Am I the only one who wonders abut the slits in Leatherhead's shoulders every time I see him?

I have wondered about those as well.. They look like armor, but I'm not sure exactly how they formed during his mutation.

Yeah, but they give the appearance of shoulder armor. More for looks than function.. but hey, alligators are a pretty thick skinned bunch.

One theory I have is that his skin seperated due to stress on his shoulders while he was growing, creating hardened folds of skin.

I just can't seem to shake the thought of what LH has been up to during all this time...

How long has it actually been since the events of TCRI?

What happened the moment after the portal closed?

Was he captured? Did he run for it? Is he plotting a way to get back?

Where is he getting his oxygen from?

So many questions... Not enough answers...

Something horrible just crossed my mind...

The way the portal transported Tragg it would appear that the user/object must stand on the platform and wait to be instantaneously transported to the other. When LH dragged Tragg into that ball of light, it exploded, which could imply that the object was immediately destroyed during transit...

What if Leatherhead was...

Yeah, you're right... I guess the more I re-watched that scene the more my mind started to over-analyze things...

Yeah.. I suppose they wouldn't put that much effort and budget into him if they were going to just kill him off..

So after today's episode, I've been thinking... Assuming Leatherhead can breathe and survive in Dimension X, could it be possible that he and April somehow have closer ties than we thought? If LH was experimented on to the point where he could survive the elements of Dimension X...

Could April be tied to similar experiments?

Good question. I would have to guess he is around 18 or 19.

You know it would be interesting to see LH and MM meet before having any interaction with the Turtles or Shredder. Like, say Seymour Guts has a tragic event happen to him that made him into MM and LH sympathizes with him.

I doubt that'll canonically be how we're introduced to MM but it's nice to think about.

I hope he is still fighting and not in captivity...The poor guy's spent his entire life being tortured and experimented on, and he finally got away from all that... Being captured and experimented on again would only worsen his condition.

Okay, so in my speculations, I've come up with two possible scenarios, should we see LH return in the season finale:

1.Leatherhead has been fighting and hiding in Dimension X, waiting for an opportunity to escape back to earth. The Turtles go to Dimension X in the season 1 finale, meet Kraang Prime, get in a tough spot, and then Leatherhead makes his triumphant return!

2. Leatherhead was captured after he returned to Dimension X where the Kraang have been continuing their horrible experiments. The Turtles go to Dimension X to face Kraang Prime, and during their infiltration they come across Leatherhead being preserved in a specimen chamber. They save him, just as he saved them from Traag.
