Better to bring Hun back than create some generic gang leader.

Also the more 4kids representation the better. It's nice to have a balance and not all OT or Mirage villains.

Why does it have to be an either/or proposition, thought? One could also conceivably create an original character who's awesome on their own terms. Hun, as much as I love him, does not have a monopoly on gang leader roles, so why act as if he does?

Glad to see him "back".
Making him not unbelievably muscular, does not disturb me, but they should have kept his pony tail. I know he doesn't have it since Tristan version, but still...
Anyways, I actually love this new design of him, a lot.

Btw, Tristan did TMNT Infestation 2, so it's not like he totally disappeared, and I hope they will bring him back for more in the future.

On the story, I think Hun must have something to do with how Angel was almost died, and Casey saved him. Maybe Hun was the source of the danger?

And yep, villain micros won't end at #4, #5 was already anounced as Karai, and the staff approves stories at 4-part batches, so 2 more issues (possiblities: Victor, Kitsune, Bebop/Rocksteady) is very likely.

Have you seen all the other gang leaders or mob bosses in the previous cartoons and comics? Most of them wind up being incredibly generic and forgettable. I couldn't name you half the gang leaders in Mirage/Image, and the mob boss in the 4kids era from City at War was nothing special. Although I do like Big Louie from the original toon.

The reason why Hun stood out as much as he did is the 4kids show made him a major character, gave him a backstory with Casey, and he was Shredder's second in command. Then in Season 4 we watch him strike out on his own and turn the Purple Dragons from street thugs into a serious threat.

Also, he was incredibly violent, and the one responsible for removing most of Stockman's limbs, and even his best man like Dragonface feared him, yet he was loyal to the Shredder. Until he figured out that Saki was an alien jelly. (what a racism from him )
So to speak of, he had plenty of personality, even if he was a play on the stereotypical muscleman character.

I'm more looking forward to Slash! Never cared much for him. Its just street gangs are boring to me.
In 4kids Hun was an adult(or teenager) when Casey was a kid and he burnt down his dads shop. Casey's in his late twenties so that'd make Hun in his thirties or forties. But Slash, I'm just stoked to see Santolouco draw him and Old Hob and to see what those two are up to. It's been a long time since the epilogue to blood brothers.

Where these mirage villains? I don't think anyone who's exclusively mirage has shown up yet. Lots of OT characters though.

To be fair, Mirage doesn't have a lot of villains that haven't been used in other media since. Technically Shredder, Karai and Baxter are all Mirage villains.

Fingers crossed for Complete Carnage at some point, though.

I'm surprised neither Rat King or Leatherhead showed up yet. Other than the Triceratons they're the most well known Mirage characters not to appear yet.

Bloodsucker is another good mirage character as well as those named and unnamed gang leaders from the gang wars story arch and Cha Ocho

They've been adapted like three or four times, they're only mirage in the sense that they originated there, in which case shredder is a mirage villains.

That's what The Big Bad is saying though. It's entirely possible to create a new gang leader or mob boss that isn't generic or forgettable.

By your logic, before 2K3 came out with Hun, you could just as easily say that every gang leader and mob boss will never be anything but generic/forgettable because they always have been in the past. And then, omg, someone created one that wasn't.

True, but now we have a popular character that works as a Purple Dragon leader, an associate to Shredder, and as a gang/mob boss, so it works.

Just like before Bishop existed all we had was generic govenment agent characters in TMNT that they cycled through since we didn't have a "important" guy to use. Then we got Bishop.

True, but there are still plenty who don't really care for him. It's not like he's overwhelmingly beloved, so it's quite possible that some other writer/creator may come up with a gang/mob boss that is better. I myself am just alright with Hun, so I'm kind of indifferent to whether he is replaced or not, though I did love Jones'/Harmon's Hun issue.
