Sadly, I don't think eight pages to turtle dick is even a record for the movie board.

My opinion of this movie keeps changing. But just looking at the turtles themselves, I am impressed. They look Great! Now all we need is the trailer to drop so we can see how they'll look in motion.

Yes way better than assumed.

I can't say I like it, Donnie's legs look like he's from district 9, but all in all better than I thought they would be. The creators managed to do too much while also doing not enough.

These look so good, I am really impressed. Exactly how I imagined them, a great nod to zulli, in their anatomy, and nods to all the incarnations. I'm so glad they steered clear of the the "cartoon" look. I can't wait to see these guys in action! It looks like whoever designed these guys wanted to create something that could exist, and had personality, which is why they all look different. They're teenagers - of course they would dress differently!

It's not "Why wouldn't they dress individually?" It's Why would they dress... period?

Seriously, if the studio's editorial mandate for it didn't exist, and this was a real-life scenario, what would realistically compel them to not only cover themselves with human-looking attire, actively scrounge and scavenge in the sewers for things like that to wear? Where's the verisimilitude in that?

I get "It's only a movie", and a "chance for a fresh new take". I still think it's way over the top and logically, it makes no sense. Yet people argue it has some kind of "reality" to it?

I'll accept "It's cool because it looks cool". At least that's honest, if shallow. "It's cool because it makes sense" doesn't make any sense at all.

why do you wear clothes? you wear clothes to cover your body, for warmth, for humility. Just because they are mutations, we have always known them to be sentient and feeling. To be honest I imagine if they actually existed, they would be suffering depression, and misery from vitamin D deficiency, being forced to live away from the human world. They would live with a love hate relationship with humans - they might not look human but to all intents and purposes they are human teenagers, they would be influenced by the same culture and pop culture as their human counterparts. I actually think if they did exist they would probably cover up as much as possible- so they could leave their home and explore.

Eh, not sold, but you guys go ahead and enjoy it. I guess I've been pre-conditioned by the fact that none of that was ever made an issue of before, and it seems very much like a blatant toy grab. I mean, it obviously was. I'm a little older and more cynical, for better or worse; I have a harder time accepting the real-life explanation that, they needed to look this way to sell toys, because they think they won't unless the look is so over-the-top. It definitely was NOT a decision made with the kind of thinking you guys are putting into it. If it was, it might not throw me as much as it does. But I'm sorry, it looks so hollow and transparent from where I'm seeing it.

It just feels forced, to me.

It's not as bad as I feared, though, and that'll have to be enough, for me.

only because we assume they watch television and are growing up doesn't make them HUMAN teenager at all...they never WILL be human teenagers..except as in those idw remake comics...
for me, the movie turtles are all right looking so far...I don't like their need to dress at all.it feels like there is some index finger from some money giver behind the camera saying 'oh, no for christs sake, this is a movie for kids, cover up their genitalia!'...and I can't stand when people draw the turtles giving them a more human looking body.look at their rumps here.I mean they are formed like the upper body of a human being.not like a turtle.I think there's again someone in the design camp overseeing this telling guys to go that way so the audience 'can' get connected emotionally with these odd looking heroes more.they need to resemble us humans more in order for us to lay our hopes into them.
could be just a design choice out of preference of course, but I could totally see this being the case, too..

Then by that logic, why don't they wear shoes? Sneakers? Boots? Or even socks? Or anything else on their feet for that matter, since humans wear them too, by cutting/reworking them to feet on their feet instead of a simple bandage or two?

Plus it would help with not walking outside and stepping on broken glass or any number of things out in the real world (let alone in the sewers).

Maybe you don't think just being teenagers is a reason to wear clothes. (And I'd argue you're wrong. All the teenagers in the world seek to express their individuality through dress and style.) But I can't find one reason to say, "This is why they would not wear clothes." It's not a route they had to take, but I literally can't find anything wrong with the idea.

Also, Leo has footwear, too.

And the turtles are human in every way that matters. I'm honestly kind of shocked to hear someone on these forums claim otherwise. That's what makes them interesting and compelling. They're archetypal characters that everyone can relate to.

Glad I'm optimistic for this film.

April looks great and hot. The turtles look awesome. Shredder is terrifyingly badass!

Gonna be the best tmnt movie yet.

I really like optimism! I think the first ever film was amazing as it was almost completely true to the original premise, but there is nothing wrong with a new iteration. Hell, I am not a fan of the original cartoon, not interested in it, so its influence on this isn't of great interest to me, but I am willing to just be happy that this film got made and that the franchise is alive and well. I reserve final judgement once I have seen the film!

Not as bad as I imagined, a lot better actually but I'm still not digging it. Looks like fan art come true. Hopefully we'll get a trailer soon to get an idea of where they're going with this movie.
