Much prefer if they just used the designs from the first movie!
I don't think they should use 25 year old designs meant for puppets for CG creatures.

Yep, and Spider-Man's been around for 50, and his design has changed plenty of times - but never for long, and very rarely did they make a lasting impact. When you think of Spider-Man, there's one look that comes immediately to mind, and the classic Turtle look is the same way.

For better or worse, classic and iconic lasts. I'd be surprised if these redesigns are remembered as anything other than "that movie where the Ninja Turtles were dressed weird." (Though admittedly, I am biased.)

Couldn't agree more. Once again, change for the pure sake of change hardly ever works out or is an improvement..... Especially when dealing with classic design.

OMG that is awesome! I was afraid they'd look like Out of the Shadows, but this is pretty awesome. The outfit is pretty cool too and fits Mikey to a tee. It's just the kind of stuff he would wear in a modern world. I'm diggin it so far. Probably the only good thing about the movie besides seeing Megan in tight dark jeans.

Batman having a black suit in the Tim Burton film was a big change, too.
(Well over 30 years into the franchise, too.)

I don't think they're going for anything more than that, though. Certainly, I don't think there's any belief from the studio that these designs will override the previous twenty-five years moving forward.

It's just a different approach they took for a live-action movie. And personally, I'm with Stryker; I like the change. The design, like most things about the movie, isn't what I'd have picked if I were running the show, but I think it's really going to fit the route they're going and has actually brought me a bit more on board with their direction and aesthetic as a whole.

They are making them progressively worse and worse.

Essentially amounted to a colour swap. That's comparable to changing the Turtles' arm pad/band colours and adding initialled belt buckles. It's a design tweak, but not a major one.

If they had Batman wearing a kilt and a shirt with exposed arms showing off some bat tattoos, though...

Fair enough. I'm just saying, things can change. The bandanas were probably considered a big change, at the time, and they're the norm, now. Today's kids are probably more used to seeing Batman wearing black than gray. Maybe, one day, it'll be the same for the turtles wearing clothes.

The turtles, and Spider-Man, in terms of famous comic heroes, are young. Old guys like Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman have changed quite a bit in their appearance.

And for the turtles, they're standard design is naked. I just don't see that being so hard to stray from.

Those Halloween costumes always look terrible, so I'm reserving judgment until we see official photos... which I expect soon since I doubt the powers that be want this laughable imitation to be our first exposure to the new look.

If you're calling out my incorrect "their," okay. You win. But these naked turtles are just begging to be clothed.

Well, the whole point is that they're supposed to be instantly recognized as turtles, yeah? I feel like covering them up too much takes away from the concept, and that's a big part of their appeal.

(And one could argue that their shell acts like built-in armour/clothes, I guess? Yeah sure, let's go with that.)

I know this is a children's costume version of the movie Turtles, but I feel more worried for some reason. Kind of a let down; I wish the first reveal was an official movie still/poster. We'll have to wait to see whether it looks better or not. Hopefully this will push Paramount to give us something official to silence the likely outcry against this design.

Anyone notice the tattoo has the Turtle emblem from the Legacy FX site poster we saw a while back?

Secondly, I don't think it'll be THAT bad in the finished product. Kid's Halloween costumes aren't exactly the most high-quality representations of the characters they're depicting. Now, if this were a figure from Hot Toys or something, then I'd say what we see is what we're getting. But just to give you some perspective...

I pray that you are right, but the fact that the face looks so damn humanoid... I hope they look a lot better, but damn.... I am also not digging the clothes or the sunglasses. Ugghhh... I really want to see a damn trailer to see what they look like.
