I don't know why, but with every interview that comes out, I get the sinking feeling that that terrible, original script wasn't completely thrown out...

Standard Friedberg/Seltzer schlock...only it didn't even make theaters. Take that as you will.

I expect the origin of the turtles, the ancient Foot Clan, the present-day Erich Sachs Shredder, and maybe some Dimension X properties, all being tied together.

Maybe this is a sign that people are finally learning their lesson about these movies...we can only hope.

We'll find out if that's the case or not when The Best Night Ever comes out next year. Just watch the trailer if you can bare it :

It happened in an issue of Supergirl back in like 2006. He was exposed to pink kryptonite and flirted a bit with Jimmy.

Superman gets exposed to pink kryptonite and becomes gay?
Wow, comic books really have hit a new low. And I realize this is from 2006 but how homophobic. Pink = gay? |

Isn't the movie basically done and the only thing left is the finishing touches on the CGI and whatnot? It's too late to say 'they changed the script'. It's already done.

I'm really on the fence about this movie. Whenever something about it sparks ny interest, something else lowers my expectations. For every interesting casting decision, there's an equally terrible one. I still might blacklist it through.

Nobody (with any shred of sanity) has faith or interest in these films anymore.

I personally find it irksome that this particular actor did make a big point in the past of saying that he was a fan and that had read the comics and watched the show and how faithful the characters and story will be and now is saying the opposite. It does seem to be symptomatic of a larger problem that none of the people involved in this movie can really make up their minds how they want to promote this movie. All of them bar maybe Fichtner (who is either blissfuly ignorant or doesn't care) about the stigma this movie has picked up not just with fans of the franchise but the general public but they're grasping at straws with them trying to say the 'right thing'. We all know the usual Hollywood double talk we get when movies are being promoted but they can't even get that straight. So far the only constant is them saying how great the special effects will be and how this is a Michael Bay movie. The latter is hardly helping with the aforementioned bad reputation the movie has gotten. |

I have seen so any terrible movies done by people who have read/studied the source material. Just because someone reads the comics, books, or whatever doesn't equal a good film. |

Wow. That is a REALLY good point. I'm still frustrated at the seeming lack of respect and knowledge for the franchise that I'm sensing, but you make an excellent point.

This movie is using the 80s cartoon as a jumping off point because more people are going to be remember that than the Mirage comic. There might be some characterization from the first movie, but mostly they are going for a big screen version of Fred Wolf's TMNT more than Eastman and Laird's.

This guy is being paid well (I assume) to portray a character. The least he can do is learn about said character. For me it displays a lack of professionalism. Everyone here knows this film will blow but that isn't the point. The point is that it would suck less if they put some effort into it. They should be reading and watching everything they can; being influenced by various universes. |

Unless it was decided not to use all the universes as reference. Bay and Co could have told the actors, "Look, guys. Don't go soak your heads in a bunch of TMNT content, because we're going for reinvention."
It reminds me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The screenwriter and the kid who played Charlie had read the original book, but had never seen the old movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. They chose not to watch it, because they didn't watch to be influenced by it. I think Chris Pine (Captain Kirk) said he watched only six episodes of Star Trek. He stopped because he didn't want to end up imitating William Shatner. Both cases worked out great.
