Did Townsend Coleman really regret voicing Krang?

Not sure if he was joking or not, but in an audio, he said he regretted it. He voiced Krang in 2 episodes when Pat Fraley wasn't available. His Krang's impersonation wasn't all that bad. He kinda sounds like Mr. Fraley at times. His Thompson, Splinter, and Shredder voice were okay too. He shouldn't feel bad about it.

He probably feels bad about doing a fellow co-workers role.

Why Fred Wolf couldn't wait a day to record lines for the characters if the VA couldn't come in that day is beyond me.

I listened to that too, and he definitely is sorry for doing it. Not because he was doing the job of his friend and coworker (those guys filled in for each other all the time!), but because he thought his voice didn't do justice to the character.

To be honest all the VA replacements were rough but I realize how hard it is to imitate another guys voice.

He'd be right about that.

Apparantly based on how tight their schedules were, the episodes might have been delayed or cancelled altogether. It seemed to be make or break at that time. We need so-and-so episodes by this date, no ifs ands or buts.

Since season 3 had approximately a six month window between the scripts written and going to air in a "hot" franchise, there was no choice but to use whoever was available. I still prefer all the VA's in one room over individual booth recordings (thank goodness for Andrea Romano keeping this style alive on the Nick series), as the current Nick series could be one of the last of its kind in terms of voice recording. I always felt that Krang felt had laryngitis for those episodes like some people normally do. Even Pat Fraley's Krang sounds different as the series progressed (compare the dark, menacing voice in the first two seasons with the raggedness of the Red Sky Krang). I feel Townsend should regret voicing Shredder more quite honestly.

Tbh, Coleman's Shredder sounded like Rat king trying to imitate the James Avery Shredder.

that's a good way to describe it....I STILL wish Nick would redub those episodes. I have a hard time enjoying them due to Shredders voice.
I actually quite liked his Krang, however. It was a little higher pitched, but I thought it was pretty good.

I thought Shredder's voice in Season 7 was pretty good. I wish they used him for Season 8 and 10.

Yes, that's the third and last one. It was Blast From The past, Cowabunga Shredhead and Green With Jealousy. Interesting to note Blast From The Past used both voices.

Me too. It sounded less like nails on a chalkboard than any of the other alternate Shredders.
