TMNT #24 Preview/Discussion

Just read the issue and away with the major spoilers opposed to just light spoilers....

We are shown Casey Jones will be fine and gets an udpate on what is going on from April and Angel. Then cut to the action ofr the rest of the issue with Hob bringing them to whereLeo is. One can guess that Old Hob can't be trusted leading to that great expression on Hob's face. Sure enough he did lead them into a trap locking them in the building that Shredder, Karai, and Alopex are waiting for them. Splinter is angered to make a kill of Shredder who bluffs Splinter about Leo being dead. He meant figuritively not litterally but Splinter did not understand that.Swipping his sword at Shredder's neck his blade is blocked b another. Not Shredder's Leo's! Splinter is at a loss for words and they all hold back not wanting to hurt Leo which gives the possessed Leo the advantage. fter knocking them around Shredder calls off Leo and says he wants Splinter for himself while the others can have at the three turtles. Foot soliders appear and attack the turtles. Slash bust down the door and helps the turtles escape. It appears Hob is playing both sides to his advantage. He only lead the turtles to Shredder because Shredder agreed to leave him alone in his takeover (which is going on now taking out punks and the Savant ninja are fighting them off)
in return only was unaware of Slash which Hob used against Shredder to get the turtles out.

The only things about this issue is 1.Where could all the foot have hidden during that entire duration unseen. There are too many in such a smal area to go unnoticed that long!
2.Why not have Splinter or the other three turtles address the fact Leo is mind controlled? Also, I hope Slash will get his mask back becuase he looks too much like Tokka than Slash so as soon as Leo is back into the fold I hope the black mask goes back on Slash. Otherwise, it is solid in every category! 9/10.

Great Read! Really enjoyed Slash's part in this issue. His interaction with Mikey is pretty comical.

...it was still really weird watching Leo fight his brothers and splinter. I know he kicked the crap out of them but I think it was only because he was going 100% and they were all in shock and didnt want to truly hurt him or fight back.

Okay I saw him as dark Leo now, he looks bad ass, now time to turn back into the Good Leo.

Why does Slash act just like Tokka, a little confused there, I don't know if its just a nod to Secret of the Ooze or what.

I love this arc, and Mateus turtles, can not wait until the next issue.

Loved it! I got to the last page without realising (I buy my comics digitally) and was so disappointed, I wanted to keep reading!

I thought the Mikey/Slash candy thing was adorable and totally a Mikey thing to do. Leo, well I figured it would be brutal but he just looks so damn cool in the foot garb. Really enjoying the artwork too. I do hope Karai gets a bit more character soon though, she's a bit too obedient at the moment for my taste.

The issue was epic but quite a short read. I do wonder exactly when the CityFall stuff is actually going to happen and affect the Turtles, since it's still mostly just TMNT VS Shredder. Just a casual mention and some random panels of the Foot fighting the Savate elsewhere doesn't really cut it...

Here's my review of TMNT #24 at TMNT Entity.

I don't feel like there's a whole lot of story in this issue to discuss, but man, Dark Leo's Foot Soldier uniform is really starting to grow on me.

At first I thought it was really busy and overdesigned, but the more I looked at it and broke it down, the more I started to like it. For once, I can't complain about tons of pouches on a comic book character, as the TMNT actually NEED them. The forearm guards make a whole lot of sense and are something Leo, on a practical level, should probably always have. The single katana and twin tanto were a cool way to keep him with his weapon gimmick but change it up just a little. And I rolled my eyes at that scarf at first, but then I noticed it's a fashion statement made by all the higher ups in the Foot Clan and Leo's just following the trend. A neat little detail.

And hey, Hob is finally starting to show that hint of devious intellect his microseries assured us he had. That's good news. Mikey's scenes with Slash were cute, though I don't necessarily want him to turn into a good guy, personally (in fact, I'd like it if he got his black bandana back so he'd look just a little less like Tokka). Can't wait to see where Hob's arc leads.

Really didn't like how they drew Mikey he almost looks like he is 12 its a little rediculous imo.

Totally agree; really think the differences are overemphasized and it's annoying to me.

Otherwise, I liked the issue. Hob being awesome (I love his design) and Mikey/Slash are the best parts. Dark Leo is pretty cool, but I'm not a fan of how the Turtles escaped and Shredder didn't seem to move to attack Splinter, giving them time to escape... the timing just seemed unrealistic to me.

Man, what a great issue! This is among my top 5 of favorite issues of IDW. Love the Dark Leo. Can't wait to see how the story will develop!

I loved the fight between Leo and his brothers. I hope we get to see more of this in the next issues. I also wonder if Casey will be able to help the turtles in their fight to get Leo back.

Hi people. I have indeed read the issue last week at comixology and posted my opinion on a certain topic, without any spoilers. Therefore it may make no sense for some, last week, and I really hope to have not offended anyone.

I really enjoy the IDW's take on TMNT and the City Fall storyline just ignites my spark when I read it!

Today I was really surprised, reading Santoluco's comment to the Evil Leo design - he's wearing Slash's mask!

That is soooooo cool - I have been right - Leo is Slash! I always felt that the 80'ies Slash was a completely underused fabulous character, that has several overlappings with Tokka. IDW's clear split ist amazing!

So I like the new Slash (Leo), the new Tokka, the new Ninjara (Alopex), the new Verminator (Old Hob).

Now I really hope for a new Rahzar to appear. But better designed than Dogpound...

And then Leatherhead, Armaggon (Future Shark), Antrax, Groundchuck, Dirtbag and Touch & Go!

PS: In Raphael's micro series on page 12 where the origin of Alopex is told and the mutagen infusion, one can see 5 further animals. This easter egg is either that, or a preview of those to come. There is a puppy (Rahzar), duck (Ace Duck), croc (Leatherhead), gecko (Mondo Gecko) and a bat (Wingnut)...

I thought this was a pretty good read. It mainly gets points for not being totally predictable. I didn't expect to see Dark Leo until #25, and I didn't expect Hob to pull what he did... and then send Slash in lol.

I was also surprised to see Alopex have no lines. I figured they released her micro when they did for a reason, but I guess she's gonna turn on Shredder way down the line. I'd imagine she's Hob's Foot Clan contact though. We'll see.

My main beef with it was Leo though. So Kitsune bends his memories into making him think he's loyal to Shredder, but the big parts of the false memories were his brothers dying and Shredder killing Splinter. Now, I was worried that the ending of City Fall would simply be Leo seeing his family and snapping out of it and that would have sucked, but at the same time... why does he not react to them at all?

My favorite part was Splinter's "I'll have your head" line. I really really love IDW Splinter, all of his lines were pretty cool this issue. I can't wait for when he finally does get to freak out on Saki.

So City Fall is all set up now. I'm interested to see what the plan is to get Leo back. Can't wait for the Karai micro

this was a fantastic issue! i love the city fall arch thus far as a whole. it's been quite the treat to go from SHotF to this...sooooo awesome! i really love the dark leo design and while i was never a tokka fan, i like how slash has a slight tokka feel to him. the mikey/slash relationship reminds me of chunk and sloth, especially with the candybar.
