it covered a lot of stuff from his Micro. I'm glad they explained that one computer screen from the background in Fugitoid that said "Earth casualties post-terraform: 3.3 Million" or whatever.

Interesting to find out that Quanin was our mystery oot at the end of Foot Clan #1 and not Krang. Love his fashion sense lol. Krang's facial expressions in the flash backs really demonstrated what a whimp he used to be. I'm super excited for his Micro now.

Very clever detective work on April's part there, and even sneakier of Karai! Can't wait to see her to go to Burnow Island. I wonder if she'll sneak in alone, or storm it with a contingent of ninja.

That was actually pretty rough stuff with the Neutrino royalty at the end there... Other than Saki executing the Hamato's in #5, this was the biggest "he needs a beatdown" moment in the series.

Thank God only two weeks til 19!

Weren't those quanin's sad facial expressions in the flashbacks?

It wasn't outright stated, but Quanin's android body looks the same. I mean Bates' version looks a tad different than Santolouco's, but it's got the same OT Krang vibe.

Bummed, my shop still doesn't have this issue. They told me it was supposed to be here this week, but it never arrived from Diamond. Does seem odd that Diamond has a monopoly over the distribution of comics. I suppose it'd be too costly for companies to do it themselves.

UPS and FedEx could feasibly run them out of business, but Diamond uses UPS to ship to stores so they probably have some sort of contract.

Does anybody know why the digital #18 is more expensive than the other issues? I buy through Comixology and it's gone up a £1. I know I'll end up buying it anyway but still, i'm curious.

So...interesting little tidbit about Mikey from this issue. I'm not sure who's read it at this point, so I'll put it in spoilers.

Spoiler:

It seems like he was definitely trying to kill that guy that captured the princess. He threw a ninja star at the back of the dude's head and was surprised to see it bounce right off. Seems a little odd seeing as how torn up he was about having to kill Shredder a few issues ago...

Otherwise, a lot of fun!

Here's my review for TMNT #18 at TMNT Entity.

Whew, that was a heck of a wait, but it was worth it.

I have such a strange love/hate attitude toward the Neutrinos. Their personalities annoyed me to no end in the cartoon, even as a kid, but I was always intrigued by their back story. In the case of this arc, their annoying personalities have been excised and all that's left is the mythology expanding back story (which Waltz is having a blast with).

Mikey's crush on Princess Trib was random, but I hope it pays off. Turtle romances so rarely ever develop in the comics and cartoons and I'm kind of sick of them being introduced and discarded as afterthoughts. We'll see what Waltz squeezes out of this.

And April is STILL sneaking around Stockgen? Yeah, I guess they have no proof that she stole the Turtle Trackers in her micro, but man, she's really got to be pushing her luck at this point.

Loving Ben Bates' art, too. He adds an animated element to their exaggerated expressions and body language, but doesn't go overboard with it. He strikes a great balance that has the effect of giving the characters more energy and personality without laying it on too thick. Great stuff.

Though Karai had to spy on April and Stockgen to learn about Burnow Island? One would think that would be the first thing Chet would tell Shredder about considering he was trying to maneuver the Foot into thwarting Krang...

I love Mikey in this issue, but I am wondering if just trying to impress the princess or trying to feel like a super-hero like in the comics he reads .
I also wonder if a ninja shiruken could actually pierce a skull????

This issue was a little week especially with the cliff hanger at the end, but the hinting at the end of this issue was great!!!
