The costume... if it's legit it looks like ****

Anyone trick-or-treating in that should expect to go home empty handed

To be shaped more like a human skull, and fall in line with the other human features that you choose not to embrace?

The only funny scenario in that for me is one where a parent comes back and kicks the guy's ass.

Spoken through a busted lip I'm sure.

Honestly, though. I hope nobody is seriously considering doing some ish like denying children candy because they have the 'wrong' costume on. I know it
was probably a joke but I really don't even like the idea of that.

I don't see why those things should be embraced. If anything, it feels pretty unimaginative to make the Turtles' designs more "human". They're mutant animals. From a design standpoint, making them look even more humanoid just makes them look less interesting.

Well yeah but it kinda had to be done a bit so they can emote more.

That brought about the clothes. Unique designs and dress for each turtle. I wonder if they'll be different skin tones too.

The current cartoon turtles emote just fine, and each has a distinctive "look" and body type. Granted, it's a cartoon and not a live-action movie, but the same design sensibilities could have been followed and would have worked well.

The altered appearance and unique styles of dress just make them look less recognizable/iconic. The classic TMNT design is heavily ingrained in the pop-culture psyche by now. Screwing with that formula is totally unnecessary.

If I ever saw someone wear that costume in real life I'd punch them right in the face. If it were a little kid I'd ask them why the hell they didn't pick up the Nick TMNT costumes over these ugly movie ones.

Something new is okay every once in awhile.

Maybe I'm just crazy and don't like seeing the exact same thing over and over until I croak.

That's totally fair as a personal preference. I can't dispute that!

But... look at the "Amazing Spider-Man" movie costume. The traditional costume is a classic, much like the standard TMNT design. They altered it for that movie, audiences didn't react positively to the change, and already they've switched back to the classic look for the sequel. I'm not saying they situations are directly comparable, and I don't think changing the look up had much impact on that movie's success, but from a marketing standpoint I don't think it makes sense to vary too far from the standard, especially when the franchise is on a hot streak and that very standard is being heavily marketed at the same time. You're inviting audiences to wonder why this version looks "weird" or "wrong".

Sometimes a new look is necessary or can work well, but it has to work as well as the original or bring something interesting or compelling to the design. And I really don't think this does that for Michelangelo.

For me the original designs with adjustments, taking into account the state of technology now, would work fine imo. Have them small with huge hands and feet. They can render them with realistic skin too, I'm fine with that. The changes I'm seeing and hearing about are just making me groan. Hopefully the fighting is top notch at least. If the 90s stunt guys can pull off those moves while actually wearing turtle costumes the stunt guys now should have a field day coming up with crazy ninja action.

Really

They should have just used the first movie designs or the next mutation.

The main argument against most of these changes is that they didn't have to be made. It's been 30 years.

Meh. Could be worse...

Much prefer if they just used the designs from the first movie!
