1988 Gags, Jokes and Crazy Weapons #3

Hello Dear Tmnt Fans, in the Tmnt original toyline first year this third set of accessories came out.

Gags, Jokes and Crazy Weapons #3 Jokebook #3 (photo courtesy of MAXtDie )

You may have noticed by now that these were the first and only three jokebooks that were printed in yellow paper. That would change briefly to light blue and finally to white.

Toycard art was nice, although, like I said in the other two threads, it would be pretty much the same card used for all the three sets.

The accessories included this time were a “no Foot shield” (my favourite I must say), a sewer cover flyer, a sewer stopper (also a good one), a gas mask and a sewer searchlight.

Plus a Turtle razzer, to “insult” the Foot Clan (yeah, whatever…), mutant turtle eggs and the third National Turtle Quizjokebook.

I believe, this is the best set of all, but that´s my humble opinion only. I think it´s a nice addition to the Tmnt universe and again any could have been featured on the original Tv show. If you want to buy only one of these three, then I suggest you to but this one.

Here´s a good review on youtube of the three sets
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmHuy...CDF724&index=2

Anyone knows if there was a Tv commercial for these sets?

and finally here is featured in the 1988 playmates toy catalog (Photo Courtesy of Tuboloso)

What do you think about this third set? Do you got it? Any memories you wanna share from where you bought and saw it the very first time? Anyone used the mutant eggs with someone?

Hope you liked and thanks for reading.

Between the gas mask and the plunger, this seems to me like the most interesting set of accessories. I would have loved to have had some of those pieces when I was a kid!

These were not sold with the Turtle figures at some places. There is a good reason for that. They were only accessories to the action figures, and not action figures. They did not move as well as the figures did either. So, they were "in the back" of some places. Then again, these always looked as if they were meant to be sold with the fun gifts and silly toys at K-Mart/Wal-Mart. In 1990, the shirts, mini plushes, Collector's case, and socks were all in the same area as the action figures at Wal-Mart.

Ive always really liked the gas mask in this one. Never owned any of these accessories packs, but my best friend did, but I never realized they were sold separately from the figures.

Also, what is the red and tan thing on the joke book?

Those sets were mainly sold at Toys R Us, Kay Bee Toys, and some small business toy stores.

The red and tan thing is the Turtle Call Razzer. It's works like a whistle does.

It's too bad the Turtles did not use the gas masks on the show. These sets just seemed useless to the fans who enjoyed show. The masks did not even show up on any folders or portfolios. Yet, the weapons of Rock 'N Roll Michelangelo appeared on a folder. I'm not sure why these sets exist other than the fact that almost every powerful toyline in the early 80's (pre- '84)had an accessory pack.

Got a li'l question.

About the gas mask. It doesn't fit at all with my Raph and Leo.

Still gonna buy Mike and Don. The image there shows Mike being able to wear it perfectly. I'm wondering if anyone could confirm that it could fit in Mike's head. Looking at the picture made me think that it's made for Mike, but I may be wrong.

I loved these sets. The plunger, gas mask, and flashlight were some of my favorite TMNT accessories.

I love how the plunger fits perfectly into the sewerpipe bazooka from accessory pack #1.
