I didn't know that Eastman originally intended April to be black. Out of curiosity what changed?

Aside from the book itself being a wonderful little gem. I want to personally applaud the cover.
The Point of View, the depth of field and the colors all work here making it quite possibly my favorite cover so far. There is just something about the turtles in a Fall Setting that makes me feel calm and retrospective. Just like the book itself.

And I've seen Kevin and Peter deny she was, so that's all I really need to see. Perhaps she was a "fake and baker," such as was the rage in the 80s. Who knows.

She seemed africanish to me, but the hair explains nothing, that was a common popular type of hairdo in the 80s.
Spoiler:
Doesn't that work the opposite way? Like people gain weight as the negative result of hormone therapy? |

Thanks for the confirmation. I never knew they denied it. It's weird how many ppl say she looks African American. Do they ever discuss how she has black facial features and hair-type? I guess that big curly hair was popular with white women as well in the 80's.

I really enjoyed this issue... it wasn't intense really.. very laid back, the atmosphere is perfect. My fav time of the year is basically the end of september to the middle of Feb or so.
This book is in the fall time and it was just killer art. I do like Mateus' art, but I actually like Campbell's art the best. All of the artists that have been on this book have been really really good. Campbell's art is probably my favorite. Duncan is up there too, I like his Turtles a lot, but just overall... I love the way Campbell draws them. It has a older feel to it for me. The 4 covers I've seen are just amazing... #29 which I have in hand is probably in my top 5 covers. There's a lot of pretty covers in TMNT too! It is definitley top 10 Sorry to rag on about this, I'm almost 30 years old... and TMNT makes me feel like a little kid again lol Even though I love Ross' art, I still wouldn't want him permanent. I think a artist change every 4-8 issues is good anyways. I hope to God he comes back later on. The Alopex B cover from Ross is just amazing too. Dying for #30 |

Yeah, I am dying for #30 too. What is the release date for it again? Tom did promise me we would get a teaser panel or two within the next week. So we have that to keep us guessing and appease us at the same time.
As for black or white April, why not ask Peter Laird on his TMNT blog? If not I can save it to ask Kevin in person in a few months.

Page 18. I mentioned it before, but I like the way Campbell drew April's foot pressing on the floor. It's such a little detail, but to me it shows that she's nervous about Casey meeting her parents. I like little body language things like that.

there's a lot of pages that are my fav, but a couple that stand out would be..
the overview scene of the farm and the lake... the splash look if you call it that... it's both pages. also the scene of splinter talking sense into raph and such lastly I really liked the alopex last page, her staring at leo. really neat feel for that |

It looks like Northampton is a fantastic bookend for City fall, after reading this it certainly seems that way.
IDW can do wrong. No. Wrong. You can really feel the tension boiling of the page between the turtles after everything that'd happened. I also like the similarities between the 2003 cartoons 'hampton eps and #29 too.

Got this on release date, but never got around to writing up a little blurb.
First of all, Campbell rocked it. His layouts, especially the first 5 pages or so were SO cinematic. Awesome stuff. Story wise, I liked it even though it was the calm after the climax of the previous arc. Two major gripes though: Leo and Alopex. I understand Leo is messed up or whatever, but I can tell I'm gonna get real tired of his mood swings. I know we're not supposed to understand what is going on in his head, but contradictions are just weird. Alopex... wtf. I was really digging her following them to Mass, but then out of ****ing no where she's just like "I don't need you" and walks away right after Splinter reached out to her. Ugh. Everyone else was good though, despite April's mom being corny. I'm interested to see where the Stockgen connection goes. One more nitpick: I've given up on trying to trace the passage of time as far as a calendar year goes, I know a chunk of time passed over the course of City Fall, but there's no way it's Fall already. Yet Campbell has the O'Neil house decorated with Halloween stuff. Oh well. |
