Let's put it this way, they obsess over the lives of fictional cartoon characters especially in terms of shipping because its their wish fullfillment in real life.

All those people you see crying whenever fictional characters break up with each other in TV shows and movies do so because they identify themselves with the characters and use it as wish fullfillment. They have no one in real life to act as their interest so they immerse themselves into fiction.

Karai, remarking on the "effability" of a woman is just another way to out of hand dismiss her concerns. It's a common derail tactic that's built on the historical notion of "hysteria" and the idea that a woman's only worth is to be found in how much people desire her physically.

Usually it goes hand in hand with whether or not they're conventionally attractive.

These women aren't to be listened to because surely no one sexes them up enough, so clearly they're not worthy of concern.

The thing about nuanced debate is we can both be "on the same side" and still have totally different opinions. Do I think there should be more female characters? Sure, why not. But using "gender parity" as the primary reason to introduce them seems to be the wrong way to go about it, in my opinion.

And while I would be sad to see Splinter die, I'd still like to see how it would play out. Maybe they should do one future episode as a "What if" type thing. Sure, they did it in 2K3, so why not have that in the Nick show, too? I think there are many different ways they could go about it if they were to do that.

Heck, even FW did a "What if Splinter wasn't there?" episode. He only left and didn't die, but still...

That could be cool too, I do like flash-foward episodes. Or do what a lot of comics do, kill him off for a season and bring him back. Watching the season 1 finale, I was hoping Leo would stay "dead" until the start of season 2, but I guess they didn't want to upset the kiddos too much.

Can't wait for the show to get darker. The goofy stuff has never been my favorite part of the show, and I feel like this show will get dark without getting potentially to dark like I feel 2k3 could be

Its never going to lose its lighthearted humor and it shouldn't.

I think when he meant dark he meant more serious stuff likely involving Shredder/Splinter and Karai, or more dark fates for some of the characters.

Yes, same here. Definitely can't wait for some darker stuff because they do it well. "The Gauntlet" is proof of that.

I am not at all convinced that Ciro and his crew thought of the idea of Karai being the Shredder's adopted daughter or Raph being afraid of roaches without watching the 2k3 series. Those are definately not a coincidence. He had to have watch a least A LIITLE bit of the show.

Agreed. Same with the Don/April shipping. I bet those writers marathoned the show. And got paid for it
