Fresno Grizzlies to host "TMNT Night" in 2014

I guess this section's the best place to put this...

The minor-league baseball team Fresno Grizzlies will be having a TMNT-themed night during the 2014 season. Full details are yet to be announced, but here's what the jerseys will look like:

So what do you guys think? There's been various Marvel and Star Wars themed uniforms in the minor leagues, but this is the first time the TMNT have been honoured in such a way...

Not a sports guy at all but it's cool to see the team paying tribute, those uniforms are ill as hell, I'd love to have one.

Pretty sure it's just the latter. I know that in the past when teams have done this sort of thing, it's been unofficial - as long as no specific copyrights are breached, the license holders are usually willing to play along. There have been instances where there's been an official tie-in though, say to a movie (I'm pretty sure there were Iron Man-themed unis to tie in with the release of one of the movies).

I'm not much of a sports fan myself, but this is awesome that they're doing this in tribute of TMNT. Those uniforms and hats look sweet.

Interesting that a Brit would start a baseball-related thread about a minor league team. That said, Minor League Baseball is known for their wacky promotions that the big leagues wouldn't even think about dreaming, and it works well for the smaller markets. It does a good job of avoiding official copyrighted material by providing a solid design. Anybody else know of any other franchises that minor league teams have held?

Well, looking at their website, this is scheduled for Aug. 2. I live within driving distance (3-4 hours), so I might consider going. It also says the game-worn jerseys will be auctioned for charity.

Well, sports uniforms/design is one of my biggest passions, right up there with TMNT...

Anywhoo, like I mentioned earlier, there've been numerous other promos in the minor leagues (both baseball and hockey):

Akron Aeros "Star Wars Night" jersey:

Toledo Mud Hens "Chewbacca Night" jersey:

Toledo Walleye/Kalamazoo Wings "Star Wars Night" jerseys:

Toledo Mud Hens (they really seem to like this kind of thing in Toledo!) "Ghostbusters Night" jersey:

Las Vegas Wranglers "Spider-Man Night" uniforms:
